This DIY outdoor dining table with built-in cooler was made from giant cedar 6x6 beams during my trip to Joshua Tree, CA. The material for this build is definitely not on the cheap side, but you could substitute pine 4x4’s for a similar look and a really cool wood dining table. Like I mentioned in how to build instructions, I would definitely recommend drilling smaller holes to join tabletop together. I think ⅞” holes and a ¾” all thread would be a great combination for a really stout outdoor table as long as you put the washers in to allow for drainage. If you wanted a seamless top you could remove the washers and cut or joint off the rounded edges for a smooth beefy top.

are you a mechanical engineer? cause I am and I'm thinking twice if carpentry is a good business
The last video that popped up on my feed was Jimmy DiResta building a huge table,a lot like this one! Both great jobs!!!
Nice to see you work with normal diy tools. Not the fancy stuff . Thanks
Suggestion: a heavy duty caster wheel under each leg.
Next time pick up a Milwaukee Shockwave linemen’s impact auger drill bit. 18inches long. Diameter sizes include; 9/16, 11/16, and 13/16. Home Depot sells them. It is what pretty much all linemen use to drill out utility poles! Great job as usual...
thanks, Mike!
When cutting beam that are larger than your saw allows to cut, I found that cutting in 3 passes vs 2 passes is more reliable in giving you a flat surface. Instead of rotating the beam to the opposing side, rotate 90 degrees and follow your half cut from your initial cut. The rotate another 90 degrees and finish the cut. It should be quite flush. Due note that the beam needs to be supported under the beam as you want to avoid pinching from when you get close to finishing the cut on the end of the second cut and all of the third cut.
What a beast!!! You killed it 🤙🏻🤙🏻
I'm just bummed I somehow had no footage of you helping me out or dubbing it a certified banger 😂😂
That is just badass. There's all these velociraptor level table videos I've been watching...effin' great ones...then this T-Rex level vid pops up.
Brother, that's not a table, that's a home foundation
Outstanding. Manly man table!!!! Seriously, the bulk of it is 100% needed to scale correctly with the industrial look and size of the container home. Absolutely PERFECT choice. Well done.
thank you! I really love how it tied together on site
I dont have any drill press or nearby. I find this so useful in my very raw wood working activities. Thanks for this very relevant video.
The very last part of the video is definitely the best! You know, I’m talking about the cold bottles!👍🏻👏🏻
Two words: hole hawg. Turns slow, powerful. Safe. Add a 12” auger bit. Golden!
Wish I'd have known!
Amazing project once again. I liked it when you said "I can sleep better at night" lol Exactly I said the same thing to my friend when I was working on my project and he gave me a look as if I m the biggest OCD.
you know what I mean!
@@Fixthisbuildthat Yes I do know what you mean.
can't wait to see your future projects, good luck and thanks a lot for your video on drawer pulls just made few for one of my project and they look awesome. thanks to you once again
- Beautiful piece that’s sure to become an heirloom for generations.
When you need your table to survive a nuclear bomb. What a build!
Favorite joke in the video....when you mention that Ben could go and shore up the build with more angle iron. Totally see that happening.. he'll do that right after figuring out how to work the LEDs on the ping pong table 🤣🤣
😂😂😂
OOOOO wee! THis design is exactly what I like thank you! God bless
I am 53 and had to show the young cats how to use post hole digger. Well, 8 fence post later I was down from my desk job a week.
Awesome table, I imagine it weighed about 600 pounds? My one complaint is the water dripping from the cooler 11:58 . I would have created some sort of plastic catch reservoir that could be emptied later or a gutter/tube drain system; maybe next time...hahaha
That's a BEAST of a table! The cooler in the middle is the perfect addition.
Awesome build!!! Peace and Good Fortune to you and your family and all the other guys.
thanks!
I was happy to see that no one swallowed their bottle cap. Rock on Brad.
I had a close one 😂😂
Johnny totally nailed that beer opening bit at 12:11. 😂
This table would also make an awesome work bench! Very Cool Video Brad!
heck yeah! We were talking about that when we built it. Would make a killer bench for sure
Gotta buy some 12inch auger bits 👌🏼 that’s what I use. Also get some drills with a brake they won’t twist your arm off
Love the Drink tub in the middle of the table, Wild.
Nice big chunky table. Really like the ice box idea, you could develop that for other uses in the middle. Well done!!
Thanks!
thats awesome looking, id love to see a matching chair to go with it for my backyard
Amazing work! A masterpiece of art!
This is awesome and exactly what I’m going to build! Instead of 6x6s I’m going to use 4x4s to cut weight.
Any suggestions or anything you’d do differently looking back on this build? Thanks!
I'm no expert but I would of used the drill press for all those holes or at least some stronger corded drills. But in any case the table came out nice.
Yeah, just working with what I had 😀
Hey man i found that using a impact drill works better with that auger bit u r using, and its a lot safer for ur wrists
Great table. I'm thinking it need some cedar chairs to go with it.
That is a beast of a table! Solid work Brad
What a giant gorgeous table ! love it , wonderful job .😊
thanks!
Great build. That table is a BEAST. How many of you had to go to the dentist afterwards?
😬 still got em all 😂😂
Great Job Brad! Looks super solid and super heavy! Lol Would have been cool if you could have made to long benches for the table!
Yeah, we talked about Mike Montgomery making some benches but he had other things going on :)
Make sure when you use the belt sander it is moving in different places otherwise you’ll end up with a big dip also it’s great to do circles
That looks absolutely amazing.
thank you!
I love Joshua Tree! We go there at least a couple times a year. I would love to be a part of this next year. Please let me know if that's possible.
Stay tuned to the Modern Maker Podcast for all the details
Biggest project? I built a picture frame once. But I love this table. I'm always looking for ideas to possibly to use as a basis for a desk. This might be it. I'll just have to make sure I never need to move the desk. Ever.
I've done a couple different desks. Check these out! ua-cam.com/video/lih8UdNzWF8/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/hNgtcgiWJ0c/v-deo.html
Great table. I like it a lot. Drink holder is a terrific idea. Thanks for sharing video.
When I see you doing projects .. I said 2 my self that so easy i can do it .. but it turned into a topsy turvy
He’s just showing off and wasting your time.
I’m thinking the bottles tops were loosened. Except for Ben’s. btw talk about a squad! You need to recreate the dog picture with you all!
A cooler a grill and Charging Oulets and Bluetooth built in speakers.......That will be an all in one Party table
ultimate party table then!
My first thought, when I saw this video, was, that this guy is a man's man. I don't know if you understand what I mean ........ 😀👍😎💪🍻
Great build Brad! That table looks like it would withstand a nuclear blast............... :)
I'm so jealous of all those great tools lol
It was a great project and the result was a beautiful table. If you make the same table without power tools and no metal fasteners I bet you will get one million views!!!!
Great job Brad. Giving me ideas for when I finally get a patio!
Thanks, Carl!
WOW. That is one massive table. Nice job. Also, to some of us, you are one of the young guys :)
This turned out FREAKING AWESOME!!!!! I learned a LOT from this video, and Im definately gonna start using some of these techniques next spring!
Awesome build.
This is almost as thick as some of the workbenches I see people building these days! Lol
That table is awesome but where can we see the build of that beautiful container house?
On Ben's channel for it! ua-cam.com/video/QA5fh29rhLs/v-deo.html
Wow, you hogged up all that wood for an outdoor table! If it were inside, at least it would be earthquake protection! :-)
Heavy man. Very heavy.
this looks great i'm making a table like this but with out the sink. And its with some old wood i found in a barn for the old man. but i'm lost on what to do to not make it sag in the middle, any suggestions?
Awesome build, would love to have seen the ice chest to be recessed into the table though.
It would look nicer but might be harder to remove.
Great project 👍
Setting out to build a table out of 1000 pounds of beautiful wood with the sole purpose of placing a beer cooler makes it very clear the level of decomposition that has been reached as human beings.
It's great isn't it?
Two screws in the legs doesn't seem like enough to prevent them from rotating around the threaded rod. Did you find that the wobbled at all?
El trabajo está bien hecho, pero habéis utilizado materiales demasiado buenos para un proyecto tan simple, derroche de material
I could think of many more suitable uses for almost $1,000 worth of Cedar beams. At least it looks kinda nice?
I could think of many worse uses too :)
Looks awesome, great job Brad! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
thanks, Fred!
Yessss
legit question can i request a table that you can make for me? you're work its amazing i have been watching all you're videos you make better furniture than all of this companies!
I built something like this with 4x4s and an old kitchen sink for the basin
what do you think of these woodworking plans? I keep seeing them everywhere but idk if they are good or not. lmk what you think
Thanks great video buddy
Great build. Reminded me of the one Crafted did as well. May have to follow suit. Cheers
Brad I see you made this project at your job location in Joshua Tree.... where is your home base? Are you located in Southern California?
that's a lot of wood, nice table!
I love it!!!
Heat the metal after score it to bend makes it easier
Legendary!
Awesome build. Loved the beer opening ending :)
thank you!
Amazing! Did you install any kind of drainage in the drink well? (Apologies if I missed that on the video.)
yep, drilled holes in the corners and left welds open
Nice! I wish he would finish up the container home videos.
love it
what a fun build :-)))
a bit late to the party, but that ice would melt in my part of the world, cover them up!
Would this work with smaller pieces of lumber? Smaller width posts perhaps
Beefy! No ones gonna steal that.
Dude love the build and your videos. But tell your neighbors to mow
Looks incredible, came out so great! Are those huge cedar posts easy to find out there? Inspiring to watch, thanks for posting!
And how do you clean the cooler out? By turning the table upside? :)
I am looking at a 'weight bearing' table to take on about 400 kg - would this table be able to handle it? or is it more decorative?
Thanks
That thing looks so heavy you just leave it when you move out. Very cool workout...eh..project!
oh yeah, that thing isn't ever being moved again
I'm building a table from sleepers, (250mm / 125mm / 2.4m), I've already cut the sleepers so they are now (250mm / 65mm / 2.4m), do you have any suggestions on how to drill holes through all sleepers so they are perfectly aligned? I have 12mm stainless 1m long bolts to put through 4 sleepers to give with of just over 1m with washers to go between each sleeper. Thank you.
Hello! Great table. I’m planning one out myself. What height did you make it and did you have leg clearance issues given it’s 6” thick and chairs are around 18” floor to seat? Please let me know, thank you!!
Qué chingónnn!!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I'm thinking workbench 👍
i Need a ice cooler too...
in my desktop pc case.
double it as water cooling!
How heavy was this table after all?
Looks nice! Why not do 4 rods? one on each side of the middle cooler?
I thought the same thing. 4 rods should eliminate the need for the angle iron.
so you found a drill press and used it to make a hole in your jig
but it has not crossed your mind to use it to drill the holes in the 6 by 6
are you sure that you are an engineer ? :P
The throw on that thing is 2" 😉
Are you also in Joshua tree CA with the other builders? Gorgeous result :-)
Nope, i'm in Nashville :)
How heavy is tbis table?
