Absolute animal. I got in touch with the band and their music for the first time at a festival this year and it was totally blasting. And the energy this drummer is bringing in is just amazing. totally fell in love with them and their music
I feel like the first verse talks of depression and depersonalization. The talk of the art of dying, is like buddhist philosophy of Attatchment being the root of all pain. He is "thr kind that kills all day" meaning his life is painful, but he "does not know yet how to die" where "the art of dying is the way to let all go". In other words, his life sucks, hes attached to it despite this, and doesnt know how to let go (like the buddhists teach), continuing his pain. When he finally does, hes gonna start his life over essentially, completely fresh. Bringing nothing from his old painful life, to his "afterlife". Starting over in life means "dying" in your old one, and the attatchments we have to even painful lives, make that hard. I feel like thats what its about
And we got the mirror of society right now in the first part: "Breathing slowly, mechanical heartbeat" - This line suggests a sense of monotonous existence, where one's breathing and heartbeat have become mechanical, devoid of vitality and passion. "Losing contact with the living" - It implies a disconnection from genuine human experiences and emotions, possibly due to being absorbed in an artificial and detached lifestyle. "Almighty TV plugged, hybrid empty brain" - This line reflects the influence of media and technology on society. The reference to the TV being plugged suggests its dominance and power, while the "hybrid empty brain" may allude to a mind that lacks independent thought and is filled with superficial or empty content. "Don't see anything real in the game" - It implies a disillusionment with the artificiality and lack of authenticity in the world, specifically referring to the metaphorical "game" of life. "The tension is building constantly, no reason, just a reflex I have, driven by clockwork" - This line speaks to the relentless pressure and stress that people experience, seemingly without a clear reason or purpose. The imagery of being driven by clockwork further emphasizes the mechanized and automated nature of daily life. "I try to keep an eye open, and I realize I haven't closed my eyes in a long time" - This line expresses a struggle to remain aware and conscious in a world consumed by distractions and artificial stimuli. It suggests a lack of rest or respite, highlighting the constant state of alertness or hyperactivity. Overall, these lines convey a critique of a modern, technology-driven society that fosters detachment, artificiality, and a disconnection from authentic human experiences. It encourages reflection on the impact of media consumption, the loss of genuine connection, and the need to maintain awareness amidst the chaos and pressures of daily life.
Something about this sound...the struggling against a downward pull, the utter refusal of a mortal to give into the void despite the cries of the dying in the depths of the pit. An upward push, a most violent struggle up hill, pulling allies-alike and pushing enemies out of the way on the ascent to the top. Pain turned to rage, rage turned to energy, energy with which to drive out the mongrel demons of the psyche with the hell fire that can be the indomitable human spirit if you allow it. An image: man with chains tied to him, pulling downward are the souls of the weak and unworthy of glory. In front of him a boulder, the visceral juxtapose of glory and struggle towards legacy. lightning and thunder abound, as he nears the top. Zeus himself angered at the still stubborn refusal to give in. Onward forever pushing, against all odds, a quote arises of a wise sage: "For you may fetter my leg, but my will? Not even Zeus himself can stop!" The fire may dim, but a spark may set a forest ablaze.
My pulse stopped for 3 seconds somewhere between beginning to end! What happened was my heartbeat got knocked the fuck out! One of the most heartpounsing songs in the world to mankind...gojira killz it!
Generally death metal is way too much for me, so how the hell Gojira is one of my favored bands? The vocals are out of this world, never heard any better growling. Wow.
Did i just get dosed by accident or did the matrix fuck up? Because i swear i remember the lyrics to this song being different.... like some of them are still the same but a lot seem different from when i first heard this song.
Gojira:
For when you cant decide if you want to listen to meshuggah or tool

Heard them live at a festival once, they opened with that song. It went hard on that rainning night.

I think this song has been heavily influenced by Sepultura and Max Cavalera.

Why is the outro cut short? You literally took away a chunk of the song smh
