Zippo fluid?! That might become dangerous as the lamp heats up which is an issue with that type of flammable fuel...... Just put kerosine in as it's supposed to and there won't be any exploding fumes....

Hi @R Dolle, thank you so much for your kind reminder, it's really sweet of you. 😇❤️
For this video, we were experimenting around with which fuel to choose from, but at the end we choose kerosene+olive oil as we were aware of the concequences zippo fuel could cause...
And no worries, we are now using kerosene+olive oil for the rest of our camping trips. 😄

@@treebud139 Hi. Why do you add the olive oil? Feuerhand makes no such recommendations. Olive oil is also thicker and I wonder how well the wick soaks it?
A couple of tips; The wick is easier to insert underneath the burner head. You can also lift the lamp and blow it out instead of dropping the wick down. This way it doesn't accidentally fall into the tank. 👍

    • @treebud139

I’ve got this lamp and it leaks at the two air pipes where they are soldered to the tank. So if you don’t hold the lantern exactly vertically it will leak. Is this normal?

    • @treebud139

Hi there, thank you for your comment! 😉Yes, the lantern should never be tilted, inverted or swing for this can cause leaks from the wick burner's hole yea. Once the lantern is filled, please be noted to place or hang it in a vertical position. 😊Hopefully it helps, cheers my friend! 😇

For indoor use, we would recommend K-1 Kerosene mix with olive oil, as it helps burnt longer (gentle reminder: do remember to fully soak your wick prior using ;) . Yet, we would advice you to use it in a well ventilated room as the smoke from kerosene could cause discomfort if you're using in a close room.

      @treebud139  2 роки тому +3

Hi Gavin, thank you so much for watching! And thanks for your questions, here's my two cents, hopefully it helps.
Q: When topping up the tank, how can you see if you're 70% full without a gauge?
A : There is a marking line at the fuel tank as an indication the fuel is at maximum capacity. As long as you are below the marking line, you're doing perfectly fine. 😉
Q: When you're putting away the lantern for a few weeks, do you need to drain the tank and how?
A: Yes, you do need to remove the fuel completely before storing the lantern. We drain the tank using a mini aquarium siphon pump. Easy to store and carry around. 😄 (I've seen friend just drain the fuel out slowly by tilting the whole lantern without any spill , you may give it a try as well..)
Q: When transporting the lantern to a campsite, is there any tips or gotchas? I'm thiinking a lantern with fuel in it may leak?
A: We store our fuel in a plastic container and fill the lantern when we reach campsite. The lantern is not suitable for transport when filled, as this could cause leakage.
Q: Will the fuel evaporate if left too long on it's own?
A: Yes, the fuel will slowly evaporate if left for too long. Thus, it is advisable to empty your lantern before storing.
Cheers and enjoy your camping trips! 🥰

Tilt the globe and base to remove the burner. When the fuel is about 1/4 inch from the burner hole in the tank it should have enough space to slosh around a little bit or be slightly tilted without fuel leaking into the air plenum then coming out at the bottom of the air tubes. The tube connection is only crimped so it is not fuel tight. If it leaks at the tubes don't fill it as much. They will all leak if tilted too far.

Dear Ruby, thank you for watching our video and for your comment! Appreciate it 😇❤️
Here's a few information from our previous experiences that we hope could help and share with you.
      - If you would like to use it indoors, we would advice you to use it in a well ventilated room as the smoke from kerosene could cause discomfort if you're using in a close room.
      - If you completely secure the oil cap, it would not leaked unless you flipped it upside down.
We once accidentally flipped it over cause we put it on an uneven rock, and it do spilled a little, thus it is better to securely hang it or put it on a flat ground. (gentle reminder : do remember to clean any spills immediately as kerosene oil is highly flammable).
      - As for oil filling, we would recommend filling it about 3/4 full or more, but leave about 0.5 to 1 inch between oil and chamber lid. (gentle reminder: do remember to fully saturated your wick with oil prior using so you're burning the oil instead of the wick.)
Here's a guide that explain in details regarding to using oil lamp indoor, hope it helps. ☺️

If you're experiencing leaks with your lantern, it's advisable to double-check the assembly, seals, and fuel compartment to ensure everything is properly in place. If you're still uncertain or concerned about the leaks, I recommend reaching out to the manufacturer or referring to the product manual for further guidance. Hi there, thanks for your comment!
It vary depending on the length of your wick and type of oil used. I think my 1cm wick can burn for approximately 8 hours. It can last quite long. Hopefully it helps, cheers! ;)
