I get a kick out of some of the comments here. People dumping on the health care etc. Let me tell you something my cousin was born and raised in Canada and moved to Greece in the 90's. She got married and has lived there since. She returns to Vancouver every few years and every time she comes tells me to hurry up and leave Canada as it's gone down the toilet and gets worse everytime. She says the health care is far better in Greece especially if you have private insurance.
I've been struggling with a serious shoulder issue for 4 years now. My doctor took no interest in it, it took me over a year to see a specialist who did nothing but give me one injection. After that i still had issues and requested a MRI. My doctor had to refer me back to the surgeon ti get a requisition for a MRI. Once my requisition went through it took me 1 year before i got my MRI on April 25, 2024. Finally they found i have 2 torn tendons, arthritis and muscle atrophy so my arm doesn't stay in its joint. Surgery is required and now I'm waiting to get a date. I've been dealing with this since October 2020 if this sounds appealing to you please come to Canada.
I'm going to retire soon and i cant wait to pack my bags and leave Canada for good and I'm looking forward to a better life in Greece.

My wife and I moved to Nafplio nearly two and a half years ago and I can tell you coming from Toronto Canada the health care is far better here. I needed to see a specialist to go over a blood test, we called on a Friday and got an appointment for Monday!

I am a Greek living in Greece and let me add some more info on what you've said. Here we hear good things about Canada's health system, but that's your part of info you know better than I. Now in Greece, public health system is superb in paper but in real life it has many "but" around it. Yes, most of the doctors working in the public system are top notch, and some of them may go crazy until to find exactly what a patient is suffering from and what is the most appropriate cure for it.
But then, nurses in public care are always just a few and if the patient needs some intense care, his relatives have to hire illegal "assistants" from the black market as nurses, who most of the time are not educated to do this, just to say the least.
Then, if the patient needs any kind of surgery there are long times of waiting like months or even years, then the patient has to practise illegal activities, which off course include black money changing hands, in order his issue to be accepted as an "emergency" situation.
Then again, the country is one of the main gates of incoming illegal immigrants to Europe who load the public health system while living in Greece, which means, a system designed for ten millions of people has to support ten millions of citizens, plus three millions or so of illegal immigrants, plus millions of tourists. This situation is more evident in ER where a seriously injured person is left parked somewhere waiting for hours. If this seriously injured person will still be alive to be treated after so many hours, is a debate, but at least this person will recall this traumatic situation for the rest of her/his life.
And last but not least, Greece is not a primary country in financial terms, which means, Greece is subordinate to the interests of other countries who rule the general game and when the economy goes up the public health care has some money to work, and when it is not, public health care in Greece goes south like a third world country, literally.

And you'll probably find it. I'm moving my family out of the US later this year. Canada and the US, economically, are about the same: housing crises, low wages, horrible police, and do-nothing governments, and outrageous health care (for the US, primarily).
I'm fifty, and looking to live my last days in Greece 🎉

I really like to watch foreign people who live or visit Greece. To see their prospective. Truth be told, Greece can be heaven on earth if you have a steady income of 2000+ Euros. For us Greeks it's really tough to go by because of all this immoral behavior of politics, justice and law behavior. Rich people do as they please and condemn the rest of us in poverty, but the rest of us are doing the best we can to help and provide a better life to everyone, out of are own good will.

Greece is the right country for me if I were a millionaire and didn't have to work for a living and had a nice passive substantial income from being a millionaire. Then yes Greece is the perfect country for me. I'd probably live in Athens though or Nafplio. I wouldn't live on an island. I like the Greek cities.

Sorry to break it to you, but the climate and the weather aren't the same thing. The weather is the daily conditions. You may have a very bad weather in Greece too. But usually, the weather doesn't change a lot within a day (like in Denmark for example). But the climate is great, all over Greece.

"People are pretty much free to do whatever they want". First of all, this is the source of all reasons for our bankruptcy in 2010. Secondly, many Greeks think that they live in a Dictatorship, only because this government enforces the laws and imposes fines. So, your statement was to the point.

Of course as long as you have good morals and behaviour and don't do something that is not good to what most think is bad you re ok and free to do so. In other countries not really. It's more tight.

It is not the boilers fault that you burned so much Diesel. The Diesel for the heating of the houses in Greece cost 1,30€/ Litre in winter 2023-24 and the Diesel for the cars and trucks almost 1,80€/Litre (1 gallon 3.9 Litres in the stupid Imperial scale). Those prices as further from Athens as you go the bigger they get.
