LYRICS
Walking Man by James Taylor
Moving in silent desperation,
Keeping an eye on the Holy Land
A hypothetical destination, say
Who is this walking man?
Well, the leaves have come to turning
And the goose has gone to fly
And bridges are for burning
So don't you let that yearning pass you by
Walking man, walking man walks
Any other man stops and talks
But the walking man walks
Well the frost is on the pumpkin
And the hay is in the barn
Pappy's come to rambling on
Stumbling around drunk down on the farm
And the walking man walks
Doesn't know nothing at all
Any other man stops and talks
But the walking man walks on by, walk on by
Most everybody's got seed to sow
It ain't always easy for a weed to grow, oh no
So he don't hoe the row for no one
For sure he's always missing
And something ain't never quite right
Ah, but who would want to listen
To you kissing his existence good night?
Walking man walk
Walk on by my door
Well, any other man stops and talks
But not the walking man
He's the walking man, born to walk
Walk on walking man
Well now, would he have wings to fly?
Would he be free?
Golden wings against the sky
Walking man, walk on by
So long, walking man

His voice is velvet. I will never recover from hearing "There we are" for the first time.
With Leland Sklar on the bass 😍
My God: Bill Payne, Dan Dugmore, Lee Sklar, Carlos Vega, Rosemary Butler and Arnold McCuller...in one band. Wrap your head around that for a moment.
Happy Birthday to James Taylor, my absolute favorite to share a birthday with! 🎉 Hope it’s a beautiful day!
Now that I'm over 70, this song takes me back to my hitch hiking days and hiking days ❤️ Thank you, JT 🙏
I LOVE THIS WALKING MAN VERSION VERY MUCHO ❤❤ WAY WAY BETTER
My heart! Carlos Vega!! RIP
When JT sings, what sweet and at times painful reflections and wistful appreciation of beautiful and wasteful seasons gone by.
Everything he does becomes an instant classic.
Great song. I love all of james taylor songs but my two favorite are
Going to carolina, You got a friend.
They both give great feelings from the heart to the heart. Carolina on my mind is about north Carolina. But I live in south carolina so I just let the carolina be in my mind.
You got a friend, make.Sure know that if you have a friend you're the luckiest person on earth a real friend❤
Love you James and I will come over soon ♥️🎸🕊️💫
I love this one too ! JT’s voice , message , the musical band , and singers are special ! A warm song. With a story . James forever - the best vocalist , writer , producer ! You make us happy

@@musicsavant1079 Wow - don't he sure add somethin' - master musician right there.
A National Treasure!!!
Man, James Taylor is an amazing talent! I'm a lifelong fan. 🙂 Thanx for sharing this gem!
So beautiful JT.🎵💗
Wow - utterly beautiful live cut of a song (and album) that I always felt was a bit under-rated. I've always really liked the Walking Man album and this song is really a beauty. Great band - which I'd seen them on the tour.
My history, present and future still❤
Can’t wait to see you James September 2024.
Happy Birthday James 🎉❤🎉
Beautiful.
I would have loved to have been there.❤
Even with a notification I still missed both of these. 😢
❤❤❤ from Italy!!

Absolutely wonderful!
Happy Birthday JT🥳
So beautiful James!
Simplesmente maravilhosa essa música do grande James Taylor...tenho tocado ela bastante😮...Walkin' Man...
❤❤❤❤❤ the real man
So good 👍
Thanks for sharing this, James. Wonderful
Hi James!
❤❤❤❤❤❤
❤❤❤❤❤
❤ per te ,dodo😢
❤❤😻
❤❤❤❤
❤
Like Carolina In My Mind, he plays it in a higher key than he does on the record. On the record he plays it E, and brings it down to D, and live, he plays it on F#, and then brings it down to E. Just an observation.
❤❤❤
Wow - Carlos, Lee, Billy Payne, Rosemary, Arnold, and is that Dan Dugmore?
👏👏👏👏👏👏🙏🖖
