Warding Bond is a really good spell- not only does it provide static bonuses with no concentration needed, but it allows you to more efficiently use your party's HP and hit dice as a resource. It's much, much better to have two party members both take 20 damage than it is one of them to take 40, because then both characters can spend their hit dice (or other abilities) to heal up after. A lot of players think in terms of "I want to lose as few HP as possible," but that can actually be counterproductive even for backline characters if it means your frontliners are taking all of that extra damage. Guardian of Nature is a solid spell, but it's held back by a couple of things in my opinion. Firstly, it's a bonus action... which is usually great, but since Wild Shape is _also_ a bonus action, it's actually kinda rough. It means you're needing at least two turns to set things up in most cases. (You don't _have_ to Wild Shape to use it, but your base melee stats are pretty mediocre otherwise and it doesn't work with Shilaleagh.) Secondly, there are several other similar "buff my melee" spells that easily supercede it, like Conjure Minor Elementals, Fount of Moonlight, etc. Guardian does have its advantages, like the major accuracy buff it gives, but I still feel like it tends to fall a bit short. Legend Lore is a spell that runs either really hot or really cold, I find, because its effect is 100% up to the GM. Other divination spells like Commune, Divination, etc, tend to give you some degree of control over things, but LL can sometimes just absolutely flub because the GM is feeling stingy, which I find a bit frustrating. It also has a pretty costly material component at 250gp, which is definitely not trivial at the level you get access to it. Still, it can potentially award a lot of information very easily, so it's useful as something to maybe try once or twice and test the waters to see what kind of info the GM is willing to give you. Fear is at its absolute best against humanoid or tool-using enemies, because of the specification of "drops anything it is holding." Obviously, the pseudo-stun of forcing them to waste their whole turn running is great, but against any enemy that primarily makes weapon attacks they drop their weapon and run... leaving you free to snatch it up, kick into a pit, etc. Similarly, if the whole reason you're fighting an encounter is to get some macguffin away from the Big Bad (a pretty common scenario), one failed save can mean you reclaim The Cube of Infinite Destinies before the fight is even over and make things a whole lot easier on yourself. Absolutely fantastic spell, S+ Tier quite easily. As noted in the video, the only real downsides are the immunity many enemies have and the slightly small AoE (since a 30' cone at 3rd level is pretty much always gonna be worse than comparable options such as Fireball.)
Fear rules - was running a difficult one-shot just this weekend, and late in the battle with the party low on hit points, the sorcerer dropped a crucial Fear and sent three trolls and a wyvern running. Vital to their survival!
Ice knife especially with initiate sorcery giving advantage on the attack roll and increasing the spell save dc add that with the draconic sorcerer ability to add your charisma mod to the cold damage roll , its value has gone up in my opinion. Primal savagery also in my opinion is underated while not the best is a decent option for a spell caster to not have disadvantage in melee range plus its only somatic so you can use while in the spell silence or if you don't have your spell casting focus its a good fall back against things that normally shut down casters
Oh yes, healing word can be a powerful spell. Let me put it this way. I’m an old-school D&D player. Think about this. You’re a cleric. You have healing word you’re in the middle of a graveyard and there are zombies use healing word and you can clean out a graveyard
It depends on what you mean by underrated. Healing in 5e has always been underrated, by design, until 2024. Personally, I've always liked Cure Wounds better, BECAUSE of the restrictions. You should have to take some risk to save your companions.
@ThisCrits every single person I've ever played the game with takes healing word when they can. +all the people who talk about it online healing word is not underrated
I had a DM once we were I had a Hoefling monk and he asked me if there was anything that I’d like to customize with it. I am not familiar with a parody song from the frantic called. Tie quan leep if you’re not, I would suggest you look at it. It would explain a lot more, but I came up with an idea for a customized spell that I could summon that wheel because I was a disciple of this specific type of kung fu. I could summon a celestial boot and I can summon them based off of my level that I had achieved, I got to like seven or eight and I could summon these things at will. You could use the same thing just summon a celestial object of your choice, hammer sword whatever I just wondered if you thought this was amusing or not. Oh and boot to the head
@ if you go on UA-cam type in boot to the head and look for either the group the Franics or Thai Quan leap watch it annual understand the comedy. I’ve been a fan of them for a very long time since a friend introduced me to this specific song or whatever you wanna call it but it’s hilarious as hell and like to bring the unexpected to the game and me and the had discussed this and he like the idea he got a good laugh out of it and I thought it was funny and it gives the character character is a halfling and this just makes it all the funnier
@@ThisCrits Back in 3.5 theres was an enemy made of bushes, like the one whit animal forms in some gardens. If the monster have the sice and form of a T-rex it have stats to mach the form. This one it's the same, a bear made of bushes, thorns and vines. Yep, it hit like a bear.

my lich had so much fun with reverse gravity. especially the enchanted patio / doormat in front of one of his towers.
Here I was waiting for Spike Growth the whole video
Sir, this is an UNDERRATED spells video.
@ it’s the reason rangers are the strongest class in the game… got ‘em
@@ThisCrits I’m confident that I was the only one who used spike growth up until Baldur’s Gate 3 came out lol
@@therealjoshT this right here 👆🏻
Otto’s dance sounds cool
There is a fine line between letting people enjoy the game and changing the game to cater to people's feelings.
Good thing I don't care about my players feelings 😈

Idk dude. I really don’t think that Healing Word is an underrated spell.
Really? That's crazy? I very much disagree and think you sir are very wrong.

ye, basically everyone knows it's awesome.
Legend lore is the only spell on here my players have used. I like the creativity of these though!
Legend lore is great! Glad you enjoyed to picks!
The first and only time legend lore was used in a game I ran was an NPC lol
@ Hahahah thats great
I love warding bond. Two rings for the win..
I really like it too and yet I don't think I have ever seen it used lol
