A knife-wielding diver with a superhero voice and his fish friends slowly advance on a Transylvanian Barracuda and a fish smoking a cigarette.
Best. Kids' show. Ever.
Yeah, I watched it, as a kid. Those were the times. Everyone was smoking, (underwater fish, parents with kids in closed spaces, (like cars), and even most pregnant mothers.) Truly disgusting, and off-putting, nowadays. But, perfectly acceptable in the 60s.
@@1wldnczyguy funny! Your correct about the 60s. Paul McCartney married Linda Eastman ( photographer), even though he knew she slept with a hundred musicians like jagger, etc etc. He didn’t care, just acceptable back then.
Was still my favourite , even after Stingray , and then thunder birds! My favourite again now
My older brother and I used to watch these (along with things like Fractured Fairy Tales, Rocky & Bullwinkle, etc) on Saturday mornings, still wearing our jammies, in the early 1960s (drinking our milk flavored with Bosco). All was right with the world so far as we were concerned, in those days.
Ah. I'm 63 and I remember Trigger . My favorite henchfish.
I am too and, I used to have nightmares about that mean Barracuda fish. Later in college, I was scuba diving off a dive boat in the keys and saw a school of barracuda and for a moment, I had a flashback.
I forgot how Trigger had a cigarette hanging out of his mouth! I haven’t watched a Diver Dan episode since I was a young kid in the early 60s! The memories are flooding in!
Same!!!🤣🤣🤣
I remember Trigger. Pretty neat trick of his, smoking a cigarette under water!
Oh my God-I watched this as a child-haven't seen this in in decades-thanks for the memories :-) Sea biscuit!!! LOLOLOLOLOL
I completely forgot about this show, I watched it all the time when I was a kid.
I watched this as a kid in the '60's.... now I'm an old man and find this hysterical!
Me too.
When i was young i really thought they were underwater.
what?no water
Of course!
Jimmy Catalina watched this on WGN as part of the Garfield Goose Show in 67. Good times for after school shows.
@@jameretief8327 I've never heard of Garfield Goose. Here in SoCal we had Romper Room, Sheriff John, Hobo Kelly, Soupy Sales and Bozo the Clown.
Great afternoon kid show. I was wrong however on which show I saw it on, it was the morning Ray Rayner Show same channel in Chicago.👍🏻
OMG I totally forgot about this show, holy smokes that brings back memories.
I used to watch this show when I was a little kid in the early 60's. The barracuda always scared the crap out of me.
ME TOO!!!🤣🤣🤣👍🏼
@@liquidlinda2708 Went diving as an adult and a barracuda kept following me. I had anxiety probably from watching this show as a kid🤣
Thank you for your time consuming work enhancing these films. It really means so much to me. Thank you for giving me a bit of my childhood back. I always wanted to stay home from school and stay underwater !!. This show would end when I had to start walking to school. XO
I like how Trigger looks like Bobby Darin and is smoking a cigarette under water.
That's funny. i think he looks like Peter Lorre.
the song is still enchanting after almost fifty years. The next big puppet shindig was "thunderbirds". Things moved more slowly and deliberately then.
As Seen on WGN-TV's Ray Rayner Show
I watched this when I was a little kid and loved Diver Dan!
This is so bad, it's great. Watched this as a kid. Love the fish with a cigarette. Hilarious!
Diver Dan sure made it seem like he was under water. Good props for the 60s as well.
Before going to school in the morning I would watch it!!!
my 3rd heinekin
Yeah me too!,,, anything to just go to school at the last possible second! Usually had to miss the last 5 minutes of the cartoon, so I never knew the outcomes. Maybe that’s why,( as an adult ) I leave a lot of unfinished projects around the house. Childhood affects everything!
I remember this show as a child in the late 50's or early 60s
It was televised around the early 1960's, on a kid's morning program " Ray Rayner & Friends".
Right, BELA LUGOSI as a barracuda. This goes WAAAYY BACK.
My first favourite tv program,I had ! Absolutely loved it !
1965 in nz
Wow! What a different kind of flashback. Thank you, I remember it now.
I had forgotten about his , but now that I see the fish I remember being in such aw watching this great program when I was a kid .
I was 6 in 66. This was after school.
Right? I am 63 and LOVED IT!
Of all the 1960s shows filmed through an aquarium, Diver Dan is my favorite.
My wife thought I was nuts when we were talking with another couple our age one night about tv shows that we saw as kids and I mentioned this show and she said that it never existed well here it is in full black and white just like I remember it !! Thanks for the memories and winning the bet . Might be up in age but still have a love for the old days.
Brave, Courageous _and_ Bold.
For them all to be talking under water, their voices are coming through awfully clear.
Regina Craig That was perfectly normal..
The sidekick fish with the droopy eyes and cigarette was TOO MUCH! 😂
I still remember the theme song some 6+ decades later!
What's wrong with me????
Always saw this show after school !
Wonder if the diving crew wasn't having a giggle and pumping laughing gas along with air down those tubes! This would explain the "talking fish" and his magical "adventures".
So would nitrogen narcosis If Dan were down too deep for too long and still breathing air and not oxygen and helium.
It used to frustrate me so much the mermaid and Dan never met!
Call me Baron stupid. Ok Baron Stupid🤣At 7 yrs old I had a crush on Miss Minerva🤣
This shxt is fxcking hilarious😂😂😂
Why tf is the name "diver dan in the octopus"😂😂
We used to watch this at the neighbour's house, the only tv in the neighbourhood.
Thank you for diver Dan I haven't seen it for fifty years
The fish with the cigarette looks like Peter Lorre. Grownups would have enjoyed that.
I used to watch this when I was 4 or 5 years old. And though all the adults around me smoked, I knew that you couldn't smoke underwater (we lived near the beach). I kept wishing that Dan and Minerva would meet - but it wasn't in the cards for them. Sandy Becker, Sonny Fox, Captain Kangaroo while I sat on our old couch with my dear mother bringing me milk with Bosco and a cheese sandwich. Sigh.
I watched this serial every morning on the Ray Rayner show in Chicago during the mid sixties. I saw the series finale where baron barracuda and his henchman/fish were blown up by their own bomb...
I love trigger fish's cigarette!
Does that mean he'll get gill cancer?
From Trigger's eyes and speech I don't think that's a cigarette.
Trigger looks like an angry Phineas Flynn fish... 😜
naldy21b had to look that up. Spot on!
@@jameretief8327 😆
Trigger is most definitely Robert Mitchum, complete with sleepy eyes and super glued dangling cigarette.😎
Diver Dan was my hero back in the day.
The word "flavor" came out of the end of that cigarette!
This is too Kool! Talking fish smoking cigarettes.
😂😂
I use to watch this as a kid. lol
+DALE thebelldiver Me too. Gee, this is awful. And I loved it as a tyke.
@@all66books Right there with you!
Careful guys, we're all showing our age!
What year did this come out? I remember watching Clutch Cargo and Marina Aquamarina on Garfield Goose (channel 9, Chicago) but I missed the show somehow and I can't believe it it's the best ever!
Dan was such a fool. Couldn't he at least invited the stunning Minerva for a drink?
Nonsense! There are pool bars now.
Maybe an Oxygen Bar.....
Did you ever get that seahorse?
No I don't have the Seahorse in my possession but I have a healthy Spleen to trade for it. 😎
Well I'm sorry but you'll need a lot more than that. Perhaps if you had Sheriff John's badge or Engineer Bill's hat to trade?
Lots of childhood memories
Haven't seen a Baron Barracuda cartoon in 52 years.
I remember when these Diver Dan segments were aired during the "Garfield Goose, and his friends", show on Chicago's WGN-TV, in the afternoons back in the early 1960s!
Dracula barracuda....Dracacuda
LMAO At some points sounds like Bela Lugosi doing 'Dracula', lol Can't believe this mesmerized me as a boy in the '60s. Then again...I CAN! Thin is what we had on WPIX 11, or Channel 5 WNEW in New York City then...
This aired in NYC? For real?
That’s where we watched it, but we lived in Westchester county, with an antenna on the roof!
Me too, watched it in Yonkers!
Watched as a young kid in Brooklyn, always thought the Baracuda sounded like Bela Lugosi!
ITS AN ENEMEY STAN!!!!!
I like how Dan and his friends talk with American accents but the Baron talks with an Eastern European one, lol. Hint hint Yiddish.
"Call me Baron Nincompoop!"..."OK Baron Nincompoop"....
Shell phone! this show predicted the future
Frank Freda ( Diver Dan ) sold the first car mobile telephone in New York City for 20 thousand dollars. My buddies father worked with him.
Are you sure it wasn’t a “shell-o-phone”??
Great jumping grasshoppers ''''
From Diver Dan to The Muppets (Garfield Goose and Friends Only)
"It's getting black, i cant see"😂😂😂
My recollection is that Diver Dan and Minerva never met. They were always just missing each other. Who played Diver Dan and Minerva?
From Trigger's eyes I don't think that's a cigarette.
(The episode where minerva the mermaid was captured by the evil octopus was banned from television for some reason)
dynagravitomagnetic tentacle hentai. Very big in Japan.
Now this show really got my attention especially Baron ahahhaah cool show and that other guy Trigger lolol
Five year old me was terrified of Baron Barracuda.
Memo to Self: SMOKE POT before you watch the next episode.
hes holding a knife lol
So peculiar and fun! Lol
I loved this
I can’t smoke underwater. What a jip!!!
Used to watch this on the Ray Raynor Show!
"That's it Sam, saw that tenticle" omg😂😂😂😂😂 why tf would anyone watch this
peta
And what is up with crazy diver dan? He's got a knife that he's not even wielding against the treacherous octopus
Great Music:
1:55 proto _Star Trek_ incidental music???
4:12 Shostakovich? LOL
ooo THANK YOU THANKYO OOO THANK YOU 🌈
@ 1 time, I thought Diver Dan was the first reality show. I was about 3 or 4.
Matt Mercury..Supercar!
Danny Bonaduce's father wrote these shows!
John Holmstrom WHAT!!!!!
You know, I saw Joseph Bonaduce in the credits and wondered. Fantastic.
I just subscribed & i am a bonified baby boomer 😉🧡
Diver Dan and Supercar
Something fishy about this show...
I never knew about this show, I watched "Stingray" when I was a kid on Sunday morning. Wiki says the fish voices are done by the same guy as Simon Bar Sinister from Underdog. Bella Lugosi's voice was there for sure, but I thought I heard Walter Brenan in there for a while too.
He never uses his knife!
o Thank You THANK YOU
I love the sneaky Putin fish!
How does a fish smoke a cigarette? Underwater?
Is a shellephone better than a smartphone?
When kids shows were made for kids.
:) Kind regards.
The Octopus seems confused
cute. cute old TV show.
I have notes.
GEESH
my first nightmare was about Baron Baracuda...47 years ago???? :)
