@@turg993 Thanks bro! To update you all, I'm so glad I got my locs. I pierced my nose too following that same mindset in my original comment. I was in the military and they wouldn't let me do anything with my hair. Then I started getting bumps on the back of my head from ingrown hairs because they forced me to cut it so low. Now I'm out of the military and I can't have a normal fade hair cut because of the bumps. Guess its time to grow it and lock it up.

Marsel P to add to what @dadirtytroll was saying, how long did it take your hair to grow from a fresh cut to where it’s at around 13:05? I’m about 3 full months in, 2-3 inches of hair so far
DaDirtyTroll damn bro, I’m sry to hear that, been hearing a lot of mixed experiences with starters so I’m trying to get all the perspectives so I can prepare cause I’m all in at this point
I usually go once a month sometime 4-6 weeks because they are fully locked. In the beginning I would try to go every 4 weeks just to keep them maintained
I just have twist in my hair. I've been growing mine since January of this year. Do you retwist them your self when it gets Frizzy? How often would you retwist them. And long did it take to loc?
Mines gonna be on the first few weeks part lol it's going to start off ugly but that's ok I'm getting it tomorrow my friend just got his dreadlocks 3 days ago but I got more hair then him so I'm good
yea man yo hair grow pretty damn fast. but what month did yo hair just kind of start lockin and when you got yo hair done, did you leave them alone until they locked or did you go get them retwisted when it was time?
I been watching this video before I even started my dreads lol, I just started on the 3rd of this month. It’s been a week with my coils and my mom and my brother can already tell my coils are growing
Nine months in it may seem like a long time you’re going to have to wait before your dreads actually start looking good and locking up but that time will fly by really fast so just trust the process no matter how long or short your hair is you can still get dreads but it’s easier to do it on long hair
Better to take them out now than have to cut it and start Over lol but make sure you tell them and remind exactly how you want it done because they always have an idea of how they want to do it in theirs
You remember how much it was for starter locs? Im thinking bout doing this .. professionlly done .. but i'd hate cutting if not done right , don't "look" right , etc .
I'm about start my goddess locs, I enjoyed the video thanks much, this damn music though 😒😂. I had to turn off....S/N I couldn't help but notice how high you were 😂😂😂

Man I feel you it is a bill lol I would try to wait like 2 months instead of 1 month to get retwisted so you can stack up and maybe wash it yourself self at 1 month. Or I would try to learn how to retwist it myself
Hey... did you just do this once (in September) and then just let them grow or did you like twist them everyday so that they stay curled up? If I twist them by finger or sponge, they just get loose on the next day. :(
Yea that’s the hardest part about it. When mine itches, I try to scratch it and if that doesn’t work I try to spray it with moisturizer or sometimes I even put a little bit of water in my hands and then rub my scalp with it.
question bro. So i have dreads on top of my head but the back of it shaved but i was thinking about letting my whole head grow. Should I just grow the back out too or should i just cut it all off and start over?
When I was growing my Afro for my dreads I used to do the nudred brush to get my Afro curly but I didn’t try to start the dreads with it. I preferred going to the shop. For now I spray my hair with this stuff called guava infused mist every few days and I wrap t up with a dread cap or silky bandana at night
What do you think I need to do to get my hair to look like it does at 13:10 This is a look I've tried to get several times but every time I try it never ends up as I want it to.
I just use this spray my friends mom makes it has grape seed oil and some other stuff I’m not sure of. I’m going to find out for real what the shop uses to retwist cus I keep forgetting
Sooo like i have a hair full of dreads but I have 6 dreads at my crown area... started them 3 weeks ago so see the hair is thinner there... and it wouldn’t loc so I retwisted it to have thicker dreads there...should I keep the 6 dreads or go back and have the loctitian do her thang. I believe she had me with like 12-14 dreads there
+Fleece johnson Preciate it! At the shop I go to they used some type of loc and twist gel but it wasn't mango and lime, then they would put me under the dryer. I haven't tried taking any vitamins. I do drink a good amount of water, I fill up a 32oz cup about twice a day so I'd say about a gallon a day sometimes less. For my routine, I wear a dread cap at night or whenever I take a nap, when I wake up I use my hands as a comb to "wake my dreads up" because they're always flat. I use a shower cap when I get in the shower. I was only washing once a month for the first year but now I am going to go wash every 2-3 weeks. I have a spray bottle with 4/5 water and 1/5 of oils in it like grape seed and some other stuff I get from my friend's mom. I spray that on my head every other day to keep it moisturized. I also was using Jamaican black castor oil maybe 3-4 times a month on my hairline an scalp to help with growth.
My purpose for starting over was I didn't like how my dreads looked, I wanted them to be thicker. I tried combining them but I didn't like how that looked afterwards so I cut them off. I guess the benefit would be that you know how your hair grows and it'll be easier to choose if you want them thick or thin. Also it's easier to maintain them because you already know what to expect.
Marsel P I'm twisting my boys hair for the first time and I was under the impression the locks thickens over time. Thank you for the clarification brother.

Very inspiring 👏
Getting my dreads tomorrow, just wanted to see how I wanted this and how they would look when I first start them
That’s a bet I have around 84-85 dreads right now and they are thicker the first set I had about 120-130 and they were smaller but still good size
1 year 4 months is 11 months for me probably caz i style an retwist often
DAMN! What do you out in your hair man? Also, which shampoo do you use and do you wrap your hair at night?
Cant wait to get my dreads
You can get a curl sponge until it’s time to lock it up, I think that may help lol
But my hair to big to be sponge that's what my barber told me
Hey! Have you ever counted your locks? Aproxamatly how many do you have?
what kind of style is that in 15:32
They were comb coils it was just the was they twisted them and clipped them down so some of them were going to the side and some to the back
Wow cant waint mine reach there
Between your 6 to month on the third set how many retwists did you have?
Are those interlocks or finger coils?
The 3rd set go way harder....
Preciate it, I finally got it right lol

What products did u use?
Do u take any vitamins?
How much water do u drink aday on average?
Whats your regeimn / routine?
I also was using Jamaican black castor oil maybe 3-4 times a month on my hairline an scalp to help with growth.
at what length did you get the first twist
Did the horse 🐎 live?
What is the purpose/benefit of restarting the process? Thank you brother.
Did you start with 2 strand twist?
Nah I started with comb coils
