- I wrote an entire description but SOMEHOW it got deleted and I cannot be bothered to rewrite it. It was something along the lines of that I’ve been making this video since the end of season 1, credits to Disney and Dana and her team, Amity is my fav character blah blah blah. Continue to support TOH and hopefully we can get more content in the future. Also, unmarked season 3 spoilers. You have been warned :)

I think my only problem is that we don't see Luz and Amity interacted with each other or hangout normally. I mean yes they show them acting loving, but them in the human realm is a perfect opportunity to show them acting like normal girls. I believe most of the fan comics filling in the gaps of the characters, I just would like to see it on television.
I mean if had 20 more adventures, but they don’t.

At first I never understood why Amity’s worst fear was being rejected by Luz, considering she has so many deeper things going on, especially with her parents. But now I realize that is why. Luz is her first real connection, Luz saved her from herself and her parents, and she had never had a crush before so it was a big experience for her.

@@insertgoodname4987 willow was but I think that's the issue. Willow was a genuine connection that Amity herself ruined. Luz didn't leave her even seeing her worst but rejection is a whole different ball park that could have distanced Luz if she didn't feel the same
i think it was just rejection in general. luz was just a way to convey the message; though i do like your idea too!
@@n4t4l113you know, that kinda makes sense. I always wondered why Amity's grom only barely resembled Luz, while Luz got a very vivid image of Camila, but with that explanation, that kinda makes sense.
It was like a fear but not the worse, when luz started her fight against grom it started as those cats with human heads and then it improved into hardcore fears

Amity became a very likable and complex character but I remember losing my mind when she called luz a bully after how we’d seen her act to everybody, especially Willow. Lack of self-awareness like that is a common trait in actual bullies and it drives me nuts, but she gained some introspection and became a good person.
Tbf, it did seem like Luz was reading her diary and going to expose to people. Obviously not what was going on, but it did seem that way from her perspective.

I always felt like she should have gotten called out on that because of how hypocritical she was when she said that or at least had a scene where amity acknowledges and admits that she was the bully all along.
Luz can be a bully even if Amity also are one.

I can't believe that even after Luz embarrassed her at a convention, made her loss her spot as top student, broke her leg, smacked her in the face with a stick, read her diary, almost got her stuck inside a book, and fired from her job she still is madly in love with her

Amity was very unaware about the draining spell that belos was gonna used, by joining the emperor’s coven is a death sentence
Amity’s embarrassment saved her from the emperor’s coven, losing her top student is better than stay as a top student as your just become a jerk weed
Amity now has a love of her life which is luz

I mean, Luz has definitely done some wrong towards her but not all of that is solely on Luz's fault
I'd argue Lilith and Eda played a bigger role in embarrassing her. Luz didn't actually want to cheat and only went through with it bc she didn't know any spells. And once she realized what Eda did, she tried to warn Amity so she wouldn't get hurt. Lilith put that stamp on her, and Eda was the one that revealed it. Luz was the person who went to go and talk to Amity in an attempt to make things right
Amity kinda had losing top spot as student coming with how she had treated Willow
I do not recall Luz smacking Amity in the face with a stick so I don't really have anything to say about that
Boscha broke Amity's leg, not Luz. There was nothing Luz could have done about that and it's not like she could have predicted Amity's leg getting broken
Luz did not know that Edric and Emria were going to reveal Amity's diary to everyone in Hexside. She tried to put it away and stop them when they found it, but Amity walked in on her at a bad time and misinterpreted what was happening (understandably so, of course)
And when Amity got fired Luz went out of her way to get her job back and admitted that it was her fault
As for almost getting Amity stuck in a book, I gotta agree that was pretty messed up. But she did fix her mistake and would have regardless of whether Amity was there or not

She always wants to be the best she can be no matter what the situation is. Also she was raised to think that people will abandon and stop loving you if you don't succeed, but later on in the episode she realized Luz and her friends aren't like that. It's also the reason why Amity is so understanding when Luz lies, because Luz too is afraid people will leave her.
Did anyone else notice how Amity sounded just like her mom before she grew as a person?
She went from being a sociopathic bully to a charismatic badass girlfriend.
Hey reminder to everyone in the comments to not reduce Amity's character to Luz's Girlfriend. She's smart, powerful, talented, she likes to read and write, hard-working; etc. She is awesome but she isn't JUST a girlfriend. Edit: She is also an athlete and sassy.

She’s a lot more than just a love interest.
At least you understand her character. Amity is a top student for a reason.
Even though it can happen to any love interest regardless of sexuality, people are used to the mindset that gay love interests are only there to be gay and uncharacterized. I think that’s what Eclipse Lake made fun of before moving on.
@@pinzokiyama3387 The thing is, with Eclipse Lake, Amity is still acting in-character. Even while dating Luz, she's still trying to prove herself, she's still trying to be a pleaser. Getting a partner doesn't erase your childhood trauma, nor does it suddenly change your mindset or the way you view yourself. You could read that episode as a critique of uncharacterised gay love interests, but Amity's behaviour in Eclipse Lake is VERY on-point with her characterisation. I'd say it's more realistic having her obsess over being an awesome girlfriend, as that is what she's been taught: be awesome, be powerful, be successful. Her self-worth is tied to her accomplishments because that is what Odalia has raised her to believe. Even if she thinks she's found herself, even if she understands that she is more than what she can give, those habits still remain. The idea of living up to expectations still heavily influences her decision-making in Eclipse Lake, even if she thinks she's moved away from that mindset.
I just realized purple Amity's voice sounds more sweet and light.

Who else feels like a proud parent? Watching Amity grow she's become so much more instead of trying to be completely perfect and only interested in her educational future or the dreams of her mom or even being closed towards others in term of relationships,she embraces her imperfect sides and actually has fun ,and becomes more courageous in trying to go after what she wants. I feel like many academic children who have so many expectations from family,and struggle to find their true voice and fear disappointment (including myself) have learnt to be more courageous.
Amity has the biggest character development with everybody, and she went from; Mean girl, crushes, awesome girlfriend. Also she has become very powerful! Like she would kill anyone if they tried to hurt Luz, like a scratch and they die.😅

Amity just got disowned by her mom and got to another dimension where she won't even know what her family is getting into but still kept sane so kudos to her , I would've broke on the spot

Honestly if Luz never came to the demon realm it would of been bad. Amity blight would of been a bully. Willow and Gus would be bullied. Willow would of never joined the plant track and never had become confident. Hunter would be dead, and so much more. Luz is truly one of a kind just like everyone is this show. The whole fight Amity never broke a sweat but when it came to Luz’s safety she froze up
Honestly one of the best cartoon characters in recent memory. I may be biased because I’m a sucker for characters who have arcs that have them go from villains/bullies to eventually being redeemed and becoming an ally to the heroes. Characters like Zuko, Ice King, and even Marceline to an extent are some of my favorites. Watching Amity’s character progress throughout the show was such a treat. I’m happy that she’s doing well at the end.
Same. I always hate that characters like her just kept 1D the whole series or become worse as the series goes on. Talking about Zuko, Rajeev wished he was the one who finished Azula instead of the other girl.
Vegeta is the most iconic enemies to allies i can't remember. They guy was a pos all his life with not talk redeeming quality. The guy's father even cheered when Goku's father was "killed".
It's so cool seeing how her tone and attitude change through her lines placed back to back.

Wait a damn minute, I just noticed that the episode where we see amity and willow for the first time, amity's abomination puts a star on willow's forehead and it might be a reference about the season 3's last 2 episodes, where we can clearly see how people got transformed into puppets/toys.

If the owl house had more time, I would've loved to see her arc be done over more time. When I watched through, her change in personality seemed to happen super quickly and seemed unnatural. Still love her character and Lumity, but I would've loved to see a few more episodes of her being a bully but slowly realizing her wrongs, as well as more content on her relationship with her mother and how it deteriorates.
hate to break it to you but the rushing began after coven Day parade when terrace learned that the show would be cancelled, so the second half of s2 and 3 were written with the shortened time in mind. By that point the lumity arc was mostly completed.
So the fast character development was the original plan for Amity. *The relationship with her mom could have been explored with more time though .

Anyone notice how when Amity dyes her hair she keeps the brown spot, personal theory but I feel the reason she keeps the brown in her hair is because it reminds her of the only parent she likes/has a good relationship with which is her dad while getting rid of her natural green hair which reminded her of her oppressive mother. Like yeah sure he was kinda oppressive as well but that was probably more of his wife's influence rather then his own. We see him as he gets more screen time more of an aloof inventor who sometimes gets lost in his work but for sure cares for Amity like a dad should. Basically his wife being more of his boss then his partner nagging him to keep inventing rather then paying attention to his kids.

When I first watched the series and Amity said Luz was a bully I got so mad at her. Then later on in the series she said she wasn’t the best person herself and I’m just nodding my head agreeing. Now I love lumity.
