Whenever a genre starts getting worldwide recognition here comes the western music execs trying to push American and European artists to be featured in the music, the issue is they start to change the original sound to suite their taste which causes the music to become watered down and lose authenticity. They also start showcasing white people as the main love interests in the music video. I'm not African but I love Afro-beats please don't let these westerners ruin your music and take it over like they did with R&B and Hip Hop here in America GUARD THAT MUSIC WITH YOUR LIFE!
Music is for everyone to enjoy. It is something that unites us and makes us feel good. Nothing wrong with collaborations here. They help to bring greater worldwide attention to the music, that’s all. Nobody can ever steal Afrobeats from Nigerian culture. Just enjoy the music for what it is and how it makes you feel.
Afro beats is something us Africans could be proud of because it represents us as Africans but all the remixes with musicians from abroad is just confusing
I don’t think they are confusing at all. Those collaborations bring Afrobeats greater exposure on the world stage. It’s a compliment to Afrobeats that these international stars love the music. All versions of the songs sound good to me; both the originals and the remixes. Music unites us all around the world. For instance, I am not Nigerian and I don’t understand all the lyrics of Afrobeats songs, but I love the vibe and that feeling of happiness that I get from listening to them. You Nigerians have something great going on here. I’m a big big fan.
A remix often helps expand the fan base and royalties 💰 for the artist which can help make the original artist more successful globally and financially. I’m Jamaican and absolutely love afrobeats.
@Scott Hearts yeah I also saw the original video it was too much. He did not need the car or the girl there. We need to hear only his voice on that sick beat.
afro beats will never die. i understand that these remixes don’t necessarily hit but we can’t deny these guys are getting their bag. as it should be. they’d still make bangers patterned to us. so all this outrage is unnecessary
The Orginal (pure African) versions are the best, but collaborating with artists from other countries expands the African horizon. People from those countries will get to know the African artists and will check out more of their songs. Even if the songs with featured international artists don’t sound better, it still makes a lot of sense from a marketing and business perspective
The yellow card advert tho: You are too good to limit yourself to only Ghana and Nigeria music. You need to do reaction on music from other countries too. Thanks
I agree 100%. And it seems like the powers that be are trying to create a bad boy image for Oxlade. Oxlade is a very talented musician. He uses a real band and they will destroy all of that with their mediocre digital sounds
As if the universe was itself was listening to me, I wanted to know what others thought about some the remixes or the expansion of Afro beats to the rest of the world since I'm from the Caribbean and when I first heard Afro for the first time. I was impressed, I liked it and started listening to it more and more. Lovely video though.
Well if this is the only way to make Afrobeats global then so be it. I want our genre to travel the world. I guess Africans may want to gatekeep this music and keep it within Africa but there are Africans that live within the diaspora like me a Naija/Igbo-Biafran that lives in America and it makes me so happy to hear the music I love on the radio. I feel like an outsider here in America due to the Afrobeats music I listen to sometimes. I’m jealous of why Africans in the UK can enjoy Afrobeats and people in the UK acknowledge Nigerian and Afrobeats culture I want that thing to happen in America as well if the artists here can be respectful to not change the sound to fit themselves and instead adapt and sing in an Afrobeats style as well
Haven't watched yet but let me like and comment first. Notification popped up and I left Twitter immediately to come Watch and give a thumbs up.. That's how good you are! 🙌🏼 Love from Nigeria🇳🇬❤️
I just want Kuami Eugene to do a remix to his song Dollar On You as it is my favorite Ghanaian Afrobeat song to date but with a Black American artist like Chris Brown or Kizz Daniel from Nigeria
I love Afrobeats. When I listen to the remix from rema and Selena, I was like. It just doesn’t sound authentic anymore. She is great, respect. But now it’s all about being on stage and not about passion of being your culture. It just had to happen. Again western influence and it’s sweet to the taste cannot be resisted.
Africans will make remixes with anyone but Africans, Imagine all the promotion female African artistes would have with such exposure. Hope our Afrobeats is not colonized. Watch how black American music is always stolen and colonized, they about to do the same to Afrobeats. Enjoy it while it lasts.
If they are in a demand for Remixes It Means That There Is A High Value For The Genrer And It Is Impacting A Huge Amount of People Across The Globe. The Thing Is Does The Remixes Increase It's Value Or Degrades It's Value?
The thing is that they just want to make it big, they want to be recognised for what they do and the work that they put in. But with the industry being biased as it is, they know that they won't get the recognition they deserve if there isn't westernised aspects in their music. Disclaimer, I could be wrong. But also this is just my opinion so don't come for me 🙂

The KuLoSa remix video was a basic example of overproduction. There's a reason why oxlade blew with a song where it was just him and the mic
This was somethin' I and my sister agreed even original video was just way to much. The Color show version was perfect and okay just him singin'.
Yes, agreed
Simple and classic. He’s now overdoing it with different versions of Ku lo sa
