I always say, if it slips, add another hitch, itll lock. Different lines may require more, some just slip. Genrally, most do the two, one, two style. But being aware is key, pnce you get the hang, youll know by feeling amd sound when the knot locks well.
Mahalo Kaleo for sharing the skill. Our ohana is starting a tradition of lawaiʻa wahine and going be starting with sewing our own net. Itʻs sad that certain Hawaiians will refuse to share the ʻike of net sewing with anyone but they ohana; respect to that, but there are Hawaiians that donʻt have the skill passed down and like learn. We are Hawaiians and can do. Mahalo nui Kaleo, your vid is the clearest instructions.🙏🙏🙏
Mahalo. Good to hear your family is taking part in it, we need more people to at least learn. I guess some feel they need to keep their teachings secret, to each their own, I dont know their reasons so I wont judge. I myself am glad a couple people have helped me learn, along with book, and some youtube videos. I always noticed most videps arent too clear, so I wanted to make sure my videos were as clear as could, and if I can illustrate on the iPad I will. Keep up the good work!
I need to look for some of these tools to start my net too. Mahalo Kaleo for being the the person to teach us how to look outside the box and just try. Also keeping the culture alive and keep fishing because it is fun and you will be able to feed the family with REAL food. Now if you can include cooking meals into your videos? 😊👍🤙🏽
Y does my knot slip? I go around 2 then one lock it down here the click and all then go around 2 again and when I take it off my gauge and tug on it it still slips
If you do the half hitch and it accidentally slips below the top eye all you need to do is give your line coming from the needle a quick jerk upwards it will go back in place.
Yup that works too! What I was trying to say is if someone is doing the style without the single then double & the knot slips under the V all you have to do is give the line coming from the needle a quick tug upwards & the knot will slip back up into place. 🤙🏽
K I can appreciate this.i have been misled in most videos, this one not only corrects the misinformation, but explains why.so well done

This is a great video. Many thanks. Showing on the bigger rope is very helpful.

Just do a single, then double again. Which is the common knot anyway. Double, single, double.
