There is one Channel here that has an amazing set of videos for very beginner level sewing. I had quite a bit of experience, (even made my own prom dress back in the day), but going through the series was very helpful. Made To Sew is the Channel I believe. My understanding is that she made the videos for a friend who needed instruction but was no longer nearby which morphed into a very well done series done series. It helped me feel more confident about starting sewing again after so many years. (lets just round it to thirty years, lol). I liked it because the teacher is very professional about it all. I enjoy the more personal types of videos a lot, but for just diving back into sewing, I need very focused ones, and these videos are concise and focused on the task/lesson at hand at a beginners level.
Michele.....Made to Sew, Anika, is Ah-mazing!!!! She personally reached out to me to help me with my darts years ago ...I will never forget her kindness and her passion for sewing.....I will also never forget how to sew a dart😊
My go to book is a 1960s copy of the Vogue Sewing Book. It's a very good quick reference manual for techniques used in garment construction and tailoring. Not as in-depth as many of your recommended books, but it's a nice size for quickly pulling out and reading when you need to do some problem solving or working out order of operations. I also have that tailoring book and it really is so helpful for troubleshooting pattern problems! That's usually my book #2 when Vogue fails me.
You look so beautiful. I am thinking of learning how to sew but I will need to go to fashion school.in germany. I need to start learning the basic here. Thanks for stopping by my house
Those books look amazing, that is to show how much love and passion you really do have for sewing. For me,I really dislike sewing that comes with so many calculations and patterns lol,am trying to adjust to that..Thanks for sharing Sissy
Love your videos! I've noticed recently the sound is a little degraded (sounds a bit like a robot). Try turning the gain down on your microphone and that should help. Only saying this to try and help, I still love everything you're doing!
Thank you so much Julie for sharing, I love to have the some of the books,as I am into sewing too but is there a way you help us in sending the books to us in Africa,If I purchase them, thank you.
@desire Lotus......me too.....but don't give up..... I'm still trying.....sometimes, I'll start with a simple pattern, to help boost my confidence....like those masks, zippered cosmetic pouches, hats, etc
