I am actually ADDING clover ALL OVER my yard because of the benefits. We live in a drought affected area and it's best to have SOMETHING growing in the ground than nothing; I chose clover! It grows well, attracts pollinating bees and is EDIBLE ❤ I will be doing the chop-n-drop technique with it and I'm hoping that eventually it will improve the soil enough to be able to extend my veggie patches into the yard more!

exactly. I am doing exactly that. I am planting 1 acre clover only. It is nice ,helps the bees and I have 8 fruit trees so it will be great. It can withstand big heat.
After I moved into my rented space and pulled out the weeds in front of my porch, grass would barely grow! After a year of patchy, ugly grass I'm growing a clover bed. Lower maintenance, hardier (I have a dog), and I think it's pretty!
I've personally always loved clover yards. We had one when I was a kid and we could run through it barefoot and the bees were our little pets. I've never liked the manicured lawn look because it feels stodgy and inhospitable. Like someone will yell at me if I step on it. No thank you.
@@Madmaximuss I beg to differ for the reasons stated above. Grass may be good, but when mowed, clover looks almost no different from grass, it's easier to sow and grow while it also keeps more moister in the ground when watered by preventing as much evaporation.
You're talking about white clover being bad for the lawn...but the MICRO CLOVER is what people are using on their lawns now and the micro makes the difference. Look it up.
I looked into purchasing Micro Clover seed (it blooms white) for a small area between my flower beds, but it's not winter hardy in zone 5a. It doesn't have as many blooms as Dutch White clover, the leaves are very small, and, according to the information, Micro Clover doesn't need to be cut. The seed is rather expensive, but if it would survive in my area, I would definitely plant it!
Ever since I have become interested in introducing clover into my yard, I have been seeing conflicting information. For example here you talk about the weed problem, but elsewhere I have read articles stating that clover helps to choke out the weeds. Each article or video I see contradicts the one before it.
I have white and purple violets with red and white clovers and chickweed and purple dead nettle and henbit in my few acres of lawn. Grass is actually a minority. Its great and smells fantastic. Only downside is that i have a carpenter bee problem
Hello. I'm hoping that someone here might take an interest in my problem... I have a lawn that 80% red clover and 20 percent grass. I have a mosquito problem. I'd like to avoid pesticides that will kill pollinators. I'm wondering if the Beer/Epsom/mouthwash sprays will kill my clover ( I don't want to kill the clover). And will this spray also keep away bees and other pollinators? Any experience or advice?
Hi, Planted clover last year and it was pretty in my backyard. I paid no attention to the yard this winter and all the clover appeared to be gone and the yard was full of weeds. What should I have done over the winter to prevent it from dying.
I put a diluted urine fertilizer in an area of my yard, and clovers began to dominate overtaking the centipede. So im not sure if i should continue fertilizing over what with these clovers.
Yes! It can take a lot more foot traffic, which means it grows where you walk the most and there are a lot of bees where you walk the most. We don't dare go out barefoot.
Growing up as a kid in the 80's and teen in the 90's there was always clover and dandelions in the lawns and no one cared. If the dandelions and clover were high it was time to cut the grass. Like I just don't get the obsession with grass only lawns of course most people don't do any lawncare or yard maintenance anymore and if you are paying someone else...
Why would anyone want a clean cut manicured lawn? They don't look good. They are all out flow for money with one benefit and that is just a slight cooling effect. Wild flowers do the same but with more benefits. As I have learned and am learning a lot of them are edible. 🎉

lilmisspeace can you just sprinkle the seeds in your yard or do you have to cover them?

Stop!!! Don't do it!

Clover is one of the best "weeds" you can have in your garden!
Clover with grass looks much nicer than just grass
True
False it looks like a cheap low IQ is maintaining their lawn.
Why even grow the grass at all? Is there anything wrong with just clover?

It's the only turf that stands up to chickens.
@@Space.Ghost. I don't know why but this comment almost made me cry laughing
@@indiciaobscure must've been the piss poor grammar.
Clover is beautiful and it takes less water, plus more tolerant of poor conditions. A perfect lawn is a waste of good soil.
The amount of low IQ in the comment like this one. These people should allowed no where around a house. See my comment above.
Clover is awesome and bees love it
Btw, you can eat clover. It's really good for you.
Cool learn something new everyday I have a three leaf clover in my hand rn ima wash it then eat it 😂
Eat and give milk in the evening, like a pro cow 😄

Reminds me of military installations with the “sgtmaj’s lawn” you don’t dare walk on it
Clover is also drought tolerant. If you have ducks, chicken or cows, it will also give your animals more nutrients when eaten.
This is not true. Grass is much better.

Here on the north west, maritime coast, seed mixtures of turf type tall fescue and micro clover have become very popular.

it shouldn't have died during winter, we have cold winters as well but it never dies, did you mow the lawn?
Can I oversees with clover in the spring?
yes, you can overseed with clover up until early fall typically
You can help bees survive nectar breaks by simply planting clover in existing lawn and let it bloom. Lawn with clover looks better

The entire concept of grass lawns just doesn’t compute. We haven’t had one in 35 years.
Thought they were gonna throw hands
I want something short and thick and easy to take care of that will completely crowd out my grass. Will clover do that?
Microclover
I didn't have the luxery of chosing, as clover just took over my lawn

Clover got a bad rap when herbicide chemical companies called it a weed .....for profit!
It also attracts rabbits.

Just plant trees that produce nitrogen
Clover can increase nitrogen in the soil, it's a common practice in agriculture, this guy has no idea what he is saying...
They said nothing
That guy hates any kind of vegetable.
