To hunt Arizona in January, during the mule deer rut, is one of my favorite pursuits of the OTC mule deer season.

ABOUT: When hunting, especially archery hunting, keeping the wind into your face, the sun behind your backside while you are stalking a buck.
This video mule deer hunting tip is focused on using caution with your silhouette/shadow when approaching desert washes, arroyos from high ground.

I know they do but cant believe deer live in such inhospitable country. Once saw a beautiful 4 point mule deer buck standing in the middle of the hwy 10 miles north of Yuma.

Some very nice bucks around and east of Yuma. Particularly the agriculture fields in the Gila River drainage.

thanks for the note. I checked this video, was desktop processed at volume level +15 over actual sound recorded from camera. Windows/VSDC edit software indicates my computer level is 45% of volume capacity. But sometimes I whisper, as I'm actually out there hunting....shhh, wabbits...
Tested this video sound on my laptop and IPhone, good volume with UA-cam sound bar adjusted 1/2 way.

90 yards is too far for a bow

for the average bowhunter, I'd agree.
It comes down to an individual hunter's skill, knowing your equipment performance and your capabilities in hunting conditions. Winds in excess of 5mph, extreme shot angles will most certainly pass on long distance shots over 70 yards.
Hunting the desert is a lot different than hunting other common terrains, environments.
At my senior age today, my draw weight is lower at 67-lbs, my 20/20 vision isn't what it used to be. I limit my hunting shots to 70 yards...if conditions, wind-shot angle, are good.
Easily 90% of my stalks don't go as planned due to wind shifts-swirls, noise I make, or getting busted by other deer/does.
Last 2 desert bucks I tagged were at 67 & 72 yards. I was fortunate to stalk in from hundreds of yards away. Both bucks went down within eyesight, heart-lung shots.
My younger hunt partner is no average bowhunter, drawing 75-lbs, often practice shooting at 100 yards. IMOP, he is near expert level. I learn much observing, practice shooting with him. When we practice, it's just not on flat level ground. We shoot uphill, downhill angles at 70+ yard distances, uneven ground under our feet.
Busted a few arrows this way too, $$$!
