Nice to hear the actual sounds. The ETI version had an analogue sound board, that mimics the original Space Invaders sounds, but none are known to be working, and the Microtan doesn't have the sound board. It'd be nice to see some decent photos of the board so can be compared with the schematics of the ETI project.
I happen to own this machine. The CPU is a 6503. The code seems to contain anti-hack tricks such as jumps to fixed 16-bit addresses pointing outside of the memory space the 6503 can handle. The 6503 doesn't care as the higher address bits are ignored, but one who wants to disassemble the code must consider this in order to make the jumps refer to the correct areas of code, and therefore, the said areas properly labeled.
Glad you lost a life because I was thinking how much the missile firing sound was like (possibly the same) as the Oric's ZAP command sound and I wanted to know of it did the EXPLODE sound when you got killed, but seems not, nice space invaders clone.
@@ngbarnes I did watch the video, but I had it in the background. I must have missed it. It would be amazing to have this added to MAME. Thanks for the reply!
A fascinating piece of kit.
Id definitely like to hear more of Debbie's tales of those times as alluded to here.
It's always nice to find something I've never seen.

A friend and I actually did build the Microtan 65 Space Invasion as detailed in ETI.
Smashing little machine.
Was this also original coding too? It looks quite similar to what Epoch in Japan were doing at the time.
Very similar in shape. Didn't the Epoch invader have a VFD on it?
Helloooooo yououou.
that case really reminds me of a zx80

Will you be dumping the ROM?
If you actually watched the video then you'd know they say they've dumped the ROM.
