- Lucas Crane And Jarvis Taveniere are only two-fifths of the touring incarnation of Woods, but their contributions go a long, long way towards shaping the sonic character of this dreamy, spacey, folk-rock band.
For his part, Lucas creates striking ambiance textures - and a striking image - by feeding a pair of Sony cassette decks and his own voice through delay and reverb pedals; essentially, Lucas plays a manual, two-sample Mellotron.
Jarvis's contributions include playing just about every instrument under the sun, as well as engineering Woods' recordings at the cleverly-named Woodsist HQ in upstate New York (Woods singer Jeremy Earl's house). We spoke with both Woodsists after their performance at the recent Pitchfork Music Festival.
