Please always show your hands when working like this, so we get a feeling for what You are doing. Aside from that your playing is CLASS AAA+++ bananas crazy supergood. I have had JV-1080, 3080, 5080, XP60, XP30, XP80 so I "needed" this engine again after many years so I got a Fantom S quite recently. It's really truly mindblowing not only as it is a very cool SAMPLER that RETAINS your samples after powering down (if you have saved them properly that is). When I used Ensoniq samplers back in the day that was a dream feature. I use software a lot but I also play and I love hardware so I want to learn my Fantom S down to the core. It's a fantastic fantastic workstation.
I love this! This was my first keyboard workstation synth!!! I bought it brand new at Guitar center!!! I always thought the sampler sounded great! But had a weird workflow for saving. I did not like editing sounds and having to jump between pages to do it, I was a beginner and it was confusing. But very SOLID board, robust! Great sounds and sequencing. Sometimes the timing went weird if I added too many notes. But I kept it for 12-13 years! Created all of my early beats on it.
You can see where the Fantom X has evolved from this, the OS has really been cleaned up in the Fantom X. I wonder should I get the Fantom 0 Series or just upgrade my Fantom X. I could buy 3 more expansions. The Fantom 0 Series price is pretty cheap for a 2022 synth workstation. Its either that or the MPC X which you convinced with workflow alone and the price is the same.
Hi, I bought one but It doesn't boot up every time and i suspect bad capacitors. To be more precise, the screen gets stuck on the LOADING but i can see the beat led blinking and the keyboard plays the first sound normally. Any suggestions ?
The screen design causes or mature burn out. It’s a known issue. But finally good news may be around the corner. Some on has release a screen plug and play replacement. It’s in beta now.
@@park171 thanks, Ben. I appreciate the information. I am waiting on a Fantom XR I bought used in excellent condition from Japan. But I don’t know how many hours of screen on time it has. That’s why I am curious about display replacement for the future.
So there is a Fantom-S locally for $599. I'm looking for something with a sequencer and fusion/funk sounds. How would you compare this with an FA-06, MOXF or even an MC-707? Oh wait, I might need an audio track to start with a guitar idea. 🫤
Fantom is nice, it is missing some of the presets you would find in the X. But still nice. Fantom is better in some ways compared to the FA 06. But depends on you’re personal workflow. Are you based out what state? I’m thinking about selling mine, email me if you would be interested. bycorrell@gmail.com either way i can talk you through the differences.

It competed with the motif Classic, actually came out shortly after. By the time the X released the motif es came and just won over the market.
But both the Fantom S and X were very capable instruments.

That depends on the loop based sequencer. And if you want the expandability the Fantom 0 offers.
Good Ol Chicken Sys!

That the first thing. The power supply as well. Old gear stuff. If your interested in holding on to it I would re cap the unit.
Ben, what are the quality issues with Fantom XR? I know the display can fail, but are there other issues?

If there is a link to producer of beta screen replacement?

Can you try the Roland Fantom s 512mb ram memory originally it only gets 256mb thanks
Interesting. Remeber the Fantom s requires 256 megs of ram for 4 SRX configuration. Kind of limiting.
@@park171 said memory can be found on ebay p.s i have this keyboard
