- Swami Yogatmananda speaks on the book, Bodhicharyavatara (A Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life)
Born in 1953 in Karnataka state (India), Swami Yogatmananda joined Ramakrishna Order in 1976. He received his monastic vows in 1986. After serving at Ramakrishna Math at Nagpur (Maharashtra state, India) for 20 years, he was posted as the Head of Ramakrishna Mission, Shillong, (Meghalaya state, India). He came to United States in the summer of 2001 as the Minister of the Vedanta Society of Providence.

Pranam Swamiji. I really appreciate a Vedanta scholar teaching Buddhism and speaking with admiration of a Buddhist teacher. I never see such appreciation from scholars of other religions though. This is real spiritualism. 🙏

The term "VEGAN" refers to the philosophy of avoiding undue harm to any animal life, as far as practical, whilst "vegetarian" is merely someone who consumes a plant-based diet.
Therefore, veganism is NOT a diet but a moral or ethical position against animal exploitation of any kind. 🌱

Thank you for the wonderful teaching. I'm a Vedanta guy, but I love the concept of the Bodhisattva. Is there any equivalent in Vedanta or Hinduism to the Bodhisattva? Thank you so much Swami.

There's a really great and recent translation by Khenpo David Karma Choephel. And there's also a good translation by the Padmakara Translation Group, both published by Shambhala Publications :)

@@causeseffects5604 which chapter of Bodhisattva Charya Avatara he taught, he just talk about veda, and Geeta. First chapter is praised of bodisattva. To explain that you have to explain. Where is the explaination of Buddha. To explain Buddha you have to explain Buddhist concept of wisdom and method. To explain wisdom you have to explain Buddhist concept of Shuniyata, or Anatman. He didn't do that because he don't know.
