I'm a lifelong Beemer rider, and fan! My first bike was an R80G/s which I bought new in 1985... That is still, the best bike I've EVER owned!!! I used to eat squid on Mulholland Drive back in the 80's, pass them like they were standing still, scrapping those big jugs on the corners...and then they'd get up to the Rock Store as I was finishing my first beer, and walk around my bike, over and over, again, a whole group of squids...land faring squids... It was hilarious. On straightaways they'd take me, but on the curvy stuff, I'd eat their lunch! I went from RDs (Boy were those FUN bikes!) to the G/S, and I've never looked back. I LOVE THESE BIKES! I've ridden those 1150GS's and they are deceptively fast! It tops out sooner than my R1150RS, but I think it's quicker in the short run because of lower gearing, until I get going. These bikes aren't superbike fast, but believe me, they can be ridden unbelievably fast, with confidence! It is awe inspiring how well they handle, and the brakes are AMAZING! Truly. Thanks for the review, bro! Riding with shorts, btw, FREAKS me out! I've seen people get down to bone riding shorts in a heartbeat, before they knew what was going on, when they had to lay their bikes down... I hope you don't make a habit out of that!
I have just bought a 2004 Adventure, having had a succession of sports / sports-touring bikes. The handling and extreme comfort are amazing, I absolutely love it. I validate everything Sean said about the bike - its a revelation and being fairly simple, I trust myself to actually be able to fix it!
If you meet a STOP signs here in Denmark, you have to stop..... to bring your bike to a full stop. I hope the rules in your country are different. But what an awesome bike. Wow. My brother has a 1100GS and it is awesome. So I can only guess how the bigger 1150 is. Love your video. Cheers bimmer brother.
in the states failure to come to a complete stop is usually a slap on the wrist. So usually it's used as a reason to take a peek inside to see if you're an impaired driver, then let you go with a warning. I think written law is it's supposed to be a 2 second stop, not strictly enforced at all
I had one of these back in 2004, thats the sound of the standard exhaust. Great machine but sooooo heavy. The ride on my Himalayan is very similar to the Beemer!.
Love your videos but in this video your yelling at cars ("don't do it") while they're waiting for you to pass but at timestamp 4:31 from a side intersection you cut right in front of a car who has the right of way on a highway, that's not cool and a bad example. For safety it's better for bikers to yield to traffic more often because cars will be cars.
If you are intent on riding in the rain you need to do it on a Kawasaki Concours. Anybody who has ridden one in the rain will tell you that as long a you are moving everything goes over your head and you will stay pretty dry.
If you have to go out in the rain it makes real sense with this bike because these bikes will actually protect you without having to wear the carbonfibre over Kevlar flesh colored Knee attachments ? .. Just wondered cos they is ugly things.. ;)
With heavy bike like this it is more secure to come to almost stopping, but keep the balance and then roll on, then to blindly follow the rules and come to a full stop for no reason. It was a very good view crossing anyway.
