As someone trying to grow in tech, hearing you talk about what you do and knowing how important it is makes me realize you’re incredibly smart and part of a very special sector people don’t think about enough. 👏👏👏
I had to read the DPAs for a company and low-key i thought it was interesting. I was like 🤔🤔🤔 oh? Spill the tea ☕ 👀👀 What's with Belgium and Spain anyways. Anyways love your content Cece I really respect the way you share!!
@@CeceXie What happens now for the future (ie: next 5years), when places like Harvard are not asking for the LSAT? What would a great application packet include without the LSAT?
I usually read all the privacy policies. Perhaps I'm crazy for doing that, but I usually don't accept the terms and conditions unless I know them. I'm slower at reading updates, but I do read them too. So, when now people cry about their privacy being sold out by apps and websites, it just seems weird to me. Because it ain't new. That's always been mentioned in privacy policy and terms and conditions. I might not agree with the privacy policy and the terms and conditions, but I usually read them and go in, being aware of it and I don't go in blindly. So perhaps, that's why it doesn't bother me. I'm just mostly surprised when people act surprised at the terms and conditions and privacy policies. And attack 1 web page or 1 app for it. Most have same terms, conditions and policies, with a little bit of difference.
I wonder how significant is data privacy law in other countries. Seems like it's not seen as important enough in my country (somewhere from southeast asia). But also even if we have a law on that, seems like it'll be hard to be implemented
it really depends on the country! and you’re right-even in some countries with data privacy laws, implementation and enforcement are an entirely separate issue
I have never subscribed to a UA-cam channel, you are very likely to become my 1st. I am fascinated that YOU are the person writing those privacy notices that we are supposed to read and accept. Is there REALLY an expectation (according to law) that we, regular people, are actually supposed to read and understand ALL of those? I’m a professional engineer with multiple degrees and a couple decades of contractual experience (probably hundreds of hours with lawyers walking me through things). I can barely understand those privacy warnings (hence my apprehension regarding subscriptions to UA-cam channels). Does the law REALLY expect that millions and millions of people with high school education have any idea what those are saying?
More Privacy Law content please!!!

where is the episode about regulatory / compliance practice?
If you want to become a lawyer, what should you do when your younger to secure your position in a good school?
it’s simple, but tough. maximize GPA, so pick a school that’s on a +/- grading system. aim for a 170+ on the LSAT.
good a good GPA in undergrad and do well on the LSAT (assuming that the LSAT still exists by then). that's it, really!
@@CeceXie Thank you for the reply! I'm hoping to get into a good law school so this really helps

I realllly want to be a medical malpractice lawyer so bad
So are the privacy policies I don't read actually secretly scamming me out of sensitive data I would never give up if I knew I what I was doing?
This is basically what I wanna do after law school! Not all BL firms offer these positions though, correct?
correct-only certain firms have robust privacy practices
Do you need a technical background for this practice area?

does the law really expect that? yes, technically, but i agree that it seems like a fiction that we’re all just ignoring
Hello, could you please share what certifications or courses you took if any?
i didn't do any but the classic privacy certification is IAPP's CIPP iapp.org/certify/cipp/
What is average salary for privacy jobs ?
Lawyer compensation depends on the type of employer, rather than the practice area, so it varies wildly.
Do u ever have to go to court?
nope!
Hi is privacy law same as information/FOI law?
not quite! privacy law tends to have a more international lens and deal with data breaches of private companies (and not just government data)
this is so boring you must be making bank
i don’t think it’s boring at all!
