I thought it would be nice to have a step down to get out of the tent in the middle of the night to pee. turns out it is a great way to have cold air rush into the tent with any slight breeze. I won't be doing that again! I do still like to dig out a pit inside the tent, so I can sit on a "bench".
I do that all the time! I just stamp really hard in front of my skis so I get a little trench. You could also bring a small foam sit pad and put that on the skis, so it is a little warmer and softer.

Very true! Sorry about that, the tent is about 9 pounds, the stove is about 4.5 pounds. Thanks for pointing that out!
