Hey, I'm in this video... at the very end... in the background:) Anyway, this is Geoff y'all - the guy you met at the store yesterday. It's great to know there are some other local folks who are serious about Criterion and movies. Good luck to you!!
The best criterion sale videos. Glad you spend so much time in the store. You should check if they have Sundays and Cybele in this store and consider blind buying it. Really great film. Hilarious that you joked about that being Buscemi and it actually is him. Haha. Also, very nice choice in picking up Sansho! I picked up two online so far and am heading to the store very soon to grab a few more and a couple Asian films from Arrow while I'm there.
Shampoo was directed by Hal Ashby as part of his perfect decade of films in the 1970s (Harold and Maude, The Last Detail, Being There, etc.). Also, the screenplay for Beyond the Valley of the Dolls was written by Roger Ebert.
Great to see y’all back for another Criterion season! I picked up, “Shoah,” “The Apu Trilogy,” “The Red Shoes,” “The Passion of Joan of Arc,” “On the Waterfront,” and “Do The Right Thing” this go around! Can’t wait to see what else y’all pick up during this cycle! Regards, Matthew
I just went ahead and preordered all the titles titles I intend to purchase this month so my only "haul" will come all from the same online order this year. For the non-November releases I have just one title and uh... one very expensive boxset that I purchased with birthday money. - Cure - Ingmar Bergman's Cinema (yup... I finally bit the bullet. I don't want to regret never owning it when Criterion eventually stops printing it. So yeah, I bought it when I had the money to do so. Excited to finally see it in person.) My November pre-orders include the following titles: - Wall-E 4K - Malcolm X 4K - Infernal Affairs Trilogy boxset ... Bonus non-criterion pickup! I also grabbed the new Top Gun Maverick 4K Steelbook release. That is all.
One of the films in the collection that I’d highly recommend is Local Hero by Bill Forsyth. So weird and quirky and also so thoughtful and emotional. Burt Lancaster is awesome in it, and it’s one of my favorites. Love your content!
Good to see eric back and last criterion season of the year with you guys :) I do highly recommend you guys pick up blind buy human condition, it might be a long film but it will be worth your time I swear :) see you guys again for part 2 this month ❤️ much love
Carlos, These are literally my favorite videos of yours on the channel, Criterion hunting videos. Awesome stuff! Here’s what I got this particular haul: •Rushmore •La Haine •Fantastic Mr. Fox •Y tu Mamá También •Eraserhead •Punch Drunk Love •Blue Velvet •Uncut Gems •Lost Highway •Fire Walk With Me (I double dipped on this one, I do own it but I got it signed so I wanted another one I could use to watch/enjoy) Now I have 16 films in the collection :)
Another great Haul video! Eric should definitely try and make it to some of the other haul videos this month, even if he doesn't buy anything. I love seeing different people's perspectives and thoughts on film.
This was a blast, as always! I’m really surprised at how the new released Clouzot film, Le Corbeau, is receiving so little attention. That’s a masterpiece of the same director who did Wages of Fear and Diabolique. Worth checking it out!
Good Morning is so fun. The Game is a great film. I watched Take Out and Daddy Longlegs today, they both were shot very similarity, both satisfying films.
When did you see Sancho The Bailiff because I'm sure I saw one of these videos a little while ago where you said you hadn't seen it & didn't pick it up & I thought "damn, this guy's missing out big time". LOL. In my top five movies of all time & my very favourite Asian movie, it's phenomenal. I'm picking up La Piscine this week, I love that movie. You ever seen The Cloud-capped Star? I'd highly recommend that if you haven't. My favourite Indian movie.
I saw it about a month ago because it was a blind recommendation winner in the Discord. And obviously I agree with you I think it’s phenomenal on all phases. And I’ve been DYING to see the cloud capped star. It looks like a film id love.
Unfortunately, I think I may have to skip out or only grab one or two on this criterion sale. Bright side is that I just got back from London and took advantage of their cheap blurays.
I love your Criterion hauls! I don’t need to spend the money but I’m thinking of getting Barry Lyndon (based on your ecstatic review) and Paris Texas, both blind buys for me.
I can't remember if Hedwig or Valley of the Dolls was my first Criterion film but regardless... Hedwig has lost in my closet ironically for a few years. I can't find my copy sadly.
Erick spoiling After Life thoughts in the first minute of the video!
Is NoThInG sAcReD aNyMoRe
The Apu Trilogy is a monumental piece of cinema. Every film is a masterpiece.
Yesss
It’s one I recommended before. Hopefully he picks it up soon.
Late Spring and Sansho The Bailiff ❤ two of my all-time favourite films 🥹

Is that you at 18:40? Pretending not to be interested in the Criterions, you're fooling no-one lol
Geoff!!! Thank you so much for commenting! It was awesome to meet somebody who has an appreciation for criterions and quality film in general!
@@steveblundell7766 haha nah he’s actually in the background around 24:15

Oh man. If you haven't seen Down by Law or Mystery Train by Jarmusch you gotta.
That actually is Steve Buscemi lol 😂 another great vid guys! I picked up Cure and La Llorona today!
Me too. Excited for those 2.

It's an ABSOLUTE crime to have not seen Dekalog yet hahaha! My all-time favorite Criterion.
I was really waiting for someone to pick up and discuss Paul every time I randomly saw it.....haha great video everyone!
Omg Gen looks so pretty!

I already bought Wall•E (preorder), Umbrellas of Cherbourg, Come and See, Yi Yi, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown!
Good Morning is so good! Take out was excellent as well.
Just watched Sean Baker’s Take Out on the Criterion Channel. Definitely look into it if you aren’t aware of it! It’s remarkable!
Another great Haul video! Eric should definitely try and make it to some of the other haul videos this month, even if he doesn't buy anything. I love seeing different people's perspectives and thoughts on film.

Oh wow both wages of fear and Diabolique are great!
The Funeral is so good.
Great haul. I could watch y'all talk about Criterions for hours.

The Dekalog is blind buy worthy. An essential for any Criterion collector.
Glad to see a classic haul video 🤘🏻
These videos are some of my favorite content of all time ❤
They're playing Christmas Music Already? CHRIST ON A CROSS!
In the country of the 'war against Christmas' 😁
Unfortunately, I think I may have to skip out or only grab one or two on this criterion sale. Bright side is that I just got back from London and took advantage of their cheap blurays.
I probably won’t be able to get to B&N until the 14th so here’s hoping everything isn’t picked over by then 🤞
I love your Criterion hauls! I don’t need to spend the money but I’m thinking of getting Barry Lyndon (based on your ecstatic review) and Paris Texas, both blind buys for me.
I'm so excited to go to my local Barnes & Noble soon!
I've heard of Sansho the Bailiff... came across is reading Zona - a book about Tarkovski's Stalker
Another fantastic trip out! Look forward to part 2 👍🏻
Always a great time watching the Criterion Haul. Still didn’t pick up the films from my man Masaki Kobayashi, that hurts lol
Ah dude Theres a good chance Im picking up the human condition next time. I watched the first one and was completely blown away.
@@TheMisfitPond, awesome you won’t be disappointed from Part 2 and especially Part 3.
I love these videos!
After Life is a good one, bruh!
Go get Sword of Doom, Army of Shadows, and Harakiri
None of them picking up A Hard Day's Night is always sad to see when I watch these videos, the movie is so damn good
I need to see it. I’d probably love it because of I love the Beatles and their animated film Yellow Submarine.
i would love to see the scores/soundtracks of criterion movies released in same manner
Need Perry back. This store will not survive without him
I can't remember if Hedwig or Valley of the Dolls was my first Criterion film but regardless... Hedwig has lost in my closet ironically for a few years. I can't find my copy sadly.
Shampoo is great. Same director of Being There
Damn I had no idea Hal Ashby was behind it.
Great video man.
Love love love love love ❤🎉
Ready to murder my credit card again
Another sale, another wallet thrashing.
That’s so obnoxious that the store is playing Christmas music ALREADY!
B-but it is Steve Buscemi
I thought it was McCauley Culkin tbh 🤷♂️
Why is Paul in the criterion collection
I can’t believe you said Two Lane Blacktop looks like something you guys wouldn’t like because it’s about car culture……Mexicans not into car culture?
Bro rip Umbrellas 😢😅
Are you and Perry Sworn enemies now?
Yea I hate that guy. Awful human being.
