I love this video! My daughter and I are trading rooms. Yesterday, we had the carpets cleaned, and right now the whole house is in chaos. But, I got a new full-size mattress that works better in the smaller room. So, I followed your advice and went to Walmart to get fluffy pillows and new sheets. I've been trying to figure out how to update my bed and STILL use the quilts my mother made for me. And it worked. I got shams and a bed blanket and the most luxurious feeling sheets. The pillows are perfectly supportive and the sheets felt so soft. Our bedrooms and condo, in general, are still a work in progress but it is SO nice to have that one luxurious place. Thanks for your wonderful videos!

💡 Yessss to the dimmers. Just moved in new semi-custom and had fifteen dims installed. They said that was the most anyone ever had requested. 😂 Even put one in a walk in closet. Maybe I am more sensitive or moody about lighting than most, but like to control my lighting instead of my lighting control me! 😎
You can have minimal items in the room, but choose them for the lux vibe…upholstered headboard instead of wood, replace dresser handles, buy high end looking ceramic, metallic, or acrylic bedside lamps, crisp white sheets, sumptuous velveteen throw, pleated top (not grommet or tab top) lined drapes if doing a window treatment, rug with thick pad if room is not carpeted, art in either modern frame or old world wooden frame with mat from thrift shop, clear cut glass vase from thrift shop, silverplate tray or silk covered box for bedside table.
@@marylut6077 already got the tall upholstery bed and two black nightstands since I love black but nothing else..besides bedding 😭😭…I’m give these tips a try
If you live in CA, be careful about the kind of art you put above your bed and make sure you secure it really well. Anything super heavy/loosely hung won't be earthquake safe.
I was telling someone I met at a party yesterday how I've never hung anything with anchor screws (the white plastic bits). I mostly use thumbtacks for light picture frames or mirrors, long nails hammered in for midweight items, and screws in drywall for load-bearing items. Feeling earthquakes in sac is rare... only one I've EVER noticed was a few years ago, and it just made the floor rumble/vibrate a bit....anyway, all that lazy hanging will of course change once children and heavy furniture come about.
Just found your channel and I AM OBSESSED!!! Wish I had found you sooner. Moving into our new house soon & these videos are coming in handy!! Your awesome! 🤩
Thank you 🙏 for these tips! I just moved to a new apt n I’m beginning to decorate and your suggestions really got me thinking of my space. I got a king size bed in the master, I could or should have gotten a queen but I didn’t want to sacrifice comfort or my ability to move around. I had been sleeping on a blow up mattress for 6 months! I wanted a huge bed… it fits in that space nicely I think . Everyone tried to talk me out of a king bed and altho it looks a lil large in my bedroom I’m glad I got that bed. However, now I’m looking for ways to fix it up and make it look nice and comfortable and I love your suggestion about not putting decorative pillows in the room… and using fluffy pillows instead and I think I’m going to go with that suggestion. I thought about a rug under the bed but I have carpet and my bed is already big should I put a rug under the bed anyway? There is no room for nightstands bc of my closet door so I’m trying to be mindful of the space I have left. Please let me know what you think…
Always love your suggestions Kiva, thank you! I will be adding a rug, scents and artwork. I’ve already upcycled my dresser and night stands with new pulls and have added greenery. It’s becoming a room I definitely want to be in. You’re the best!
Oh NO! I just bought new, decorative pillows for my bed! They fit perfectly, both in size and colour. My bed looks amazing and inviting. I am NOT getting rid of them. 😐 I do have two empty shelves, by the bed, where I put the excess pillows at night. Oh, btw, do ypu know that the word fjädrar, means feathers? 🤔 I do love your channel. 😉
I literally have that exact same stone Vitruvi diffuser pinned on Pinterest 😩😍 It looks so luxe! I feel validated in that choice knowing that you included a pic of it! hahaha

Hey Kiva, I love your videos. I’d love a Scandi one, as It’s the style I love. I was wondering, how do you do Scandi without feeling like you’re in an IKEA showroom? Love to you and your wife.
I am feeling SMUG because I do most of these things. My bedroom is huge and is actually where I spend most of my time because it's so comfortable (and pretty!). Super here for your tip to not use purely decorative pillows -- I had to break myself of the habit a few years ago and have never looked back.
I bought the paper towel holder you showed on previous video. I bought 2 of them. One for kitchen and one for bathroom. I desperately needed one in my shower glass door (exterior, of course). The towel holder in bathroom area is so far from shower area AND there isn’t a wall where I could have put one. I didn’t want to buy a “free-standing” one. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the idea of not making holes in my kitchen cabinets. The towel holders have held up beautifully.
Oh this vid is right on time. Just moved into a new apartment and have been trying to make my bedroom way more interesting. Going to play this video as I go out shopping!!
Hi Kiva, any recommendations on a fluffy duvet insert that does not sleep hot? My insert is rather flat because a lot of fluffy inserts have too much fill power making me hot- thanks!

I can't believe you're telling us to toss our decorative pillows, yet I totally see your point. They do get in the way and you've gotta find a spot for them while you sleep. I love the idea of getting really fluffy pillows that are actually pillows.
This came in a perfect time. I’ve been redecorating our home and our bedroom is next. I have a question though. How do you put on a full length mirror in a small bedroom? I don’t really like the mirrored wardrobe. I’d rather have a free standing mirror. But struggling to find a space x

Wow. Thanks. I needed this video especially the bit about the rug being at the base of the bed & family photos in the bedroom! I like the adjustable bed base idea. Unfortunately I have a restricted bedroom configuration as there are fitted wardrobes on one side, a fireplace with alcoves with chests of drawers either side on another wall so the bed has to be under the sash window (Grr).
Thank you so much for the ditch the decorative pillows from the bed. I have never understood it. They take up half the bed sometimes. We have 2 regular fluffy pillows each. I am not going to take the time to pile decorative pillows on my bed. More importantly I don't want to stop and throw all the pillows on the floor before I go to bed. Then...how clean are they if they go on the floor every night?

Hey KB, can you give examples of artwork for the bedroom with a twin bed please? The wall is 9'3" wide 8' tall and then bed headboard is 3'2" tall. Thank you so much. I feel I am struggling with finding artwork in the bedroom. It's the main bedroom for me. I like soft neutral tones and feng shui. My headboard is grey soft fabric.
I really love your videos 🤩 Can you incorporate a video for us on feng shui. A luxe space but still following feng shui? Also that apple spice candle sounds de~Lish! Can you link the candle for us to try it out too! Thank you so much! Keep Rocking 🤘🏻✨
Art above a bed looks fantastic. I'm terrified of putting art above the bed because my neighborhood is prone to earthquakes and even liquefaction. My style is *not* boho, so no macrame or tapestries for me. Do you have any suggestions for classy art to hang above the bed that lacks sharp corners or hard/shatter-prone materials and that weighs less than 2 pounds? Is an unframed print tacky? I could DIY a cloth frame...
I bought some magnetic poster wall hangs( a top piece and a bottom piece. The brand is called Benjia. They have them in all sorts of colors. I have two sets, one for my daughters room and one for my sons. Really light, but have good magnets so they hold artwork up really well. I got the 40” Walnut ones and they are really nice. Plus if one of my kids rips the picture down it won’t hurt them.
@@amandabricker3059 These look affordable and nice! Though these are still slightly out of my comfort zone, they might be the closest I'll get to art! Thanks for sharing the brand!
Also Wayfair and Walmart have a large wedge type pillow ..good for decoration and if you like to sit up and read in bead or watch tv. They come in different colors and can provide a pop of color in an otherwise neutral room. I saw them on instagram.. affordable two
I'm completely clueless about home decorating and your channel has been so helpful in understanding what works and why. It's almost magical the way you explain things and it all makes great sense.
When purchasing pillows for a king size bed do I buy pillows that are king size? Or can I buy standard size and use six pillows. Can you please help me on what to do. I always enjoy your videos. Thank you for your down to earth sensible way of design. ♥️
Adjustable bases have great health benefits. Improving circulation, reducing acid reflux and snoring and helping reduce possibility of heart attack, stroke. They are AMAZING
I love this information! I bought an adjustable base, but can’t figure out a headboard or platform bed? Do you need a special frame? No one knew at the furniture store or google 😀
First and foremost I love your Channel Kiva! But I was wondering if your floors are already carpeted do you still get rugs for your living room and bedroom?
Great video! Do you have any advice for a bad with a tall headboard? My guest room has a large bed and I worry any artwork above the bed would just look awckward.
Hi There. You always have great tips and tricks; thank you for sharing your expertise. Question; I hate having family photos out or hanging. Is there something wrong with me? We purchased a devise that contains family photos and it run on a loop and I keep it in our office. I somehow feel like im neglecting some sort of design element. Whats your opinion.
Well I’m transitioning from being a student to whats called adult life, my bedroom is cluttered with bookcases, no furniture really fits with each other… I am saving up to do a true makeover and leave the student life behind. Thank you for being so inspiring I am learning a lot through your videos. ❤️
Our bedroom is so tiny. The bed swallows up most of the room, so we don't really have space for plants or a rug. I will try to add some art to the walls, though. Great tips.
👋. I want to use the peel and stick wallpaper from Wayfare as an accent wall in my master bedroom. If I use the pattern of giant peonies, do I still need to hang a picture over my bed? My bed (king) is going to be silver leaf wood trim with dark Grey velvet. Been thinking about canceling this bed. The purple and pink peonies on the wall paper match my dark gray Hotel Collection comfroter with giant peonies (purple, pink, white, and gold). My room is large and I tend to like a black out room while sleeping. The walls are a flat off white. Snowden by Sherman Williams. Do I use the peel and stick with the white background because my bed is dark, same flowers? Or is it okay to use the peel and stick with the dark gray background same color peonies? I want a sofisticated hotel vibe.
I love, love, love your channel ! But I cannot get my rugs to stay in place if they are on top of carpet. How do I do that? I've tried EVERYTHING. Rug pads, rug tape, of all kinds. Help!!
Hi Kiva! Great tips. 💜 I'm in a small studio and changed out my throw pillows on my bed/daybed. 🤭 Do you have specific deco tips for studios, or is it basically the same? I have issues with rugs due to the size and layout. 🤔
@@KivaBrent also would love to see this! I'm hesitant to get a rug because the wood flooring is already a nice warm color, and my queen bed sticks out of the bed nook into the main space! Rugs are difficult 😅
@@hereforthevideoessays6399 Right!? My space's layout has carpet and 'wood' flooring. Rugs don't fit the size and shape. I have a rug in my 'LR' area but it's too small. I need to get another one that's bigger to put underneath. 💁 I want to do so much but just not sure...
I actually had my bed caddy corner in my room. And I had so much space. I have a really pretty Pottery Barn cream full-size bed. My treat to myself eight years ago. And I may put it back like that again. It just worked out the way the room was ..but I have to drag it around myself so I can get kind of wild.. all of my storage stuff for my closing everything is in my closet. I feel I am struggling with finding artwork in the bedroom. It's the main bedroom for me. I like soft neutral tones and feng shui. My headboard is grey soft fabric.
Lovely channel and good advice 😊
I have sooo many deco pillows though 😂
I decorate in mid-century modern/ Scandi, and I don’t own a vase, but I love Kiva’s upbeat info!
I really love your videos 🤩
Can you incorporate a video for us on feng shui. A luxe space but still following feng shui? Also that apple spice candle sounds de~Lish! Can you link the candle for us to try it out too! Thank you so much! Keep Rocking 🤘🏻✨
😂 I love your humor! ‘What’s going on there? Are ya addin’ something else? 😂😂
Hi Kiva, I love, love your content. I can’t stop looking at the black dresser behind you in today’s video. Where’s it from?
Thanks so much Lauren! It’s from Arhaus! Called the Brock dresser. 💕
@DIY with KB thank you!
I am so enjoying your decorating
Loving your inspiration
Any tips on where to get a nice headboard and side tables?
I'm so glad that I listened to this in bed. You make me want to be in bed. A beautiful bed. 😍
Adjustable bases have great health benefits. Improving circulation, reducing acid reflux and snoring and helping reduce possibility of heart attack, stroke. They are AMAZING
Hello. I like the color paint on your wall. Pls what white paint would u recommend?
It’s Super White by Benjamin Moore!
@@KivaBrent thank you!
I have an adjustable bed with a headboard on the wall. I’m looking for a bed frame that glows well with an adjustable bed. Any recommendations?
Love this video. Can you tell me where did you get that stem picks in the black vase behind you? Please and thank you.
plants and art above the bed. Thinking of adding a picture ledge so I can change up the art without drilling new holes into concrete.
Great video...going to work on some of these tips. I always wonder what you are sitting on...the floor, a chair? lol...
Ok please share where you got the greenery and black vase from.
The greenery is from Pottery Barn and the black vase is from Marshall’s!!
I love being an early bird, hello! I’m still figuring out my direction in styling my bedroom. It’s a bit of a mess but so comfy…
Comfy is SO important! What part are you struggling with?
Well I’m transitioning from being a student to whats called adult life, my bedroom is cluttered with bookcases, no furniture really fits with each other… I am saving up to do a true makeover and leave the student life behind. Thank you for being so inspiring I am learning a lot through your videos. ❤️
Kiva...
Our bedroom is so tiny. The bed swallows up most of the room, so we don't really have space for plants or a rug. I will try to add some art to the walls, though. Great tips.
I love your black vessel😍
Thanks so much! I recently found it at Marshalls!
Love you so much!! It’s like you’re reading my mind ❤️
I can definitely make a video on this Jody!!!
@@KivaBrent also would love to see this! I'm hesitant to get a rug because the wood flooring is already a nice warm color, and my queen bed sticks out of the bed nook into the main space! Rugs are difficult 😅
@@KivaBrent Kiva! Thank you so much!!! 💜
We have a runner rug on each side of the bed. I thought about getting one for the end of the bed too but I havent.
They close the doors burgers no dresser in my bedroom..
Yes the Phillips hue light 💡
I like the editing on this video
Yay! Can't wait to see! 😁💜👏👏
Thanks, Jody!
We luv you chica!! Very creative
💕💕💕
Love these tips! Can you share a link for the 600$ adjustable bed you mentioned fromAmazon?! Thanks!!
Yes! It’s also in my Amazon storefront under Shop my Home! 💕
@@KivaBrent Thank you! 🥰
New sub here. Love your channel! I've been binging your videos. I'm helping my mom redo our family home that I grew up in. It's incredibly dated. Love your thoughts!
