Now to be fair, Wolffe wasn't completely cold-hearted, he still had some care and respect for his men, and even his Jedi General Plo Koon, as taught to him by Plo Koon during the Mission to Quarmendy, as seen in the Star Wars Adventures: The Clone Wars - Battle Tales Comics, where Plo Koon showed how much he cared for the Clones and how much Wolffe and his men in turn respected and trusted Plo Koon. So he wasn't completely cold-hearted, I think he was a lot like Doga, someone who just wants to follow his orders like a good soldier, but as we see in Rebels he eventually grew out of this to make his own right decisions, presumably because of the influence of people like Rex, Plo Koon, Gregor, and so on who helped him become a free thinker, which is why I'm sure will see him and many other members of the Wolf Pack join Rex's growing Clone Rebellion in the Bad Batch to try and avenge Plo Koon, his brothers, and the Republic. They'll of course fail, but it will be an honorable and epic last stand and a nice attempt at least. Also, on a side note, why is everyone we do in these series always colder than they seemed, can't we do someone who was nicer than they seemed?
Commander Wolfe may have had an apathetic and simple approach to his tactics, but it seems there was a bit of finesse to this simplicity of tactics. Him actually using the same tactic Kendell Ozell used better shows that little bit of finesse.
With how Dave Filoni showed favoritism and care with designing the wolfe pack's armor, it's clear to see that Commander Wolfe is Dave Filoni's fursona.

Captain Rex follows orders that get his men killed all the time with little to no complaint. Rex wouldn’t have fought against Krell as much if Fives wasn’t barking in his ear. Rex follows orders to keep the Pantoran guy alive during the Episode Trespass and his only disagreement is that the generals ordered the men to keep him alive and not to actively go after the natives. Wolfe is clearly meant to be a grouchy ass man who just wants to do his job. The clones in general clearly understand they are glorified canon fodder and don’t get attached to their brothers. Rex is an exception because of Anakin, king of attachments despite being a Jedi. And personally I’ve never heard anyone say that Wolffe is some sort of bleeding heart soldier trying to be a hero. He’s very much always portrayed/described as being kind of an ass.
@@ouissam2502 The clones we see in the clone wars are exceptions, that’s always been understood. Wolfe is acting like an actual soldier would in real life. What was he supposed to do about Ozzel? Disobey a direct order? I know it's portrayed as heroic when Rex does it, but that's not the reality of war. You obey your superiors even when you disagree (barring yhen ordering you to commit war crimes), because they usually have a more knowledge of the situation then you do.
The issue here is the intent of the commanding officer. Both Wolffe and Rex obeyed their commanding officer without deviating from their orders, and both of them disagreed with the orders they were given. The difference is that Ozzel was simply incompetent, but Krell was actively a traitor to the Republic. Since Ozzel was the commanding officer, Wolffe and the battalion had no reason to disobey him. But Krell was committing treason against the Republic, and thus he should’ve been stripped of his military command and discharged. Making what Rex and the 501st did technically just getting rid of a massive risk to the government. Either you wouldn’t and you’d disobey, or if you did start killing, the military brainwashes people a lot better than I thought it did.
