Great review. I also have the tamron 70-200mm g2. I love the stabilization since I handheld for wedding photo and video. As you mentioned, I also lost so many shots due to the button accidentally turning off the vc. It's very difficult to see camera shake on the job from the camera. Until i recently had another similar incident, I really wanted to get rf 85 1.2. Now, it seems more practical to replace the tamron and skip the 85mm. There are few reasons why I'm having a hard time replacing the tamron. Few weeks ago, I spent $300 repairing the lens to get the focus collaborated. I like the internal zoom and it allows extenders. I have the 2x extender. Do you still have both tamron and rf lens? Or did you replace the tamron 70-200mm g2?
Thanks for your comment. It is good to know I’m not the only person who ran into the mistakenly switching off AF. I agree in the heat of the moment you don’t always notice. For me I was laying on the ground trying to look through the view finder from ground level so I really was relying on the AF to be on and nailing focus. I do do not still have the tamron. I had the tamron on my old Nikon D810 and sold off my whole Nikon kit when I moved to Canon. I personally do not have a problem with the canon lens non-internal zoom system. The benefit of it fitting in my bag much easier far out weighs that feature IMO. Unless you need to sell the tamron I would just keep it for the times you want a 200-400mm lens. I don’t think the rf 2x extenders don’t work on the 70-200mm rf lens.
@@poutineitup9510 I even asked Tamron to repair the button switch. They kindly asked me to put a tape over it. Hahaha. I think if I could sell the extender I would definitely sell the lens and replace it with rf 70-200mm. Thanks for the video. I thought a had a bad copy lens until I saw your video. I don't understand why they wouldn't make both the manfrotto 501 & Arca Swiss Type collar/foot. People would by them. Let you choose when you order, sell the other for 50-75 bucks... no brainer.I really adds to the footprint to have to mount a plate to it.
Great review! Just ordered one! I have an RF 50mm 1.8 on the way as well. How will the image quality compare between those two lenses? The 50 is faster at 1.8 but the 70-200 is an L series lens. The price difference would lead me to believe that the 70-200 is miles above the 50. What do you think?
