There were copper mines in the Sinai. Whether that was the source for Giza tools I don't know. I would surmise that someone has done geologic tracing of the tools though, if you have access to scholarly libraries

The Ancestral Cascades started erupting, what, 44 millions years ago, or thereabouts? I think it's almost certain there were people in the Portland Basin, or passing through it at least from time to time, immediately prior to the Missoula floods (seeing as we have very solid evidence of humans in New Mexico 21kya, and people in Eastern Oregon ~18kya). Someone, hopefully up in the hills, watched those horrible waters come crashing into the basin. That must have been quite a sight.
