- Igor Balalayev performs "Ti gibel maya" from the Russian version of Cocciante/Plamondon's musical "Notre-Dame de Paris". What an awesome Frollo! I have no idea what is actually going on in the vid (since, sadly, I do not understand Russian) and I would greatly appreciate any info on what these people are saying - apparently they are grading Mr Balalayev's performance and one of those judges gave him a 9 instead of 10... o_O wtf.

Мягкий Фроло получился, такой не убьет ))). Везде у него нежность слышны вместо страсти. Это прям какая-то любовь, а не одержимость )))).
Он не исполнил песню, он её прожил от первого до последнего аккорда. Браво!

Вообще, два моих любимых Фролло - Балалаев и Маракулин. У них они разные, но оба офигенные.

Чет Виктюк намудрил, Игорь резко убрал руки после слова " объятья", одернул, как-будто обжег руки, как-будто спохватился и проклял себя за чувство.Самое то, что надо.
Kristina Valinurova, он еще пел Hellfire, арию Фролло из Диснеевского Нотр Дама, в которой было много метафор, связанных с огнем

Он поет, как мне показалось, даже более проникновенно, чем в оригинальной французской версии поет другой артист. Очень сильно. Очень впечатляет.

анна никитенко Вы просто Маракулина не слышали, видимо. Послушайте, поймете, что нельзя говорить обобщенно о всех голосах русской версии. Правда, послушайте. Если Вы музыкант- Вы поймёте, о чем я.

To add to the answer to the OP'S question... While the judge in gold is trying to show off how great of a producer he is...LOL... The other judge points out that if Mr.Balalaev is able to capture the audience, that's all that matters, especially from the commercial point of view (ticket sales), which, let's face it, is the end game for any commercial venue, whether we like it or not.
And here we are: May 2016.Last week I have attended a play at Moscow Theater which featured Mr.Balalaev (Lady Macbeth Of Our Village): not only it was literally filled to the brim (extra folding chairs were put in the aisles), Mr.Balalaev was buried in flowers at the curtain call. There was a line of people who wanted to present him with flowers and he was forced to return to the front of the stage 4 (four!!) times because he couldn't carry them all at once. So, yeah, the proof is in the pudding, ain't it...lol..
And where is the walker in the gold suit? No one knows, and, more to the point, no one cares ;)

That judge says Mr. Balalayev should stretch his hands like in prayer to Esmeralda because (as he says) Frollo hated Esmeralda for destriying and killing him ("Ti gibel maya"means "You are my death" literally).But the other judge answers that such a gesture would touch the audience and the show would make more profit.
