Thank you very much Russel for the explanation and demonstration, I am going to enjoy working with kärcher spray lance! Hello from France!
Glad it was helpful Peter. hello from the UK! :-)
Thank you Russell for the fantastic review of the product. Its highly appreciated. So helpful for ppl like me to make up their mind. I will go for it and get the lance but will go for Karcher K7 full pack. I think i will have enough power to do plenty of work in garden and rest of the house. Stay healthy and good luck!
Cheers Ivo, I love it when I receive comments like this one. The K7 is something I have been considering for the future. Good luck with your endeavors. Stay safe and healthy too!
Excellent review. Thanks heaps for taking the time to share your feedback and comments about the unit.
Glad I could help! :-)
Just what I was looking for...Thanks very much for the demonstration..
Glad it was helpful! :-)
Thanks for an excellent review and demonstrating in practice. It was very helpful. Hello from Sweden.
Thank you Lois. Hello from the UK! :-)
Very practical and informative video. I think from a safety point of view to be able to work on the ground, is one of the pluses of this extension Lance.
Absolutely Ian! :-)
What an outstanding review. Very informative and useful. Thanks for your time.
Glad it was helpful Ray! :-)
hey Russel, thanks for doing these Karcher videos. It was your initial review of the K4 that convinced me to buy it, and I've had so much fun with it, so thank you. I recently got the 'Karcher MP145' 5-1 lance, and it's really great. Seems like the sort of thing you might like as well.
Looks like a useful addition. :-)
@@RussellPlatten 100% worth the money
Really good review Russell. Thanks.
Glad I could help Tony! :-)
So helpful - thanks so much!! :)
Thank you! Very helpful!
Thank you.I'm sure my wife will be very pleased with her new lance.
:-)
Great review, saves me some money. Thanks
Glad I could help Garth! :-)
Just spotted your video as I've ordered the telescopic lance myself.
Impressive result considering you are using a K4 with cold water feed. I'm sure if you'd have a K7 the picture would be totally different with higher pressure and flowrate. For ultimate result you'd need hot water like the pros. I'll be trying it in connection with my 30 year old HDS750 (not pretty anymore but still does it's job). The lance can take up to 60degC, so you could always connect your K4 to a hot water tap or run a suction hose from your bath tub. Important: K4 can only handle up to 40degC which will still be better than cold water and the suction hose always needs to be bigger bore.
Nice video!
Hot water, now there's a thought! :-)
Thank you sir! You’re a lifesaver!
Glad I could help Dana! :-)
very informative stuff, this
:-)
I want to use such a lance to clean my trespa plating which has a lot of green alga on it. Im a little scared i might damage the coating of the plating though. Any tips?
Very helpful...thanks
Glad it was helpful Gerry! :-)
Hello, I have HD 5/15 C. Can I use a telescopic spray lance? Which adapter should I buy?
I have the karcher k2300, with fixed hose, if I buy the adapter, will I be able to use the TLA 4 lance?
very useful ...and thank you
:-)
Nice drum russ. 👍👌
:-)
I'm glad you stated 3x speed, I thought you'd took a turn.
LOL
Super Video Toll, danke schön. :-)
Thank you! :-)
I do have to wonder if there is a risk of introducing water into the roof space when pressure washing soffits and fascias?
Thank you Russell, very informative video. I have the k7. Do I need the vario joint in order to use the snow foam lance?
No Martin, but the snow foam lance will only point straight ahead. The vario joint allows you to angle the snow foam lance up or down, making it easier to apply the foam around the work area. :-)
that's a grower
good vid 🙌😊
:-)
@@RussellPlatten 😁
Thanks for the video Russell.
Do you know if it's possible to use this at a low pressure?
I want to use it to apply a moss killing biocide at low pressure to my roof without damaging the tiles.
Thanks
If you use the snow foam lance the on the end of the telescopic pole there is no real pressure generated and it certainly is not enough to damage roof tiles. I would use the Vario Joint and the snow foam lance and point it downwards onto the tiles. The only issue is getting the mixture right. :-)
Great video Russell.
Has this been superceded by the TLA 4 lance extension? I can't find the product you reviewed on the karcher website.
Yes, it looks like they have changed the design. :-)
LOOKS GREAT, I have a parkside powerwaser, would I need an adaptor or new hose to use this?
Yes, you would need an adapter. :-)
Thanks Peter. That was excellent. Can you tell me what the reach of the lance is when fully extended - I mean from your left hand, whenyou're in the harness, to tip. Of the 4m length it looks about 3m. Do you lose much pressure when you use the vario joint?
The total length when full extended is 4.17m from the plastic fitting where the hose feeds into the back to the tip of the lance (without any nozzle/fitting/attachment connected). Fully retracted it is 1.2m without anything attached. If you use the foam grip on the lance there is around 0.4m from your hand to the socket for the attachments. So with the supplied nozzle attached the reach from your left hand with the lance extended is around 3.5m. You will notice on my video that my left hand is further up the lance than the foam so it is less than that. As for the pressure with the vario joint, it is not affected in any way as the restriction is all at the attachment. :-)
@@RussellPlatten Thank Russell that was most helpful.
@@wynauburn4145 You are welcome. Merry Christmas Wyn! :-)
Hi Russell can you please share the link to the snap on piece for connecting the hose to the trigger. I looked on UK karcher website but couldn’t find it. Thanks
I have added the link to the video description Andrew. :-)
Little badass
:-)
Hello, where did you buy the system with the bottle?Thank you.
On Amazon, there is a link in the video description. :-)
Very helpful video Russell... Just wondering whether you have tried using the Kärcher lance with the AVA pressure washer(s)...??
An Ava hose will not fit the Kärcher Telescopic lance without an adapter Colin: avastore.co.uk/product/ava-adapter-ava-female-to-male-karcher/
The Kärcher hose has the two flats machined on the brass connector whereas the Ava hose has a round connector with no flats. It is a little confusing, because Kärcher accessories fit the Ava guns, but Kärcher guns (and lance) will not fit the Ava hose. :-)
Hi Russell... Thanks for your reply... I appreciate the subtle differences of the two systems but wondering whether you had tried with an adapter.
I purchased a couple of new Kärcher brushes recently and they wouldn't fit the AVA gun!! Upon closer inspection, I found that once the security cowl was unscrewed from the Kärcher brush then the brush fitted perfectly. I then tried a 2nd new, but different, brush from Kärcher and that wouldn't fit either until the security cowl was removed. I have advised AVA but need to file-down the security cowls of the Kärcher accessories, and possibly the AVA gun, in order for them to fit properly.
The front end of the AVA gun has a strange lip with two cut-out sections so perhaps this can be filed down too..?? It may also be possible to lift the two areas of the AVA security cowl at the end of the gun and remove. Whichever way it's viewed, the security cowls are preventing the Kärcher accessories from being fitted and this also applies to the lances supplied with the new K-brushes.
Due to the security cowls of both systems, certain accessories will still not fit, even with the adapters, unless the security cowling is modified...there is insufficient clearance with the cowls of both systems fully unscrewed.
What's the angled attachment like for cleaning leaves out of the gutter?
Not sure Neil, I suspect it would do a very good job, but it would also be a bit messy. :-)
Hey Russel, what do you think can I start my business for cleaning facades and pattios and stuff with high pressure washers? What do you think is it going to be profitable?
Most informative review on UA-cam of this product. Good effort! ...Shame you live in a bungalow, i was wondering if it would reach the guttering of a house :) Ps Hello from Southampton!
Not sure about your guttering Martin. Hello from E Sussex! :-)
So I brought one of these and tried it out yesterday. Fully extended it easily reaches the guttering of out house. I actually had really good results by using the dirt blaster Lance from my K4 with some plug and play detergent. The dirt blaster gave me extra reach and was far more aggressive with the years of dirt on the guttering than the standard jet. Very pleased with the results.
@@MartinBradbury Brilliant! I am glad it worked out for you Martin! :-)
Have you attempted to use the patio cleaner attachment on this?
I haven't Ben. It may put too much strain on the lance if it is extended with all the weight. :-)
Hi! Can I connect this lance to other pressure washer or it is just for karcher?
You can usually buy an adapter to use Karcher attachments with other pressure wahers David. :-)
I have the k4 too, I was thinking about buying this to clean my gutters etc, not sure if it will do for a 2 story house and from your video it doesnt appear to be powerful enough to clean off though stains
I like it, but it will not remove tough stains using the high pressure jet alone. I have a Karcher rotary brush attachment and this can be used to remove stubborn stains, but it is hard work. I love the lance for spraying detergent quickly and covering large areas. I spray the area with detergent using the lance, then brush it with several different brushes depending on where it is. I have a car cleaning brush which I modified to fit on an extension pole that I use for my swimming pool for the high points. I use step ladders and a hand brushes for the lower areas. I then rinse it off using the lance. I am happy with the results. :-)
Think about what a stain is, then you will see why water alone will never shift it. This isn't Karcher's fault, that's just science. You need chemicals and HEAT to break them down. This is where reviewers often blame a product for not being able to do something it could never do nor claims to do.
Pressure washers cannot remove stains from anything. A stain is a chemical reaction, and like the green on his gable ends, it got baked on, and stained it, yet he is still disappointed that an extension lance wasn't able to undo this? I would have had a bottle of fungicidal moss cleaner in a foam cannon on the end of that gun, with safety goggles on, and left it to soak in.
Bit unfair to blame the lance for not being able to remove stains from PVC cladding, especially when using a K4 and with cold water.
Could you not attach several of the karcher lances the ones that are used for the t racers. They will be slightly heavy. Does the unit you have sway about once it goes maximum.
Yes, that would work. It does not seem to sway too much on full extension, but there is some sway. :-)
@@RussellPlatten this lance extensions would not be as practical as the telescopic lance as it’s more ridgid and heavier I would think
Yes, the lance is probably the better choice. :-)
Great video, reckon this would be overkill to clean top floor Upvc windows/frames?
It depends on how often you want to clean them. :-)
@@RussellPlatten just want to save money paying the window cleaner every month hah. I've taken the punt and bought the lance off Amazon for 90 quid.
I certainly did find the review useful. It was excellent, detailed and honest. I would expect nothing less from a Yorkshire man. However, I was really struggling to decide where the accent was from. Initially I thought your accent could well have been from South Yorkshire, even Sheffield, but then I heard the way you said "work" and "nine" and they sounded like a very slight Hull accent.
Anyway, something I do want to know is how did it perform on your actual windows. I saw you soap them down but not clean the soap off. Does it leave faint limescale marks where droplets dry?
It is a Hull accent. I never really used if for the windows, but I reckon you would get the marks if you did not dry them afterwards and lived in an area with hard water. :-)
Whare can you buy that lance
Can the Karcher Soft Pressure Washer Brush be used with this to clean windows. My local window cleaners are starting to get on the poor quality side. So thinking of ways to do them myself.
Yes Edward, it will accept karcher accessories. :-)
@@RussellPlattenThanks for the information and keep up with the excellent videos. So would you say it's safe to use on windows with the Karcher K7.
I don't see why not Edward. So long as you do not use high pressure on wood etc.. :-)
Do you know if you can clean out the guttering?
Yes it will work with the adjustable attachment I mention in the video at 3:36, but it will make a mess! :-)
This was a great video but wish I could have seen how you connect the foam spray bottle
Look at 4:21 on this video ua-cam.com/video/GrXdb-mPWKU/v-deo.html it shows how attachments are connected on the lance Margaret. :-)
I want it to clean my house roof slates. Would it be any good?
If the reach is long enough for your needs, it will be fine. :-)
Can you use this to clear your gutters?
I reckon you could Steven. You would need the Vario joint to point the jet at the best angle and it would probably be a little messy, but cleaning up afterwards would also be easy with the lance. :-)
Hallo,...tell me please, how much did you payed for lance?!,...or its included in the price of k7 premium?!
Thank you!
I paid £90 in 2020. It is not included with the K7. :-)
SUPERB Video Russell. Could a lady use this with not too much trouble do you think? I'm an older gal, but I'm pretty fit and I love using my Karcher K5. I go mad with it in the warmer months!! FABULOUS house Russell....I am SO jealous!! Lol.
I reckon you would have no trouble using the lance Teddy. It is pretty light and does not require much effort. Thank you, we are very lucky to live here!! :-)
Does the lance come assembled
No Ian. ua-cam.com/video/GrXdb-mPWKU/v-deo.html :-)
Was looking at getting this debate now
I have finished cleaning the outside of my house and I am happy with the lance. I had to use a brush on a pole for the gable ends and a hand brush for the fascias, soffits and gutters, but it saved me a lot of time applying detergent, and rinsing off. It reduced the ladder work considerably and meant that I could reach those hard to reach areas. My house is now looking great. It did not live up to my expectations though, I was hoping it would clean everything without any other intervention, probably a bit unrealistic. Knowing what I know now, I would still buy it. It is a lot of money though! :-)
@@RussellPlatten just want it to clean upstairs windows and consverty roof and the fancy capping on top gets a bit green and its hard to reach this looks ideal we see what happens onces lock down over with thanks for getting back Russell stay safe buddy
@@KnugenMooMoo Stay safe too! :-)
Fantastic advice. You saved me ages of faffing. Lovely house by the way.
Thank you. Glad I could help! :-)
Could you do your roof tiles?
In theory yes, but it would not be ideal. The jet would be directed up the roof and this is not a good way to clean it. it could lead to water ingress. I did think about using two vario joints and pointing the jet back wards, but that is a project for another day. I reckon you would need a scaffold tower to do it safely. :-)
@@RussellPlatten Was thinking the same. I have concrete tiles with ventilated space under them. So intruding water just should dry up except if you unfortunate have a hidden leak under.. Must think more about it..
@@yogajedi3337 It certainly needs some thought as there are several issues that need resolving! :-)
Put the 90deg elbow in between the end of the pipe and the nozzle to point the jet straight at the tiles instead of upwards and you will be fine. Don't get any closer than 30cm from the tiles and use their stone cleaner solution first from a foam gun and your roof tiles will come up nice. You can also apply fungicidal cleaner from their foam gun too.
When your doing stuff like that ..Use the pressure washer lance to soak the area being cleaned... then have a seperate telescopic lance ( harris pole from B & Q ) with a soft car brush ( with an angle adfaptor also _check out window cleaners vids Water fed pole to understand what i mean ) ... dunk car brush in bucket of diluted detergent of your choice.. use brush to agitate and then use the telescopic lance to rinse of ... thats the best way to clean any exterior washable surface .. The telescopic lance is a great rinsing tool ..
I will have a look at the Harris pole John. :-)
@@RussellPlatten I am cleaner by profession Russ.. that telescopic lance combined with a telescopic brush is a super combination ( Just like when they clean the big Lorries HGV etc to reach up )There is videos i think on youtube or instructions online to convert the harris pole to take a brush with angle adaptor ( flexible brush head )
@@fensterputzernuernberg They di not appear to sell it anymore John. The only telescopic pole was a paint roller extension! :-)
@@RussellPlatten Here is a video on it Russ.. ua-cam.com/video/IWqZpywcDT0/v-deo.html
@@RussellPlatten Anything like that should do it for your home Russ .. Plenty of telescopic poles to be had ..
5:00 You've had too many cappuccinos I think :D I wonder if a very mild mixture of sodium hypochlorite may make a difference as a detergent especially if its a fungus contamination. There's no saying what it would do to the lance or the fascia though.
Bleach would certainly sort out the algae, but I would not want to use it on the PVC. Great to hear from you Paul. I hope you and yours are OK up there! :-)
This is the vario joint
Yes. :-)
Could do with a taller house to demonstrate
I Know, unfortunately I haven't got one! :-)
4 meters is rather short, or well... too short for my application. I need something closer to 10 meters. Because the family house is 2 floors with attic and I need to clean the windows on the second floor, but each floor has a height of 3 meters. So that's 6 meters plus some meters because you aren't standing straight under the window, so pythagoras is at play here. 😔
That is a very long lance! :-)
Do you actually think anyone gives a crap?
@Equinoxious342 Just as much as your mom gave a crap about you given your attitude, so none at all except on a rare occasion.
Great video however I think the high pressure lance could easily do a lot of damage so people beware !!
Good advice Matt! :-)
