Hooray! Someone teaching the proper way to throw-Sadly, I estimate 90% of softball players, at all levels, throw incorrectly. In the mid-90’s I attended a coaching clinic by California Angels manager Rene Lachemann lamenting that a huge percentage of of Major League Baseball players didn’t know how to throw a baseball when they arrived at the professional level. So he taught us, using rookie Tim Salmon as his demonstrator.
Roflmao...having 1 way is a Limited path. No Body as nobody is the same. Shame most coaches think their way is only way...and thus everyone else must be wrong.
I have been playing for a few years and I'm still scared so I watch these and it all comes back to me because I have to wait a year to play again so I forget this is the best vid I just found this vid it really helps me
I love the emphasis on the glove arm to guide the direction of the ball. I’ve always thought of it as a way to get some leverage too. I often see people throw and drop their glove not using it to point it as leverage. This is an excellent video!
Outstanding instructional video! ... the only thing I didn't agree with was the front foot being planted at a 45 degree angle ... pointing toward the target has always yielded tighter accuracy for me.
Pick your head up kid.... and just make the adjustment😊 You have to grow tuff skin...... when your learning a new sport and the correct mechanics. Hes actually trying to prevent you from hurting yourself.... good luck ⚾️
Thank you so much for this. I am 55 and still can not throw a ball properly. I didn’t start playing until 6th grade. In 7th and 8th grade made All stars. But my confidence always lacked as i was always told i was not a good at throwing. And i do not remember anyone ever taking the time to coach me. I did not play in high school. Then just adult women’s teams after that. So here i am at 55, joining a women’s team after not playing for about 18 years. And that voice is still in my head telling me i cant throw and I haven’t not been able to. I am trying to relearn and stop that voice in my head.
Absolutely should not be pointing hand rearward, that is, should not be pronating before arm goes forward. Pronation should be part of the release. Forearm should just be in a comfortable neutral position when ball is up.
The wrist should be neutral with the ball facing away from your body. Your neutral position would be about 135 degrees from your face. Im hoping as you say the pronation to reach and 180 degrees is just an exaggeration to prevent supination (turning thumb toward back of hand).
I saw that you covered the tuck method of the glove hand, (where you tuck the glove into your chest as you throw) but I was wondering if you could cover the flying technique, (where the glove arm flys behind your back as you throw) or if anybody knows if that is a bad habit or makes a throw less accurate or anything like that, that would be helpful to know as well.
I see my mistake my hand is pointing to the target on the wind up when the hand should be pointing backwards creating rotational force when you throw it
my coach sent this to my mom for me to watch 😌 i asked how i could get better at hitting and he sent me these they help but still confused on why i was sent this instead of hitting
the hands should not be facing away from the direction you are throwing, this promotes Tommy John's. Be ready for surgery soon. Your ball should point in the direction thay your shoulders are open to.
I love this video but the thing that I don’t like about this video its long and what if younger kids are watching this they probably won’t know what your talking about do more kid like videos.
Please DO NOT throw like this. If you want to learn proper mechanics look up "High Level Throwing" by Austin Wasserman or Dan Blewett's Snap Softball UA-cam page.
i have tryouts Saturday and i’ve been binge watching these all night
Got a game this coming Saturday, thumbs up
Bonolo Masima how was the game
Softball starts in spring. Its fall rn and it would be my first time playing. I like research
I cant even do that anymore cuz of the coRoNa
Just joined a softball team and geez throwing a softball is hard lol
I agree it takes time to learn
No only 2 day to learn
Mike Elizardo If you are taught correctly the first time it takes 2 days. If you learn wrong it may take much longer
It’s not that hard to throw correctly
@@mikelangreck1135 it depends what kind of throw you're trying to do and what muscles you have developed.

Day of tryouts. No experience. No equipment. But I am determined. I have borrowed some stuff.

I am a softball coach. If Leah throws left-handed what infield position can she play other then first base?
outfield, catcher, and/or pitcher.
