The biggest "con" is the increasing rents. I've lived in Midtown for almost 32 years now, I love it here, and wouldn't want to live anywhere else in Sacramento. But I now get hit with a $100/month rent increase every August. This time it was $120/month, effective October 1st. I'm hoping I can stay in this part of town, but we'll see.
I miss Sacramento. I used to go to Sac State and lived in Sacramento from 2015 until 2021. But I'm thinking of moving back, to the Midtown area this time. The transportation is good, I love the artsy lgbtq scene and bar scene, and I love bookstores. Plus the weather is good: not as cold as East Coast, not as hot as Fresno.
Thank you for commenting! Sacramento certainly has a lot to offer. Even though our summers are hot, it's nice how it cools off at night thanks to our delta breeze. Plus, no snow in the Winter here :)
Jason it was wild and cheap to live there😂 property wasn’t expensive at all. Once lavender heights took off, and young hipsters started moving in the changes started taking place. I worked in downtown 40+ years. 7 printing in private sector & 33 with the state. I have seen it all! In the early 80s 4th & T was for ladies of the night & drugs😮 k street mall was a disaster, Cesar Chavez park was a place at night where older men would get dates with twinks. Yes downtown was that bad!😂🤣😂
@@JasonWalter1 yes 👍 some small sections of downtown are wonderful, but since COVID a lot of offices have closed & with work from home it’s even worse. Not to mention the homeless invasion. Unless you have a garage, good luck keeping glass in your car! As adult males, me and you can move about semi safely, but yours & mine wife’s not so much. I think Roseville has a safer nightlife.

Buy a house
@@HeyUncleA I can’t afford to. You don’t think I would prefer not to be a renter if that was an option?

Jason do you remember when downtown wasn’t the best place to live in the 70s early 80s? It just shows you how good people can change a neighborhood 👍😂
Hi Steve! Good to see you here. We moved to Sacramento in the early 1980's when I was young. What was downtown Sacramento like in the 70's?

@@Steverz32 Wow! That is bad. It still needs improving but not as bad as what you described.
