- This one is a 2021 Gibson Historic SJ-200 1957 in Natural. It has a torrefied Sitka Spruce top and flamed maple back and sides. Its a very lightly built instrument that is extremely responsive and just a joy to play!!
Great playing!
LOVE THE TONE!
Man that sounds awesome…. I have the 45 historic on it’s way now. This makes me rethink my decision! 😂
Is the neck slim or fat, D, or C shaped? - I know the standard J-200 has a slim C neck. Thanks
Hi man!
I know you're a huge J-200 fan, did you see new Epiphones?
I have a question. I hear that the back of the headstocks on these do not have the serial numbers. So besides with a sticker on the inside of the hole, where do they have a serial number?
Maybe on a neck block.
@@LegsON yes I looked, and it was there
This model has become one of my favorite guitars. Yours sounds exceptional in this vid! Any thoughts as compares to the J185 1952 you demoed as well?
Both this one and the J-185 were excellent instruments. I played a 57 J-200 at a shop recently at Sylvan Music and this modern recreation is quite close in tone to that actually vintage one I played quite a bit.
I understand that Gibson is shipping these with light gauge strings now. Are you using the 012s here?
Yes I had lights on it in this video. I will say that the actual 1957 vintage instrument I played and the 1949 SJ-200 I had both sounded better with lights to my ears. I use mediums on Martin Dreadnoughts though.
@@RockinB23 Thanks so much Bobby! Great video and great playing.
How do you find these compare to the historics ones like the one you demoed a few months ago? The 2005 57 reissue. Are they pretty much the same or one sounds better than the other?
These newer ones have the finish that feels more like an actual old guitar and the torrefied tops seem to add an old sound to the mix more so than the ones from 10-15 years back. I think the latest Gibson stuff has been excellent for the last 4 or 5 years now!
