CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Oliver (Michael Douglas) is astonished and disgusted when Barbara (Kathleen Turner) feeds him his own dog.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Divorce lawyer Danny De Vito warns his prospective client that the story he's about to tell isn't a pretty one, but the client listens with eager intensity -- as do the folks out there in the movie in the audience. The War of the Roses can best be described as a slapstick tragedy concerning the decline and literal fall of a marriage. After 17 years, Oliver (Michael Douglas) and Barbara (Kathleen Turner) Rose want a divorce. Not for this couple is there anything resembling a "civilized understanding": Barbara wants their opulent house, and Oliver isn't about to part with the domicile. Barbara nails the basement door shut while Oliver is downstairs, Oliver disrupts Barbara's fancy party by taking aim at the catered dinner, Barbara lays waste to Oliver's sports car....and so it goes, culminating in a disastrous showdown around, about and under the living room's fancy chandelier. DeVito and screenwriter Michael Leeson never let us forget that the couple's self-indulgent imbroglio exacts an awful price upon their children (Sean Astin and Heather Fairfield). The War of the Roses was adapted from the novel by Warren Adler.

The way his face changes after she says "woof!" OMG! M. Douglas is great.
He could have saved himself a lot of grief if he just accepted that she didn’t love him (at least not much) and he was just making her hate him more by staying around. Sometimes you just have to cut your losses and move on…
She did love him, all his Bullshit made her cut her losses 😊
I love the dog after he saids Goddamn you! So she didn't kill the dog! This was the orginal mr.&Mrs. Smith
I thought the same lol
In the orginal scrip she did kill the dog, but it did not go down in tests, in fact the audience hated her because of it
@@alanaspinall7147 In the book she did kill the dog and made pâté which he ate. The book was better than the movie, did not intend to be funny, but rather the tragedy of a marriage
One of my favorite scenes in one of my all time favorite movies! Kathleen Turner and Michael Douglas were absolutely brilliant in this movie. And the look on her face - the first time I saw this scene, I actually believed she had made doggy pate LoL.
The deeper the love, the deeper the hate 🥰
Love ❤️ ur comment....u are soo right!!!!👍but it's sad ain't it to have the hate as deep as the love 😔💔
@@NathanHiggers-mp2eo There's a lot of truth in that. I don't think what he's saying is particularly stupid though. But it is a really worn-out cliché. And not true most of the time.
there is something fundamentally wrong about this belief and accepting such nonsense is what perpetuates the abuse cycle. There are very old couples married for decades who are deeply in love and treat each other every day like they are the luckiest people alive to have each other. And when one of them dies, the deeper their love the deeper the sadness
Love doesn’t need to contrast only with hate, it can also contrast with loss
@@memeblock5665 Thats true, but commenting that thing on murdering an innocent pet, like "ohh, the deaper the hate is
“Woof!”
Is it possible to laugh and say “damn!” at the same time?!
A-ha-ha I lived for years under the burden of false memories that she indeed grilled Benny
I nevet got why she got so angry at him.
He should have shut his mouth and left her alone for awhile.
Absolutely brilliant acting from them both!
Benny was outside the entire time.
I remember first time watching this I had completely different outlook on the development of the story. Now I see, You start enjoying this movie after you've *passed the point of no return*.
Benny you lucky dog. You didn't know it but you were almost pate.
"Woof" "A good dog till the last bite!"
You never EVER touch a man's dog.

@@Pennywise-hn5qw Well, that WAS an accident.
She didn't she was just f*cking with him.
@John Mateus lololololololol
A lot of guys can't handle the ending scene. Yes she did push his hand off her shoulder!
my mom always have hated that scene
@@alimarpr1110 girls too
@John Mateus Nope!
@John Mateus ahh so you agree!!!
@John Mateus Well Mr. Spock explain!!!
Benny? That was hilarious. Love Michael Douglas. Was hoping to find the scene where she makes fun of his laugh and then he does it on the phone with his boss as she's hanging it up. hee hee
Uuuh huuuuh huuuhhh huuuuhh 🤣
Micheal Douglas always plays the lawyer..lol and it is kind of his fault he made her feel like if what she wanted didn’t matter..
There's a difference in between love and obsession. I think he became obsessed as to why she wanted to divorce him. Why couldn't he just get on with the divorce? Lol
Because she used his farewell letter to get the house she never paid for.
no woman is worth any kind of trouble they are all trouble and Im being polite about this shite
@@voidw4lker The house and everything in it.
@@voidw4lker He was being petty. She only asked for the house. She could've asked for half
One reason is because she just randomly woke up and decided she hated his guts. Many breakups and divorces don't necessarily have hard feelings, but she loathed him out of nowhere. It is hard to accept sometimes
When you truly I mean truly love someone enough is never enough....sad when the hate becomes deeper than the love 😭💔😔💯
She was eggin him on with that comment because she wanted a knock-down drag-out and she knew that would do it. lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣 Best scene ever!
Talk about a toxic marriage gone from bad to worse. Yikes!😬
I thought this was about the house and now he says it's always been about her?
¡¡Qué fuerte!!
Im crazy for this exceptional. Movie ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The dog. Lol
"I think I'm a nice person as far as people go..."
As soon as he said that if I were Barbara I'd be like: "Oliver, I'm your wife, I know you better than anyone else in the world and I can tell you 'you are no good person.' If fact, you are a horrible person."
"What can we do to patch things up?"
BARBARA: Bring my cat back to life, apologize to my clients and buy me new shoes and we'll talk...
Yes, Oliver was a unaware narcissist and Barbara the empathic was having a supernova moment on him!! 😂.
@John Mateus He should've apologized, yes I can. He didn't want to reconcile. He just wanted to win the battle. Barbara clearly didn't love him anymore and wanted a very fair divorce but his ego was bruised so he deliberately went to great links to make it a million times horrible. HE is at fault.
@John Mateus That fact that she hated him should told him something. He's suppose to be a lawyer and he couldn't figure out that there was no means of reconciliation. She did not "blow up" the marriage. He killed her cat, he ruined her did party, he chased her around the house with a crowbar... Sadly, after all that he still thought she wanted him sexually but even after nearly having his junk bitten off and their hanging from the chandelier he really thought that she still loved him? Did he cheat on his bar exam? Does he not know what a divorce consists of? Does he not realized that he put her through more hell than needed? Does he think that her nearly castrating is code for "I love you?" He's an idiot and a jerk.
@John Mateus Yeah, she killed his dog, embarrassed him at his firm, cut up his shoes, chased him with a crowbar... Yeah, sure. All Barbara's fault. (sarcasm).
@John Mateus So, when did your divorce happen and how ugly was it?
She doesn't kill the dog.
Christian Contreras: NOT to be rude but both died🤣🤣🤣
I'm sure she did in the script but the studio probably thought it would make her too unlikable and she would lose the audience sympathy which was crucial for the balance of the story
@@jeanmarienadal7268 I know that. I've seen the movie. Was referring to the dog. After he yells at here the camera shows the dog alive and is outside

He said originally that it was about the house now he says he wants her and he thinks she'll take him back after everything he's done to her?
I believe both Roses were equally sadistic to each other.
@@melanieparker I see.

I think when someone is killing my cat i never ever would open the door of the solarium...😈
Woof
This movie makes him look like a workaholic husband who wasn’t around, which is a problem, but she’s clearly insane and went way too far. I don’t know if that was the intention, but usually in these kinds of movies, the guy is clearly in the wrong and just being stupid. Not here. She’s vindictive and calculating. She’s out for revenge. His anger is reactionary. Maybe he should know when it’s over and give it up, but that’s not easy. You don’t want to believe the person you love has lost their mind. And this isn’t about men vs women. Usually it’s the guy behaving like this in my experience. But this is lunatic stuff from her end.

Stay Red Pilled aware fellas
Something tells me if he had gave her what she wanted and embraced the idea of splitting with a smile on his face she would of been singing a different tune. Women tend not to take rejection or acceptance of rejection very well lol
But she didn't get rejected. He did
@John Mateus she is not crazy. She just does not love him anymore and wants to move on. But of course some men do not understand this- she rejects me so she must be crazy.
@@vietumy7024 That guy has been all through these comments transparently blaming her character because he's, no doubt, working through some personal issues vicariously through Michael Douglas's character.
Probably watches this movie and cries himself to sleep at night. 😂
Benny was well and good.
How could he believe that she'd be so mean?
Oh yeah. He convinced himself. Her. And everyone else that she was.
Classic!

So I thought of this clip as I ate my chimichangas with dog meat, opps I mean shredded beef, and my dog was eyeing the food. I told her she wouldn't want it, as it was dog meat. I did a woof at her and all the sudden I had to see the clip again.🤣
You eat dog?
@@extremelyreligiousdolphin750 Woof! Woof!
@@chloewoods5683 you still eat dogs??
I thought that given the overall tone of the film, it was weird that they inserted that one shot showing that the dog was alive. Meanwhile, the cat gets killed off for real. This made me a little angry. Now I don’t like seeing any kind of pets killed off in movies, but if you absolutely insist on doing it to the (gorgeous) cat, then the dog shouldn’t get any special treatment 😄
i mean you're right but that would've made barbara a bad b**ch
The cat got run over by accident
@John Mateus He gave her money, yes. Emotional support and respect? No. You can’t continuously put someone down and treat them as less-than and expect them to love you forever as long as you give them materialistic valuables. It’s an unrealistic expectation narcissists seem to have and they don’t understand why things don’t go well with their relationships in the end. They usually get divorced more than a few times during their lifetime as well. (Hint: They never learn.)
Oliver didn't kill her cat on purpose, it was an accident.
@John Mateus im pretty sure i heard somewhere, that is what happened. She was scripted to literally have cooked his dog but it was the one thing test audiences said was too cruel.
I'm a cancer woman my current boyfriend is Libra man, this is exactly our relationship, he wants me to give him reasons and communicate with him which I'm not capable of doing, even if want to tell him it's sooo hard to explain and express myself instead I get really angry and end it all without being able to give him any reason, I understand why she was unable to express herself, I just don't understand why it's hard to do, my heart goes for him trying to understand her which exactly my Libra man do asking me reasons pushing me to tell him and communicate with him all the time which I can't I don't know why, so hard, so sad,
It's not because he's a Libra, it's because he's mature and wants to be on the same page. Plenty of Libras I know are all different. Same with all signs, it comes down to a persons personality traits, life experience, readiness and compatibility. Perhaps you are not compatible. I've met someone with the exact same bday as me and we couldn't be more different.
@@LuxMeow I agree other factors matter and all signs are not the same, but when it comes to communication of most cancer women and Libra man....this scene shows what happens exactly, I've been in relationship with 7 Libra man....they've more similarities than differences, and I've been with 2 Scorpio man and cancer man and we never had to communicate a lot to understand each other like I tried so hard to communicate with Libra man and most times it's so difficult to explain emotions with reasons because emotions are complex and we don't even understand it fully sometimes to put them out verbally, and Libra man wants cancer woman to express and explain her emotions with words....words that has reasons and logic behind it, I've heard this from lots of Libra/cancer relationship too, other factors matter so does signs,
Redpill movie
No it isn't. If you watched the movie you'd know that. He was a wealthy attorney but she didn't ask for spousal support or money. She only wanted the house but he wanted to be petty
Funny comments always have to have the one reply to spoil it
I can see a remake with Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish
Wouldn't work.
Why remake a perfect movie?
Ummmmm no. Don't ruin a good thing with untalented unknowns.
You're dumb.
This is why I stopped going to the movies. The need to tap another market via race swapping roles by another race in the original is disrespectful to all stars in the original. Also wouldn't that be cultural appropriation? Imagine four young white actors playing the leads in Boyz in the Hood remade. Oh wait, They already did it, it was called The Outsiders.
All marriage is for a lot of women is purely financial gain.
Yup
You must be a man
Lol she didn't even want to be with him. She wanted to get away from him, own the house that she had worked on furnishing and earn her own money from her catering business. Unless you're going to pay attention to the movie and say something that actually relates don't talk utter tripe
@John Mateus And she was the one that put the whole entire house together whilst Oliver just left her all on her own to do it. He didn't even want her to own a business because he is controlling and manipulativr as hell. She decided that she didn't want to be with him anymore because she couldn't put up with his condescending and egotistical personality any longer. He didn't want her to be independent despite being able to buy a new house and replace everything. He pushed her beyond her mental limit in every way possible. So actually, I paid attention to the movie, you clearly didn't bother to see it from Barbras point of view.
Not an uncommon female response: she’s unhappy, she doesn’t know why, but nevertheless, everyone around her had better be understanding.
He should have read her contract I guess.
It's easy to spot all the guys whose wives can't stand them 😆
jajajajaj!!!!
