Gary, thanks so much for providing this in-depth review to other potential customers. You give a great breakdown of how to get the most out of both SPAN Panel and Drive! Glad you could avoid a service upgrade by choosing SPAN! We'll also make sure to show this to our Engineering and Product teams for future feature development.
I would like to see a 40 circuit model or a 16 circuit expansion box. For the ev charger they should plan for bidirectional charging when more evs support that so that I can use my vehicle as my battery if needed eliminating the need for a stand alone battery. Add AI to predict how much much range you normally need and the rest can be optimized for backup or optimized time of day pricing. Ultimately, I could decide how to use the power. It would be nice if they would allow you to screw in the tesla adapter so you don’t need to use 2 hands.
Gary my understanding is that solar systems require a service disconnect so that in a grid outage power from your solar system isn’t back fed to the grid yet I didn’t recognize a disconnect in your system, does the SPAN panel have some sort of built in disconnect?
This is great Gary! Thanks for the detailed video review. I’m curious how you got approval for Tesla powerwall installation in the garage. I’m putting In 2 with a span and am being told there are serious requirements to install batteries in a garage. Appreciate the help!
Hmmm, Span should create a rule to enable that. In the meantime, if you don't want to draw power from your Powerwall, set your reserve power to 100% on the Tesla app.
@@GaryCruzDotCom Yes you can do it manually which kinda defeats the purpose. I think it requires the Powerwalls to have an API with push not just pull.

Great review, also I love the back to the future reference

Does the span drive take up one or two slots on the panel ? Trying to figure this out as im running out of space on the span panel
Do I need SPAN panel in order to use SPAN charger?
Yes
I am planning for exactly the same setup. How much did it cost you?
Who makes the directional lights? It’s a nice touch!
Doc Brown
What happens to the original panel if you get the SPAN panel? Is it still usable?
Original panel is “replaced”. It’s removed.

As a Span panel and Powerwall owner as well - is there a way I can use the Span Drive to charge my car without drawing from the Powerwalls?

@Span are there any Christmas deals?

Please put in the form you saw this video!
It's disappointing to see that you're supporting Elon Musk (Tesla) and using apple products.
