I think this is something 2D Mario DESPERATELY needed. A lot of the 2D Mario games in the 2000’s and 2010’s are too similar, but this looks different and unique (I also love the art style)
And I definitely loved the final result: one of the greatest 2D Platformers ever ❤
I feel like they actually put more effort into this 2D mario than they have in years

Nathaniel's enthusiasm for the Mario series is infectious. I'm really excited for Super Mario Bros. Wonder. The backgrounds are beautiful. Especially that Maple Treeway looking background.

What about Elephant Yoshi? Yoshis were shown as playable characters without anyone riding them. Unless Yoshis are a transformative power-up this time, or an easy mode character without traditional power-ups like Nabbit and Toadette. Them having their own life icon indicates the latter.
The art style is adorable, playable Daisy is amazing & the new powerups are so cool. I love this announcement and I believe this is something Nintendo needed to make. I'm was happy when I saw it

In addition to the best movie ever, we get all of this at the same time! Best year for Mario fans! And I still can’t get over the fact that DAISY IS PLAYABLE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN A CONSOLE PLATFORMER IN 34 YEARS! (And yes, I know she was also playable in Super Mario Run, but I don’t know if that’s canon or not).

I’m excited for this game because
1. We finally have a new 2D Mario that isn’t yet another NSMB game
2. Peach is playable. I’m sick of her being completely useless, but when she gets the chance to kick butt, she REALLY kicks butt and proves that she has great waifu potential. This year has been MUCH kinder to her than most years have been.
3. Daisy, one of the best Mario waifus, is also playable.

I’m not only excited for a new 2D Mario, but also for the Dark Moon HD port, and the Super Mario RPG remake. I think it’s safe to say this direct did NOT disappoint!
I am SOOOOO glad Nintendo is doing this. The art style is amazing. The remakes are understandable unlike most remakes. (Looking at you new super Mario bros series 😑) and even a entire game dedicated to peach being played as the main character is extremely exciting. But what really matters is that DAISY IS A PLAYABLE CHARACTER IN THE NEW SUPER MARIO BROS GAME. OML I AM SOOOO EXCITED 😆

I was so happy with this direct. Remaking the RPG, dark moon, and a new peach game was enough, but then they finally created a new 2D game which hasn’t happened in years. Not to mention that the other stuff was great too! Definitely a 10/10 direct for me

YOSHI IS A PLAY ABLE CHARACTER. We can tell because on the left it shows that yoshi and mario are sharing health bars and because 4 players were using yoshi at the same time.
