I wouldn’t want to try to rank them, but my personal favorites would also include Coverdale, Gramm, Plant, and Mercury (great picks), along with Steve Perry, Ann Wilson, Brad Delp, Sharon den Adel, Tom Kiefer, and Geoff Tate. Not claiming “best” here, mind, just my personal faves.

My respect for you has gone up in droves although I must admit I'm a big fan of your videos - I have always had Paul Rodgers, Steve Walsh, Steve Perry, Steve Hogarth and Ronnie James as my 5 favorite male rock singers. You had three of them in your list and 2 in your top 3. To complete the top 10, let's add Steve Stills, Jon Stevens, Justin Hayward, Robin Zander and Dennis De Young. A hidden gem is AINT IT ALL AMUSING by ELF featuring RONNIE JAMES DIO. Its up there with STARGAZER and any number of the STEVE WALSH classics where his voice send you into orbit. I'm not a fan of any FOREIGNER music apart from the only album LG never appeared on UNUSUAL HEAT. Massive fan of LOU'S solo albums and ANGEL WITH A DIRTY FACE to me his most powerful vocal performance. Thanks for doing this video.

This is a great topic of discussion and so many good choices. Here is my top 10:
    1. Freddie Mercury-Queen (No one better than Freddie)
    2. Peter Steele-Type O Negative (Unbelievable voice and his deep bass notes couldn't be duplicated by anyone)
    3. Ronnie James Dio-Dio/Black Sabbath/Rainbow/Elf (What else can you say about Ronnie. Fantastic voice)
    4. Geddy Lee-Rush (Yes I am biased as Rush is my favorite band but Geddy's voice was top notch from start to finish)
    5. Bruce Dickinson-Iron Maiden (The Air Raid Siren can still belt it out)
    6. Jon Anderson-Yes (His voice is amazing with such a high register)
    7. Robert Plant-Led Zeppelin (Cant say anything about rock music without Plant. He brought a swagger to rock and blues)
    8. Ozzy Osbourne-Black Sabbath (One of the godfathers of metal. His voice of doom still rings out even today)
    9. Jeff Lynne-Electric Light Orchestra (Jeff has a smooth voice that glides over ELO's tracks)
    10. Dennis DeYoung-Styx (For me the voice of Styx. His power was felt throughout the band)

Great article. Most of my favourite singers are listed in your top 10, if not quite in the same order. Paul Rodgers is my no.1, but the likes of Lou Gramm, Freddie Mercury and Ronnie James Dio and Robert Plant would make up the remaining top 5.
Given you've listed the wonderful Lou Gramm as your no. 1 and talked about how great those Foreigner albums are, how about an album ranking of the Foreigner studio albums. I would certainly want to see and hear your views. Thank you for your channel.

Once again a great video with some very good vocalists. I would have to include Steve Perry form Journey in my top 10 - yes, Don't Stop Believin' has been played to death, but man, can he sing! I would also have Bon Scott - maybe not the best vocalist, but a very unique voice, and his albums with AC/DC have to be some of the best rock albums of all time.

You rightly point out the list in the vid was hard-rock-biased (David Byron and surely Graham Bonnet could be added; as to Halford, presumably the ranking excludes metal as a separate genre); leaving whole areas of rock uncovered. I am astonished not to see Rod Stewart on it, along with the ones you mentioned. Some singers who weren't screaming sirens could also find a place - Lennon, McCartney, Chris Rea, Roger Hodgson, Jeff Buckley. All in all, ten places aren't remotely enough, so many are sadly omitted.

Your list is very good, and I really appreciate the fact that you included Little Richard and David Coverdale. Little Richard singing Bama Lama Bama Loo is one of the all-time great vocal performances in my book. I'm not so sure about Steve Walsh being on that list, but that's a personal preference thing, I guess. Lou Gramm is a fantastic singer, but Foreigner doesn't quite do it for me as a band. So I think Ian Gillan should be number one, though that is neither here nor there. The rest of your choices are spot on, though personally I would replace some of them with the following:
    Bob Seger
    Ann Wilson
    Burton Cummings
    Elton John
    John Fogerty
    Justin Hayward
    Ozzy Osbourne
    Rod Stewart
    Jack Bruce
    Linda Ronstadt
    Chris Cornell
    Bryan Ferry
    Greg Lake
    John Kay
    Gregg Allman
    Kate Bush
    Bono
    Sting
    Michael Stipe
    Jon Anderson
    Carly Simon
    Neil Finn
    David Bowie
    Peter Gabriel
    Jim Morrison
    Actually, I'm probably looking at a top 50, aren't I? 😀

    Freddie is #1. That's all I have.
You have a right to be wrong... I can't name another singer/ songwriter who can touch his genius!
With that said... good video ;)

FREDDIE was terrible after the first 5 aibums. NEWS OF THE WORLD any anything after that were just awful. He was brilliant early on, especially on QUEEN i and ii.

Thank you so much for putting the forever imho underrated Steve Welsh of Kansas on your list so high!
I'm biased because I actually saw them in concert and it was just great. It was an outdoor show under the stars which so fit their sound. No only regret was, to quote my father, "not being able to get right with the world" due to taking my daughters and their friends to see a good show for once.
No puff puff pass for me that night
    😶‍🌫️😶‍🌫️😔😶‍🌫️😶‍🌫️
It was still a great show!

Agree with just about all but i would add Bob Seger as a great singer that gets overlooked. Shame on the Moon is a great example of how well he sings. If I Were a Carpenter another example but of him singing with that rocky side of his voice.

I've been looking forward to this count down. Pretty much what I expected from "Best vocalists", where tastes are wide and varied. With me choosing, I would have included, not only those with technical merit, but those that have given great depths of personal emotion. Coverdale, yes, Dio yes, Plant ,yes, Gillan, yes. But there are also those that are held in high esteem for just one or two sons that meant bucket loads to me. Lemmy, The chase is better than the catch and Orgasmatron. Then there's Noddy with his full on deafening tones in Mama, where all crazy now, and squeeze me pleeze me. Til Lindermam of Rammstein, has a very deep, yet powerfully emotive delivery that alters from song to song, Sonne is one that hold a foreboding to tell a dark tale, and Mutter from the same album in which Til portrays a character full of menace and vengeance at having been done wrong in the past. Lastly for me I have Kyo from Dir en grey of Japan. There are no words I can use to do justice to this guys singing. Just take a look and listen for yourselves. Don't stick to one song, but try several, and hopefully you'll experience his range.

Little Richard was the great Otis Redding's hero. Otis actually got his start as Little Richard - Little Richard's management got the notion of having the real Richard touring the world and playing the big cities while a knock off band also billed as Little Richard and the Upsetters played the hick towns. Mojo Magazine, of course, voted Tutti Frutti the #1 record that changed history. It's impossible not to feel that thrill up your spine when Richard lets loose.
