How I Got a Software Engineering Internship at Amazon (after taking just one CS class)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 лип 2024
- I didn't believe I had what it would take to get a job in the tech industry. I was a junior, had just started my CS major, and had only completed an introductory CS course when I was applying to FAANG. But, with some persistence and a healthy dose of luck, my efforts paid off! 🙇🏽♀️
My experience at Amazon helped launch my career in tech; but, it was also symbolic of all the struggle I went through to find a tech job in the first place. In this video, I will be going over my experience applying to tech internships in college, and how I landed my internship at Amazon! 💼
This is based on a Quora answer I wrote about 1.5 years ago, which you can read here: qr.ae/TWRwt5 ✏️

Can you help with the interview or recruiting process? At the time, I do not offer career consulting services. However, there are plenty of other programs available on Google that provide such services.

Hlw sister pls help , I am computer engineering student , but I forgot everything ( Due to lockdown 😁) , I learned in computer engineering , .. so , how I improve my coding skills and logic implement . Now is to much difficult to understand python , algorithm , ds etc in online college lecture. , Pls help me 🥺🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Very inspiring! I must say you mentioned "read Cracking the Coding Interview front to back" very casually. That's no small feat!
Thank you for sharing! I'm also a junior rn and just getting started in my cs course sequence. I felt really behind because most cs majors started doing internships in their sophomore or even freshmen year... but your story really gave me the confidence to "put myself out there"! Better start doing the leetcode questions for today LOL
It’s great to see all the preparation you’ve done to get this internship.
Idk there’s something so good about this whole video, tech aspect apart (of course that’s awesome too) ! Something makes this extremely relatable and light ! Great content and epic editing !
I feel that I could relate so much to your interview experiences (just the case that, I don't get success in competitive coding). This was really encouraging, thanks a lot!
Most real and practical interview experience i ever seen. Every other one is like i have done this. But the thing is its all about timing and luck along with the constant practice.
Thank you for your advice! I am a rising Junior and I also didn't have tech internship before ( I did get offer before, but for some reason I didn't work there). Your hardwork behind the headline is incredible and is paying back!
You were bound to find a job, its all about consistency. This is motivating, good job
I really like how you kept on going and finally got what you wanted! Your videos have been a great inspiration for me to start my own journey and channel!
Proper set up and execution!! As a software engineering major!! This gives me the up most confidence
Your video editing skills are amazing, gives off a very chill vibe.
The content is direct and super helpful as well!
thank you, I appreciate it!
Instilled positive vibes!! I really felt motivated and refreshing after watching this :)
That's great to hear! :)

Thank you so much for sharing your journey and it truly motivated, to stay patient and keep learning. Please keep on making such videos.🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Your journey sounds similar to mine! It’s so important not to give up even after a series of rejections! Luck & timing are key 🙏🏾

Oh, LOL, you’re an engineer! No wonders your Notion video was awesome and on point!
Thank you for sharing! I'm glad it's not just a 'referral that many talked about. When many of us don't know anyone to refer to.
Your experience has encouraged be a lot to just apply and do it without being afraid of rejections. I'm happy it turned out well for you
Your content is very motivating! And you have a wonderful personality ☺️
The editing is genuinely amazing. You are so well spoken and qualified, but your humility and honesty really shine and will help so many ppl ❤️❤️

Thanks for this video. I had to change majors because I couldn't get past Data Structures but I'll keep trying with your methods.
Your way of delivering your thoughts is really amazing
Thanks. I am currently in first round of SWE internship application, and this is good motivation for the time being.
This is awesome 😄 I’m applying to FAANG and other similar companies at the moment, this has been motivating 👊🏽

Thank you so much for this video. I saw this posted on Career Karma! I am so glad to find your channel.
I’m so happy for you. I share your journey but from the Sales side of AWS. Hopefully we can connect, I admire your dedication!
Can you share what is your work profile and how you got there? I am interested in learning AWS and am learning from freecodecamp right now.
I have a Microsoft interview next week and I am very nervous. I literally just started taking a python class.
Wish me luck! Update: So I passed the first round of interviews , and will be attending a virtual explore where I will do my second rounds .
Thanks everyone for the well wishes ! And if anyone has any tips for the interviews and what I should expect :) . Thanks !
Another update: I didn’t get the internship, but the interview was so chill don’t be to tough on yourself. And if anyone knows of any other internships, please feel free to comment :).
Girl, good luck!
Good luck!! 🤗
Is it the explore internship

Thank you for the video, just the motivation i needed at this time.
Love your videos and energy! Thank you so much for the inspiration!
You are a very amazing and creative editor.
Imagine getting asked Two sum and being hired. Wtff Edit: ( I also got into Amazon this year, SDE-1 but had to go through 4 *medium-hard* technical rounds)
That's crazy, but good for her!
yea dude I'm kinda jealous
That's like crazy fkin luck
The interviewer must be a simp or nepo product picker😂😂😂
How is it working there?
Popped up in my recommended tab. No regrets watching it 👌👌
Clarity in your thoughts is amazing ❤️
Well done and kudos to u for sharing such an honest video.
Hi, there just discovered your video and thanks for this amazing and inspiring video! I wanna say that I got same feelings as hearing from you that you wanted to cancel your Amazon interview as you don’t wanna waste you and your interviewers’ time. This really tells stories for us new job seekers! 😭😭😭
I just graduated from Uni and after submitting dozens of applications I got my first phone interview last week, which I think I screwed it up coz I was also extremely nervous and trying to showcase as much as possible with my influent English. It has been a bloody quite week for me that I have not hear anything back from my applications and I felt so bad for myself. This week I am super slow and I only solve 1 LeetCode question each day, as I am literally kinda lost and starting to question myself. 😣😣😣
Your video really motivated me to keep working and practicing. Yes that’s true because you will never know when your next interview coming! So the only way to land a tech job is to GET WELL PREPARED! Stop thinking too much
This video really opened my eyes and i feel so motivated by this. Thank you🙏🏻
Wow. This just inspired me just now. Thank you.
Inspiring video! I’m interning at Amazon right now and this is great advice I’d share with others :)
Referee lga do,
This video made me a bit calm
I'm like chill babes you just need to keep trying!!!! And never lose hope .
This video is an inspiration to many. Thanks for posting 🤗🤗
Thanks a lot. You made it very clear. Thanks for this video now I realised I'm not alone. 🙌 Btw love this video 🤩🤩
I have been feeling very dis motivated I’ve applied to so many companies and haven’t herd back. But watching your video may have given me the confidence to keep trying!
You got this!
Same here, I have been applying but hasn’t been many responses (ghosted). Good news is that my resume has gotten a dramatic makeover over the span of 2 weeks and I am feeling a bit more confident!
I love the way you explain every Topics in a fluent way.......😊😊😊😊
Di ur video is awesome literally the most motivated thing is getting a job at Amazon without a cse academic background ❤️

I had the opportunity to interact with Mr. Harsha Vardhan who is presently working as Software Engineer at Microsoft IDC and we tried our best to bust the myth "IIT and NIT necessary for MNC jobs".
Harsha Vardhan has very well explained how you can grab off-campus opportunities and make your dream come true
Many Congratulations, getting to Amazon is no small feat, thx for sharing your experience with others
I just saw this it's cool and inspiring, thought I was the only one getting rejection emails. Well am still pushing and working as hard as I can
There's always something about the last interview that just works out. In May, my employer informed us we're shutting down due to covid in August so I only had roughly 3 months to find a new job before I'd be unemployed. I applied like crazy and eventually my schedule piled up to having two-three interviews a day!! I was super confident with my tech skills but with two-three interviews a day, the question I was always stumped on was "why this company." Each day I'd see the basic email of "we're moving on with another applicant at this time" and my hopes were going down. My last interview was the first company and interview I had signed up for actually. Since they're schedule was so busy, my first interview offer ended up being my last interview. I was so done at this point, it was the beginning of August and I was losing my job in a few days. Still decided to give it a shot, so I sat in front of my laptop on a Friday afternoon and joined the Zoom meeting. At the end of it, there was something about that interview that just felt different. Monday morning I woke up with my phone ringing to a job offer from them :) Moral of the story, please please don't give up!
What an inspiring story!! My experience was pretty similar -- it's just about waiting for that moment when everything aligns and feels 'right.'
The way you presented is just awesome and the editing is NXT level with cute gifs & animations! 🤯
Overall it's amazing! 👍🏼
Glad that I found there is no secret sauce at the end & started to work on my skills!! 💥
Thanks! And best of luck!
Thank you H. This was very helpful.
TwoSum question on a final round at Amazon?!!!?!?!? when you said a sprinkle of luck I think you meant a ton of luck 😩
Seriously, getting TwoSum as a final round question is like asking a math major what 2+2 is. There is no easier technical question for a final round.
@@zkistler what is a TwoSum question?
@@aryannegi9414 Given an array of integers return the two whose sum adds up to a given value. It's one of the first problems you solve when you begin practicing coding.
