Okay then maybe I can ask you this question. I have stigmatism in both eyes because God said ha!! And I'm looking into getting my first reddot sight or prism sight. Is prism really that much better than a red dot if you have stigmatism?

    • @greatcornholio5541

@@TrojanSalesmen1 ran red dots for 20 years in the military…aim points not exactly cheap. Last couple years I got the fuzzy bean shape and it drove me nuts. Tried someone’s prism and it was night and day better. Currently I run a 1X spitfire vortex with no complaints and love that it’s etched if the battery fails

    • @bryy2053

@@TrojanSalesmen1 yes absolutely. I have it in both eyes too. When I look through a prism vs red dot, it's an easy choice for me in my case. I've tried to justify dealing with it and getting a red dot but every one I've looked through either was unusable or was just annoying and distracting, like staring at a supernova. Not ideal while trying to zero or get a clear sight picture in dark environments. Prisms are a Godsend "in my eyes." (No pun, im serious) I've been very impressed with primary arms and I have them mounted on everything from a scorpion micro to an AR. Red dots for handguns are basically a no go,.and I'd rather pracice with irons than deal with contacts or glasses, which may or may not be in or with me when I need to use the gun. So I deal with LPVOs or prisms and have learned red dots are a no go. Gods will :) plus like i mentioned, I like options and backup plans, so a few extra ounces to add etched reticle capability when batteries die, ill take that.

This optic is extremely nice given what it costs. I have the V2 green variant and it's absolutely daylight bright. It has a slight magnification for objects within, say, 0-20 feet or so, but it is very manageable. Certainly some higher end LPVO's look better at 1x, but again this is sub $300. Honestly I love it for a truck/trunk/backpack gun.

Primary Arms had a few slip through that had thread issues that caused the illumination problem you’re having. They replaced them real quick!
The 1MOA clicks in practice mean the most your rifle would be off is a half inch at 100 yards. Not optimal, but certainly not a big deal for a 1X sight.
They have an auto off feature that enhances their already almost red dot long battery life. Set it and forget it my friend.
Primary Arms really knocked it out of the park with these. Despite a little tiny fish eye it’s much more functional than a red dot is with my astigmatism. (Previously ran Aimpoints and LPVO’s here)
I just picked up the 3X and it blew me away even more than the 1X. The glass quality is phenomenal for the cost. Eye box is a little tight but on par with any LPVO on 3X if not better. I hope you get one of these in for review too. Love your videos!

One thing to keep in mind on these... the manual says to tighten the base to 65 inch pounds. Seemed high to me. Broke 2 bases before someone at Primary Arms customer support told me that the manual is absolutely wrong and they should not be tightened beyond 35 inch pounds. 20 inch pounds for the threads to the spacers, 35 for the base to the rail.

  • @mavrikmavrik3032

I have three of these (yes I jumped on the bandwagon after I bought my first one). So far I haven’t had the illumination problem you’ve had but I haven’t stressed them seriously yet (I will be doing that in the next few weeks though). I have both the red and green and both are very bright. I haven’t tried them under night vision but plan to do that soon as well.
One caution I will say is that shooting this type of reticle can be different than shooting a dot type aiming point. Aim point and hold over for short distances (25yards and closer) are very different when you are shooting the two reticles. For example with a red dot I typically aim (look at) a point above where I want my impact to be. This “hold over” puts the bullet lower into the target. With this reticle I look where I want the impact to be but move the reticle up to the hold over position. It’s a different way of shooting that takes time to get used to.

I’m not even going to lie. I bought one of these, slapped it on my DDM4V9 and then never zero’d it. I did not know until just now that the cyclops reticle adjusted in 1moa increments. I would expect that from the Gemini as it’s a 9mm adjusted reticle but I actually just assumed that the cyclops would come in 1/4 or 1/2 moa clicks.
That may have swayed my purchase had I payed attention.
That being said, other than that, I love it just by looking through it. Crystal clear glass and the reticle is crisp. I’ll be interested to see how it actually performs at range now knowing that my zeroing will be limited to some degree.

You'll want it closer to your charging handle if your using an AR15 platform, for example. However you can shoot with both eyes open just like a red dot. If the battery fails you still have a reticle to use not illuminated. I think it's mucho better. Prism optics better with astigmatism also. Red dot bad for astigmatism.

I’ve got one. I know it’s supposed to be 1x, but it’s got a weird fish eye effect and some magnification. It doesn’t sound like much, but with actual use it drives me nuts and I can’t bring myself to like the thing. Using it with the Vortex 3x magnifier requires a lot of adjustment from both optics focus eyepiece, to the point that I don’t think it’s worth doing - you may as well just get the 3x version if you are trying to go that route.

    • @CDOES
      @CDOES  2 роки тому +1

It depends on where the eye piece is adjusted too. It wont be the same for everyone sadly. With a magnifier you do need to fine tune both to get them 'right' but it wont be as good as a non prism infront of a maggy

I just got my MP, this was going on my MPX PCC for USPSA. I must say I am very disappointed in it in 2 major aspects. First, the magnification appears to be approx .85x (negative) instead of 1x. The object/target viewed through the MP is smaller in size that my non-dominant eye, enough so that it is very disorientating. The second is using a Vortex 3x magnifier with it. In order to have the reticle clear in the magnifier required a LOT of adjusting of the diopter, to the point of there really being no point of even using it, as there would be no way to just flip the magnifier over for long shots then flip it back for close range (e.g. 2Gun matches). I talked to PA about both issues, and tried adjusting the diopter all the way in and out, also tried different positions on the rail (more/less eye relief), even tried different heights. Nothing helped the aspect difference problem. For the magnification issue, PA said having to adjust the diopter quite a bit is common with a magnifier. I really had a lot of hopes for this optic and my old eyes.
