I think the shoe rack is actually a book rack. Either way, it works. I was once asked if I ever used an item for what it was intended for... the answer is not really. Get creative, don't let others define your creativity. You are worth it! Thanks for sharing your fun and unique ideas.

Ran to the comments to see if anyone else recognized it as a CD/DVD rack. We had that exact model for many years (just recently sent it to the thrift store 😂).
My daughter actually made the same mistake of thinking the cd/vhs rack was a shoe rack. But, oh boy, when she found out she got super excited because she and her boyfriend collect vhs tapes. She went back to the thrift store to buy the matching rack!

If I can add something.... The Habitat Restore takes items from you after you’ve remodeled your house...cabinets, light fixtures, half full paint cans, anything home improvement related! It’s the Perfect place to go if you have rental properties and you need to replace something that’s gotten damaged. They will send a truck and haul the items to the store for you!

My husband has found so much at different ReStores over the years. Habitat for Humanity is one of our favorite organizations. We even set them up as part of our wedding registry as an alternative to gifts for us.
Our dining room table is a hand-me-down from my dad. It used to be his conference table, and he gave it to us when he retired. He bought it at an antique store.

Well now I know for SURE I live near you! We were just in the same ReStore this weekend. We also looked at that table set, but it doesn't fit our style. Glad it found a great home with you. We also commented on the white and turquoise chairs. We didn't find the right kitchen table, but we did score a great coffee table and a hanging fixture for our foyer. Love that place!!!

I’ve never flipped any furniture, but last year, my local ReStore got some new-in-box items from Target, and they still had a few items left this January that they marked down. I got a new-in-box, 6 drawer, real-wood dresser for $100 and a new-in-box white loveseat for $150! I found both items on the Target website and they don’t sell them anymore, but when they were for sale, the couch was $900 and the dresser was $520!!! I’m still so excited that I was able to score these items!

Love that you recycled a book shelf for shoe rack! Glad you didn't remove the moveable book ends so if you want to use as a book shelf later down the road you can hold your books up if they don't fill the shelf. Always enjoy your videos. Thank you.

Love habitat , I always donate my furniture there too, I even grab furniture to take there because the thought of it in the trash is not the home I want it to go.
You mentioned the ReStore some years back and I went not really expecting so much and was blown away. We bought a solid wood headboard for our youngest for $25. This video reminded me that we needed to go back for home additions before hitting the furniture store.

I love the Restore. When I first moved out of my own and couldn't afford furniture, I got a couch there for $5. I actually used it until last month when I went back to the Restore and got a $70 couch.

Can the general public shop at the Restore? I always thought this was exclusively for people with houses being built by Habitat for Humanity. I am trying to secure items to build my own tiny home, so this would be awesome to start getting everything I need for my future home.

I think the shoe rack was actually a holder for VCR tapes back in the day- my family had them. The slider thing helped keep them from tipping over if it wasn't full. Great re-purpose!
I have one from years ago filled with CDs. And yes it has those sliders also. Mine is oak.

I found my kitchen chairs at the ReStore. They are just what I had been searching for and they had been marked down to $22 each! Yes, please! They came home with me right then and there.

You embrace the knowledge of "thrift store" finds! That is a rare gift of retailing wisdom. I once bought at a thrift store, a London Fog full length rain trench coat, with the price tag still attached for $1,200.00. i purchased it for $12.00. And a Antique Roseville cookie jar, normally priced at $1,500.00 for $5.00. Fitz and Floyd coffee mug original price $45.00 for $3.00. My mother, who now is in Heaven with my dad. We would spend hours crafting, our business was "Norske Heart". and having fun antiquing. I so much enjoy your videos...That Speaking on behalf of my mom, she too would love your kindred spirit in your you tube videos! Thank You for sharing!

Just got back from the thrift store, and her advice is spot on! It's always a better trip when you have inspiration of what you want and how it could fit/look in your space. I also keep space measurements of places I want to fill in my home in my phone and a tape measure in my car, you never know when you'll find that item that's just right. ❤️

Shhhh! Habitat for Humanity is the best kept secret. We purchased a beautiful new $400 Kohler porcelain sink for $40 when we were upgrading our countertops. We've changed our our dining room chandelier with one from HFH. Most recently bought a table desk for $35 painted it with paint we already had, for a fabric cutting table. It's beautiful and I love it!

I checked out the Restore in my hometown for a computer armoire to upcycle for a cricut craft station. I found a really nice wood one for $20!! I always find items there when I go.
