Thank you so much for this. My husband and I just replaced the door ECU in our 2000 Sienna with the help of your video. It wasn't easy, but the door works again! This will make picking our son up from school much easier. Thanks again!
You are most welcome. When ours failed on the 1999 I found only a post in a repair forum from someone who had done it. I recorded my effort, following the text description, hoping that if I was successful I could help someone else by putting it on UA-cam. Glad you found it useful.
Thank you. After watching your video, I was able to replace the drive side ECU module on my 2002 toyota sienna xle and now my sliding door works. Once my sliding door is fixed, I no longer have the power door light on my dashboard so was able to have another key programmed.
Remove the 3 bolts for the rear ac and pull the condenser box towards you while being careful not to move it too much (There is a pipe that goes into the floor). I didn't have to remove the bolt for the cable bracket that Rich did this way.
Glad I was able to help you From the owner's manual: 1. Disconnect the negative post of the battery, wait 5 minutes, reconnect 2. Make sure the dashboard door control button shows the red line 3. Press the door open button and when it fully opens, press the close door button. Wait 10 seconds. Press the door open button again. 4. Press the door close button. Wait 10 seconds then open the door again. The door should now be reset, close it and test operation.
I have the power door light on. When I press any of the buttons to open or close the door it makes a cluck noise, but it does not open. Before that used to open. So do you think if I replace the door ECU I can fix the problem? Thanks
I think you mean the door open light on the dashboard? Have you replaced your battery recently or has the battery run down? Have you tried to reset the door using the procedure in your owner's manual? When mine was going bad it would open but not close. I had to turn off the button on the dashboard to keep it from closing, then carefully closed the door all the way. That turned off the light on the dash. Try turning off the button on the dash and then manually opening the door as far as you can get it. Then follow the reset procedure in the owner's manual. If that doesn't work, and it didn't for me, I would replace the ECU. I got a used one off eBay. I think it was a 2000 or 2001 model Sienna that it came off of

The procedure for resetting the door is in your owners manual. Do you have one?
