    The 'repair signatures' in the 1700's violin are too cool. It is awesome to see the record of repairs over the decades. Fay's quilts are just right for little Freddy, Cosmin's hammers are just lovely and Mr. Pinches music boxes rock! Spring has sprung and the bees are abuzz 'in the bee-loud glade'. What a fun week - thanks for sharing (I know it's a lot of work!). Stupidicus.

      Thank you, Tim! It is a rare thing to have so many signatures in there! I am just getting the neck installed tonight! Hope you have a wonderful week!

    Mr. Cosmin's hammers are works of art in their own right, and the big one makes an excellent gavel! Your 200th episode idea is great and I hope you get many contributors. I'll certainly be putting my thinking cap on! Good to see you have bees again. God bless you and your week ahead!

    It's fascinating to see all the signatures from previous repairs. I was a bit afraid you would remove them, but it's great you preserved them and even added your own. When you put your label in an instrument you repair, do you sometimes wonder who might be the next person to see it and read your name and when that will be? These violins might very well still be around in another 100 or 200 years.

      Hi Red Wolf! Yes I try to preserve as much as I can and especially signatures. It helps to preserve the history of the instrument. The instrument if cared for, should last for a couple more hundred years before it will need more work! You are right. Thank you for commenting. I am glad you appreciated the signatures! I hope you have a great week!

    Thank you, Cheryl, for another great episode. The tune on the music box and the inside of the box were beautiful. Great to see the new bees! I hope Freddie is warm tonight! One question: when do you decide to seal the inside of an instrument? I noticed you didn't do it on the cello and on other ones you do.

      Perfect timing on your comment. I had just finished up and was ready to quit and in came your great questions. Freddie is thrilled and will probably not want to get up in the morning!!! The cello was a manufactured instrument so I would seal it if the owners wanted it, but it is not necessary.

    love the musical stories, - good to know that the masters have human moments of interaction that are ''interesting'' maker ''al muller'' showed me pictures of violin bows that were stored in a ''vault'' and their ''value'' of deterioration by them NOT BEING PLAYED AND CARED FOR, - so sad for great craftsmen to have their product be in disuse ..

    Do you ever see a violin that is beyond any hope of repair?

    • @Violinsforu2
      @Violinsforu2  6 місяців тому

      That is a great question! I don't believe I have seen one beyond hope. If the instrument is very cheaply made, say from China, it might not be worth it, but if it has good wood and has been played and loved, they are all worth it even if they are in tiny pieces from being smashed in some way. Thank you for asking! I hope you have a wonderful week!

    I am so excited you have new bees! I would love to learn how to raise bees. I am looking forward to hearing the 1700’s violin? What country did it originate from? Paganini’s instrument collection was amazing! I never knew that interesting fact. 😮

      Hi Sally! Yes, I am excited too about the bees, and I have your molds in my kitchen. Every time I look at them, I think of you. The violin may be from Brescia. I am glad you like the anecdotes. I like them too...most of them that is!! Thank you for writing and hope you have a blessed week!
