I feel the three it had the best chance at were AOTY, Best ED, and best VA, the former of which kinda got ruined by its ending and the second being a fair defeat.
That said, it definitely deserved best Voice Acting. I don't know quite for who, but the way the language barrier was utilized was genius. Laurent spoke english like a Frenchman, Makoto's entire joke is that his accent is terrible and it is, and Cynthia, the only character who grew up speaking English, is completely fluent. I've never seen such thought put into language like that in an anime.

While I do agree it was too early at the time, from the future, I'd say it cleanly deserved the win. It did everything either good or great, it's one of the few adaptations where manga readers don't say "just read the manga" and accept the idea of waiting for the next season, and it caused a massive splash in the animation community through it's ED alone.

@@Im_Jaeger i mean, i like the show. But i won't hate every other anime if someone doesn't say "aot best anime of all time" like a lot of those guys are doing. I've seen people saying that zoro is not able to kill a titan, i get it, you like aot, but st least check your facts before hating other shows. Also sorry for any mistakes, english is not my first language.

Would have loved to see at least one W for Dorohedoro, was an absofuckinlute amazingly insane Anime with great characters and rocking opening.
Also Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru / OreGairu is too underated.....
I'm so surprised and upset the dorohedoro opening didn't get nominated. The opening itself is a great experience

The fact that they had barely any recognition for Japan Sinks breaks my heart. Into even tinier pieces. It still hasn't mended after the show shattered it when I watched it.
The jujutsu kaisen i can see it if they keep going in the animation and hit the way the manga right now it'll be an amazing series
