Quality dynamic microphones, be that USB or XLR or both, are far easier to come by than they use to be. In this review, I check out the Fifine Tank 3 USB/XLR dynamic and compare it to another $100 XLR dynamic as well as test it in various conditions. Distance, plosives, USB with no EQ, XLR with EQ, and so on. What do you think? Could this be a solid mic for streamers and content creators and even musicians?

Microphone sounded really good right off the bat! Wish that handling noise was less, It's never a problem I worry about, but this was something xD

I love the tank 3. I use it as my main mic now. I love how it brings out the low end of my voice. I have done a review in it as well if you want to check it out.

Great review. I originally had the Fifine AM8 and switched to the Tank 3. I don't use XLR, but the USB on the Tank 3 sounds better than the AM8. Though I was wondering what shock mount would you recommend for the Tank 3?

I like ones like this amzn.to/4biC03c , but you have to be sure its diameter is big enough to properly hold the mic. The knobs on the Tank 3 might make using one like this a challenge though.

Thank you for your continuous support! You can consider the shock mount that is for Blue Yeti or Blue Snowball, which can be used with the Tank3.

I just ordered this without much review as my audio interface died and I thought having a USB mic would be handy. But that handling noise. I'm coming from a Shure SM58 with a Shure A55M shock mount. Sure that might pick up keyboard clicks, but it does *not* pickup me tapping the desk or bottoming out on the keyboard. This Tank3, on the same mic arm picks up **everything**, its crazy, even when the gain/loudness is much lower than I run the SM58 at.
Too bad.. I'm not actually sure if its this mic, or a trait that all of these mics that mount this way have - such as the Podmic, PD400x, MV7, etc.

Sorry for your poor use experience. But the shock mount is for rejecting vibration not clicking and typing sound. And it's about the tuning, the characteristic of the mic. SM58 is rather heavy on the lows, therefore it does much better at background sound rejection. But if you're concerned about plosives, it does much worse than the Tank3. So we're afraid that it's just that the coloration of this mic isn't a nice fit for you. As for the other mics you mentioned, the Podmic has even less low-end, while the PD400X has slightly more but may not be enough to give you the result SM58 achieved.

Mic sounds really good, but the real question is, do I need this for my stream?

I bought two, they sound great but one MAJOR issue. My Mac won’t recognize them simultaneously even with a MIDI aggregate. Seems like my only option is one Fifine and a Rode unless someone can crack the code on this.

You could always just connect one to the mac via usb and one via XLR with a cheap interface. Multiple USB mics on one PC can get tricky.

Sorry about the issue! How many fifine microphone input that you saw in the MIDI audio setting when plugging in both the Tank3? It could be easy to miss some of them since they're all with the same name.
