  • It is sometimes necessary to spray tall trees for bugs, diseases, or foliar feeding. There aren't any cheap effective systems on the market. This is a DIY cheap and easy method.

    What an excellent idea!!! Thank you for taking the time to make this video. The webworms won't be able to climb out of my reach anymore.

    You just saved me a couple hundred dollars. I was about to sign a contract with a company to come and spray my avocado trees up on Omaopio Rd. that have early onset lace bug infestation. They would have come every 2 weeks to spray organic spray until after the tree blossomed. Keep making videos. Smart, short, and practical.

      I sprayed a lot of Neem oil and soap on my tree in Kihei 2021-22 and it didn't have any significant impact. The ALB devastated my tree. I have a large "butter pear" type grown from seed. I have lost one season so far. Had 3 avos instead of 300. Ernie Resents, Ag guru at UH (retired) suggests using Sevin. A great deal depends on the variety of avo you have and your elevation. You are much higher than I am and should experience less of an impact. People down the street from me have a different smaller variety, minor ALB, and a fine crop. ALB has been on the mainland for decades from California to South America and on both the east and west coasts. In Hawaii, we were lucky to escape till Dec. 2019. There are no easy answers for the ALB.

    Thanks so much I’ve been looking for a way to get moss killer to the all areas of the roof while standing on the ground. This concept is golden.

      You are most welcome. I had not considered spraying roofs but it certainly should work. It might be good to angle the nozzle down a bit, about 45-60 degrees, so the spray is pointed downward at the roof rather than just a portion of the spray going to the roof and the rest going in the air. Since the tube at the nozzle is plastic, it can be bent using a heat gun or hairdryer....carefully because it is easy to kink the plastic. Best wishes for success!!!

    You are amazing! I have struggled with spruce budworm on my blue spruce trees for years. I found a systemic drench that you pour around the base of the tree, but you can't buy it in Canada. I can get the right sprays in Canada, but could never reach high enough until now! You are absolutely brilliant!

    No need for all this. Purchase a Flowzone backpack sprayer. It shoots 30 feet right out of the box with one of the 3 nozzles it comes with.

    • @buckjoiner9375
      @buckjoiner9375  Рік тому +2

      The one that will shoot 30 ft will only cost you $365 and won't do the job. Yes the Concrete+ Typhoon 2.5 Flowzone backpack sprayer will shoot a very narrow stream 30 ft. Our objective is to spray the underside of all the leaves and that very narrow Flowzone stream would be like trying to paint a billboard with a ballpoint pen. Also, that narrow stream will be disrupted by lower level leaves thereby leaving the highest leaves untouched. However, for an additional $250 you can buy a telescoping pole that extends to 24 ft. and you can put a fan tip on it. Total cost $615 OR, for About 1/20 of the cost you can build the design presented in the video.

    The idea looks great, but it didn't work for me. I might have assumed too much.... .. May I have two questions? In your setup, what is the inner diameter of vinyl tube? And is there anything particular on the nozzle size/type? My failure seems to be the low pressure coming out of nozzle ??? Appreciate any helps.

    • @buckjoiner9375
      @buckjoiner9375  Рік тому +3

      I honestly don't know the diameter of the vinyl tube. I just have a bunch laying around and kept sticking something on until I find one that fits. And whatever I'm using might not fit your situation. If you're near a big box hardware store, take the parts down there and buy what fits exactly for you. If the nozzle isn't spraying, check for clogs. Unscrew the nozzle and squeeze the trigger to make sure the blockage isn't in the trigger or line elsewhere. My nozzle clogs frequently.
