Your analysis is great and makes it easier to understand underlying issues with the performance. I think most afrobeats artists are vibe creators not vocalists hence the auto tune plays a big role
Not Most Just Omah Lay!! You don't have to be an exceptional singer to be on key and maintain notes. Omah Lay was Horrible. Other Afrobeat artists have done Justice to their Tiny Desk Performance.
When y'all think omah lay sing bad na Nigerian artist. so when Burna Boy shut down London Stadium i no want hear this is a big win for Africa.. Its a big win for Nigeria period!.. I hope you get it Thank you.
His music highlights his voice alot more. The live performances were just that. His low groans are alot louder in the digital which blends with the beat alot more.
In your review of the other AFROBEATs artistes on the NPR Tiny desk, I am disappointed you overlook the stellar performance of Adekunle Gold. I think AG baby discharges himself creditably on the NPR Tiny desk as an outstanding live performer.
NPR don't give in ear monitors lol The one David used was because the performance was not done directly in NPR Studio Just tell this artists to get a vocal Coach please
Surprisingly Fireboy dml on Tiny desk has one of the least views on the UA-cam among the AFROBEATs artistes . For instance he just over 420,000 views in one year on the platform compared to that of Adekunle Gold ( over 650,000 views) in just nine months.
Bro I have watched that performance of Omer lay. It was perfect 💯🔥❤️ I don’t see why you of all people is saying this. I’ve never opposed you in your videos but this nahhhh 🤦🏾♂️
@@gazpromedia only someone who's tone deaf would think the performance was good. Lol. It was bad and underwhelming and you don't even need to be musically intelligent to know that.
The platform merited a world standard performance, what he did is not worth it, the platform is freaking huge too, blowing it at that level is not easy o
Bro can i sugest something? 9:33 can you take the chorus (beautiful day) insted of the vers? The vers is good Too, but the chorus is so catchi so when people will hear the chorus at the end of the vidéo they Will be tempted to go And listen to the hole track. Because some New viewers could go And stream it because of that. In my opinion
He tried to sing it as he sang it in the studio and he sang it raw u don’t expect everything to be 100 percent the way the studio mixed it, beside Afro beat songs no be Rnb songs period everybody rest
See me, I'll always use auto tune whether in monderation in full but I try to be able to sing majority of the songs I write without. Majority, not all. 😂
Omah has always had this issue since his performance of hip-hop world awards 21... Atleast he has enough doe to hire a superb voice trainer. Relying on too much auto tune kills!
Happy independence Day to all my Ghana brother and sister do you know how I remember that today is Ghana independence Day from that burna boy song another story
I enjoyed this session tho. Sure he missed a couple of notes and stuff But the audience that was there enjoyed it. They heard him live. Speaking or RAW
I just happened to see your video after listening to Tem's performance of Tiny Desk. As you was making jokes about Omah Lay, I was confused because I thought he sounded as good as Tess. They actually sound similar. I don't want to sound like I'm a hater, but I don't think either one is a good vocalist. To me a vocalist has to have certain abilities such as good pitch, tone , vocal range, interpretation, and be able to riff. I guess I'm old school and I have worked with a lot great singers throughout my career. Things have changed a now artists can't sing like Whitney Houston, Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin, Donny Hathaway and Sam Cooke. There is some really good songs with great beats. but most singers today are just average. I don't mean to offend anyone, but that's just my opinion. If Omah Lay need a vocal coach, then so does Tems. They are about equal to me.

The true fact is that no matter how he performed , good or bad, bro is still wining his album boy alone is fire
Exactly ❤
As far as im concerned he should get a vocal coach, you never need auto tune
Your editing is amazing 📈
True.
True.
So Amazing
Bit much imo
I was so much expectant of you mentioning Fireboy's performance. That was some fire there ..
Or tems
fireboy>>>
My goat for sure🔥🔥
Every artiste is a continuous learner. Thank you for your criticism, Nigerian artistes can only do better. We love out singers like that.
The drummer was trying so hard not to laugh 😂
Rubbish I never saw any fault there
😂😂
I thought I was the only one who observed he sounded "different". I even tweeted about it. The performance "left a lot to be desired"

Exactly
Your editing skill is mad oooo
Vocal training or at least simple vocal exercises are important. Most Nigerian artists are lazy and don't pay attention to it.
I love SOSO after watching one of your videos. The breakdown and your version got me loving it since . NPR can not even take that away from me 😂😂😂
His music highlights his voice alot more. The live performances were just that. His low groans are alot louder in the digital which blends with the beat alot more.

Yes absolutely
How does Stellar performance relate to NPR music
@@giftgzy3034 Obviously you have not watched his show on the NPR Tiny desk!!

Burnaboy is one of the few Nigerian artist whose voice sounds great, with or without auto tune
Teni, ayra starr, tems. Complet the list, am not a nigerian but i know this 3 sounds good with out autotune.
Adekunle Gold and Fireboy too
Oxlade, Wande Coal?
Rema,ayra star??
2baba, Teni , raybekah, praiz, wande coal etc
Let's be honest I am a fan of Omah, but this wasn't his best at all.
This guy really did a flyer for Davido 😂
Guy what do you edit your videos with? It’s incredible and you deserve more views

Tiwa, Tems and Burna Boy are still the best Nigerian performers on Tiny Desk
Please do not forget Fireboy. And i agree with all the rest
Even Adekunle wasn't bad at all.
He did his thing.
@Outkast
He is!!
Adekunle Gold was the best for me 🔥followed by Tems, Tiwa, Burna & Davido
No reverb as well it was just dry maybe its not the type of mic to use for such afro live performance
So...how come burna boy and the likes sounded way better.

That was terrible, I was cringing so hard, i know how it is to ruin a song on stage, holy shit did it go bad!

Omah lay can do better, for me he only lacks confidence and looks nervous
He is depressed these days

Tiwa savage’s npr performance is my best for me
