This is a very important topic. Have you ever heard of Apeel? It is a well-funded additive that goes on to fruits and vegetables and apparently can't be washed off. It was developed to extend the shelf life of foods that would otherwise overripe or otherwise go bad. But based on the people who run the company, it looks like it is more chemical than natural substance at this point. I am not sure what stores use the product and which don't, but I think it is worth looking into. Not sure regular journalists would find this of interest.

Yes, thank you for mentioning this. I want to do a video on it. It's shocking that it's just been rolled out and it's now being used on both organic and non organic produce. People don't have a say in this. I don't want anything to do with it. I've heard that the company won't disclose all the ingredients as it's "proprietary." I had an idea to find a food testing lab to get it evaluated. I really want to know what's in it. I will look into this more. Thank you for bringing this up!

It's so hard to tell if these chemicals in foods are as bad as they seem or is it also the fact that it in the worst junk food? It's all bad

Yes, and there are so many other terrible ingredients in the same products. I think "garbage food" is a good term. :)

We’re always told that these dyes and additives are “considered acceptable”, yet they go on to say that the long-term effects are not fully understood. Many of us are trying to consume fewer processed foods, but even then, we’re still not sure about the possible harmful chemicals used around our ‘whole foods’ production.?

    • @LifeDIY

I guess they're "acceptable" for now. I think there's very little regulation with our foods & other things - especially when things are produced overseas. Even when there are side effects or issues, things tend to get swept under the rug...which we all witnessed that a few years ago.

@@LifeDIYI have a close friend that had complications after the jab.
The whole situation makes me think of Wendell Berry’s quote…”People are fed by the food industry, which pays no attention to health, and are treated by the health industry, which pays no attention to food”.

Here in Hawaii we call annato plant the lipstick tree. You can pop a pod open and rub it on your lips. It's a very strong blood red.
I add the seeds to my ice tea brew. It's 100 percent natural but that doesn't mean it's healthy. It is known to be an anti oxidant and carotenoid.

That's so interesting! It seems that there are so many reasons why some kids might react poorly to it - from pesticides to processing with lye and extraction and chemicals added. Companies can buy it in powder or liquid form and it's often combined with either an oil like soybean oil or with potassium hydroxide. But, I know there are also reported benefits from it, like you said. I wish it would be studied more.

Good that I live in EU, but here dyes are still sold for baking. I always check ingredients in my food, and avoid any additives.

Thank Jesus!!! I wish Georgia would!!! Poison Poison Poison in everything
I have to pay 10.00 for Chosen mayo at Costco
It's put me in debt trying to feed a big family of 5
3 adult males and 2 females
I'm seriously going to go Bankrupt because I can barely afford groceries
And my health comes before anything
I don't get my hair done buy any new clothes etc

I totally understand that about the ridiculously expensive mayo - one of two brands (that I know of) that use avocado oil and better ingredients (no soy). I know it's incredibly expensive to eat healthier because I only have two people in my house and it's so expensive. I've been searching around lately to find a way to buy 1/8th of a cow so I can get it cheaper in bulk. For anyone interested, you can search your area on eatwild.com.

I have been saying for the last year, that I always feel bad like my gut, really gassy so I tried the no gluten and just better eating, it’s like they are trying to make us sick, anyway if you do go to healthier food it’s double triple the grocery bill

    • @LifeDIY

Yeah that's relatable with the stomach issues and the expensive food. I'm gluten-free too. The big companies just care about the money more than anything. I've found that vegetables tend to cause me a ton of stomach issues, so I cut them out.

so let's see if i can scratch the surface a little. all harmful additives added to foods need to go thru a long legal process before being removed. the replacement for the said chemicals are other chemicals which are just as harmful (if not more harmful) but on which we do not have any studies on. then after 10-15-20 years, and after that chemical did a lot of harm, the long legal process starts again, and then again we replace it with other compounds which are again toxic but there is no legal "research" about it, so it passes as clean.
and this goes on, and on, and on.
about "eating ze bugs" - guess what ? we are already eating that for a long time now. "natural red dye" or other additives are made out of bugs. same goes with the "protein flour" which made it's way into many common processed food items. all that some billionaires did was to invest in building bigger processing units for this type of products(also invest in ways of making us using more), but we are consuming it for some time now.
about the natural dye at the end of the video, made out of idk what natural seed and all that. being natural does not mean it's safe for consumption. you know what else is natural ? cyanide. cyanide is natural. and it has no other purpose than to be used as fast poison.

    • @LifeDIY
      @LifeDIY  2 місяці тому +1

Very good point about what is natural! It can be a killer. Too bad some of these companies don't put a little effort into creating products that aren't totally horrible and toxic. I think they're being lazy with the ingredients they're using - in order to create a perfect texture, look or taste, without considering how toxic it is or how terrible the ingredients are. I really hope they don't replace the horrible ingredients with worse, less-studied ones. We'll have to see.

pfff now that's a can of worms that's been opened here. and the most frustrating part about it ? this platform never lets me talk about it. messages are always censored when i say the reality of the matter. "it's negative" they say. "no negativity allowed" and "only good vibes" because this is a "safe space" and all that jazz.
