Yes I know LIPO batteries exist. Yes, rewiring is a good idea too if you are up for it. Yes I will need to look into a rechargeable solution if I keep going with this. Yes, IMRs or higher voltage rechargeable batteries could let you skip a new tray all together, but I wanted to make this use standard batteries. This is just meant to be a fun, low effort mod to make meh Nerf blasters a little better. Probably more for beginners or those who want to mod a few blasters fast, and are playing with kids and don't really want to go past 100 FPS or get into alternative batteries :)
i think you are right about 100 fps being a magic number. It is enough power to feel like you are not being babied and gives you a 50' engagement range. 130 to 200 is fun when everybody is bringing their own gear. When you are supplying the party 100 fps is safe enough to give out to kids still.
For sure! And these will 100% get used at kids parties still alongside Spectrums and Rival. I just never felt good enough about stock Nerf to even bring them out at a party or event. I’m harsh on the stock flywheelers haha.
I’m with you! 9v mods is the way to go to use with your kids. Just enough power to make it more fun. And not too much hassle so it’s easy to upgrade a bunch of old Nerf blasters.
Just stopping by to let you know i did a 9.6v mod to my mastodon this evening. It was incredibly easy and it is WAY better now. I was inspired to do it after following your rapid strike mod video. Thanks for introducing me to a cool new hobby.
Thanks for the video! It made me dare to mod my sons ultra one. Bought the same battery tray and dremeled the existing tray. When you leave the sides it has enough stability to hold the new tray when you dremel the centre. Soldered the wires to the existing planes and didn’t even have to open the nerf! Hot glued the old and new tray together and good to go. Pity I can’t post a picture in the comments. But again thanks for your helpful guide!
I am pumped to hear this! And that you found a better way! That’s modding!!!! Congrats!!!! It’s a cool feeling to mod a blaster and make it better! Thanks for watching and subscribing!
I just dropped 2, 9V batteries in parallel into the existing tray. 9Vs are roughly same size as C so they fit right in. Soldered the connectors to the existing metal plates, done in a couple minutes and still get 9V blaster.
Why take it apart when you could have just soldering the wires of your 9v to the tabs in the original tray and when you put it back in it will touch the springs to complete the circuit😮😊
Could have done something like that for sure, I almost always find I need to do some demolition to make room for either a battery tray or rechargeable, so If I’m soldering anyway I throw on an XT30 (just in case I want to use some other battery)
Thank you for the inspiration and advice! I’ve really enjoyed all of the mods I’ve been doing lately thanks to your ultra one guide! Wanted to make sure you were properly shouted out!
It’s a ton of fun now. Not perfect, I wish the drum was swappable, and accuracy is still not 100%, but it’s still so much more fun! Accustrike ultra helps a lot.
When I brought out my Dart Zone Thunderbolt, my kids didn’t want to use their Nerf Demolishers and Regulators anymore. So this mod will get them excited about getting 100 FPS from their old Nerf blasters.
So that one is already 9v, so you would want to rewire for lipo probably; remove all locks etc. it wouldn’t be insanely different from a stryfe or Rayven rewire, I have a guide for the Rayven one.
sweet video! I'm def gonna try this on my stock ultra one as well! Hey, how did you get the battery tray not to rattle around in the grip since you dremeled it down? Thanks!
A lot of times if it’s just for me, I’ll stuff an old worn out dart in beside the tray haha. If im trying to be more professional I’ll all some plastic to make it a tight fit.
Mod complete & dart trick worked to kill dead space! That was about as quick & cheap as you said and now the "One" shoots hard enough to be fun. I would never have bought this blaster based on the reviews but I got it for super-cheap as part of a garage sale lot. With (old) ultra darts it consistently shoots like 5 degrees to the right though 😂 - I ordered some accu-fake ultras did those shoot any better for ya?
@@jgcayton awesome! Ha, no, it shoots that way for me too. You’d probably have to shim the flywheel cage, it must be crooked - I just adjust my aim haha
Prefer upgrading to 18650 for both increased power and easy recharging. I recently got given this nerf gun and it's about to be modded, even though the stock gun is actually pretty good in mine, 95 fps stock, so I was actually impressed
I'm so excited for this!!! So cool!!! I absolutely have to do this to my Hyperfire!!! Also, out of curiosity, what would happen if you took it up to 12v 🤔
Poop. I should have covered this. Unless you rewire, that’s getting into the danger zone. Plus there are some pieces built in to limit things unless you remove them. Tried with my Hyperfire and 12v was the same. If I rewired, different story. I didn’t try with the ultra one I admit; I was so excited by the 9v results ha. I also wanted the tray to fit in it :)
@@maritimefoam Oh ok. Good to know. Glad I didn't just go for it 🤣😂🤣 Can't wait for payday! I gotta do this. I was so underwhelmed with the Hyperfire's performance, same as you really. Maybe someday Nerf will hop on the 9v bus 😂😁🔫
wonder if you can get a little more kick with coolook rechargeable batteries in this mod. great quick and effective mod. 130 is pretty serious power for double a's
Honestly with coolooks I could skip the new tray and probably use three of those and a dummy battery, ha, yar… I think I talked about this in the UA-cam short I did and not in this one. I really wanted to make this something that I would feel perfectly fine handing to a kid or even giving it to them, without any special batteries or warnings. :)
The Dart Zone Pro was an eye opener for me as well, with how well it works on 8 AA! I actually just use AA when I travel with it a lot of the time or for plinking.
Well, this simple mod got to around 130. Higher than that you need to do what I did, but change all the writing, and wire it with an XT60 connector and use maybe a 2S lipo. You could leave motors and wheels stock I think.
Yeah, I just have to many people using Blasters that I’m paranoid to introduce anything that can be confused for a regular AA. I’d rather just change the connection. :)

Not sure if you're aware or have Target in Canada but their dart zone stuff is super cheap right now. A lot of their nerf is as well!
@@johnshepherd6925 no target here but I’ll be there in a few days :)

I agree with 100FPS being a lot of fun. Not too hard to hurt, but enough power to get some decent range. Would love to see more mod guides!
Definitely lots more to come! I have UA-cam shorts on the Fortnite and Hyperfire 9v mods too!

Comments like this are the BEST. Thanks for taking the time to let me know! I’ve been meaning to mod a mastodon forever! Good choice!!!!
Can it take C2 (3v) batteries?
Yeah, I don’t tend to use those but you could. You’d need to use a dummy probably

100% agreed 100-120 fps is a decent speed lol keep the mods coming plz
I’m going to try! I love doing them! :)
Nice, I made it and it scared the sh*t out of my friends. 😅

As a newcomer that just scored an ultra 1 jn a lot sale this looks really good to me
Heck yeah! It makes the ultra one useable haha
Interesting that 9v on the Ultra got you 130 FPS, but 9v on your Hyperfire only got you around 100 FPS. What do you think accounts for the difference?
Yeah, maybe the stiffness of the dart? So it had a higher crush. Could be that the chrono was off but it’s seems consistent.

Wow, mine definitely didn’t get that high on stock 6v.
Yeah, this was an early one, mostly I do 9.6v rechargeable now if I’m not doing LIPO :)
Dude you are awesome
Let me know if you try it!
Hello i know this video is a year but cant i just put the positive wire and negative wire on the battery pack then slot in a 2s battery?

Hi, what is the maximum voltage limit here to make the blaster more powerfull ?
Like I say in the video (I think, it’s been awhile) to go higher you need a rewire and new switches

How to aim
You need 3 good coolooks and a dummy from Luke at Out Of Darts then you dont need to do anything.
