- Is Showmax worth it? This is my honest Kenyan review. What is Showmax? Showmax is a new streaming service that grants its customers access to thousands of the best series, movies, kid shows, and documentaries. You can stream from all your devices including smartphone, tablet laptop or TV. #showmax
I got curious about Showmax after seeing their numerous ads on Instagram and actually bought a subscription as I wanted to catch up with Big Brother Naija. Where is showmax available? The service is Africa's answer to Netflix and is available in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, North America, and Canada. It's also available in 36 countries in Africa ie Kenya, South Africa, Uganda, Cameroon, Benin, Botswana, Burundi, Eritrea, Congo, Ethiopia, Lesotho, etc. Showmax vs Netflix? It is readily available in most of Africa and has local shows in your country as opposed to Netflix which doesn't. DStv subscribers can get it for free in their premium membership packages. How much does showmax cost per month? Online it's relatively affordable at around 250 KES or $2.4.

I have used showmax for a while now and I can say it's worth it.They have variety of content,the best of HBO shows and their customer service is soo dope. It's underrated though.But they need to work on their upload timing...
I was actually surprised in the vast catalog they have, yeah they need to update their titles more often.
I'm enjoying them but HBO is not for everyone especially in this our African culture. They need to add more CBS and ABC shows which they have but they either put ended shows or a series behind which beats the point for us young people who have Netflix and also pirate our favorite shows latest episodes everyday
Scandal is called the fixer because before it, there was(could still be running) a long-running show on eTv from South Africa that is called Scandal so it was a naming conflict that needed to be resolved.
Oh good to know, they should have changed the SA show though 😂😂

Watching this after paying for the whole year subscription 😅🤣😅 oh well... Bora uhai. I like Netflix but to be honest... I'm almost always glued to showmax because of the local series. I'm a big fan of some of our local shows and well.... I never watch TV unless there's a national or international crisis that's being aired live.... So I catch up on the local series there. I love Showmax because of simply that... I won't lie 😂😂😂. So let me wait for the video to end nisikie ubaya wa showmax.... 😁
Edit: Well... I'm seeing more pros than cons hehe. And now they have some sports channels that I have never clicked on.
I only use it for local channels, and they’ve gotten so good. I don’t understand why the local channels don’t buy them and air them. Just Nigerian and soap operas nkt
Scandal was renamed The Fixer in S.A because there was an already existing local show called Scandal in S.A at the time it was supposed to air. Showmax being South African they retained it as The Fixer on their platform....
Yeah makes sense, but we are not all from SA.
When the year began, I was a Showmax subscriber for 3 months, and honestly, I was sorta disappointed.
I love Sci-Fi and action series and movies, and most weren't available.
If it cannot provide something for any given interest, then, screw it😂

On my own side being a subscriber on showmax, and stocked up on their 1000 deal for a whole year.I'm dissapointed the shows are left hanging azn season haiishi and they don't upload alafu i like swahili soaps imagine they come up after they are showcased on Maisha Majic so heri kulipa the cable T.V WHAT A DISSAPOINTEMENT ON SHOWMAX!!!
Yeah that is a problem, they upload later that when the actual shows airs and it can get annoying. I hope they fix this problem!

Is it a rights issue? Why the change?
M-Net had to change the name to avoid confusion to the viewers because there was another show in SA called Scandal that was to air at the same time as this Scandal but on a different channel.
Makes sense, but not all of us are from SA. 😂
