- CCTV footage supplied to Eyewitness News shows the moment a building collapsed in George, in the Western Cape on 6 May 2024. According to a notice issued by the George Municipality, the collapse 'involves multiple patients'.
No adequate support during construction, especially with multiple floors as the concrete doesn't reach full strength after pouring
Interview with on site worker and servivor said he had heard a loud noise before the collapse. it goes with the "flash." They will have to investigate properly
Thoughts and prayers with all involved. Especially those who have lost loved ones. May the rescue efforts bring as many, if not all, survivors out safely.

This can only be cause props under floors have been removed before proper curing times. Bottom floor carry all ither pourded floors, regulation is 21 days, but that means all propps stay until all top floors cure.

Costs cutting, cheap labour, bypassing approval steps, and bought liecences could result in this. Crime is endemic in this country

lousy cheap methods, taking short cuts. Now they have real problems and millions lost
They must properly investigate this, its odd that it collapses straight down like this, as if its a professionally demolished building........goodness so many lives.......

Is no safety first😮.... This has to be ground breaking. Therefore there was shoddy work done on foundation because of laying of inferior cement and structures...And also to cut corners. No one will know. Everything goes wrong in South Africa. Because of blatant corrupt practices...😮🤕
According to the Daily Maverick: "George mayor Leon van Wyk initially said he did not know the developers, engineers and contractors responsible for the site, despite his office being opposite where the tragic incident happened. “Unfortunately, I don’t know those names at this stage,” he told a Daily Maverick reporter. “I think we need to establish [the names] from the Department of Labour. I personally do not know.” Really? Van Wyk eventually revealed that the developer was a company called NT Neotrend Group and the name of the development, Ice Projects. They submitted plans to his office on 22 December 2022 which were approved on July 2023. Theuns Kruger is the director of Liatel Developments, the company behind the project.

@@musamsane7311 nope but I work on over a 100 different construction sites a year for over 7 years now and nothing even close to this has happened...this is one building In over thousands that gets build across the country everyday...it's not like this is happening everyday
...this a tragic happening for reasons we don't yet know...So let's have emphaty for our fellow human beings and Africans suffering in this time and leave the politics for another day🙏
@@spoilbrattprudaksinz1820 I didn't say anything untowards about this tragedy except to highlight that this kind of accidents are frequent in Nigeria. In fact there are two incidents I know recorded in this country. This one in the WC and the collapse of a shopping center in Tongaat, KZN. I don't think I have to go to America for my sincere comment🤷🏾♂️
