Excellent! It’s mad the way Weller can come up with two different sets of chords for the verses. He does the same in ‘Man in the corner shop’. Great video. Thank you
That’s a beautiful guitar John
Thanks... She's gone now, but I really liked her.
Wow, great tutorial! Loved the whole Setting Sons album. This song summed up my opposition to being sent off to die by the old men so I joined the Peace Corps and I found myself in a Strange Town instead. 😀
Beautiful guitars.
Thank you. It's taken a long time...
Great fun! Thanks for taking the time to do this. Much appreciated.
Cheers.
Sir, you are a gentleman and a scholar.brilliant tutorial. Thank you
Ha ha... Nice compliments. I'll take it. Thanks for your support.
Love your enthusiasm for The Jam! Great tutorial on a near perfect guitar.
Thanks for the support... ;-)
Best guitar lesson and cover page on youtube
Woody, you're very kind. I chuckle a bit cause I really don't know what the hell I'm doing... Glad you like what I produce. Not everyone does, that's for sure.;-)
Nice one! Thanks for posting.
Brilliant
Well... You're too kind, but I'll take the encouragement.
yes thank you for taking the time
I enjoyed leaning it it. Thoroughly...
Thank you
This is an awesome guitar tutorial. Excellent singing, as well. You're brilliant, man. Paul would be absolutely thrilled to hear this.
I could only hope... I had fun doing this one. What a great song. So many parts that could be little miniature songs in themselves. Kinda like what the Beatles did toward the end of Abbey Road, with just fab little song after fab little song, showing it was absolutely NO BIG DEAL to write world class rock and roll songs, one after the other. Weller's certainly had his great creative times, hasn't he.
Not really, Paul would absolutely run from anything Jam. Hates it to this day.
Groovy tutorial as always, man. Your vocals are really rocking too!
I'm totally going to learn this song
Glad you liked it. Dunno about the vocals, just glad mine and Weller's vocal range is (somewhat) similar...
spot on....
Thanks for the support.
I love your lessons PLEASE CAN YOU HELP I need a lesson for the solo part on hung up ...
That's a great song... Need to learrn it first.;-)
i can't believe there is another hardcore jam fan in california. not quite my age demographic (20) but you can't have everything. that's dope
If you're referring to me, I live in salt lake City. I've got a few friends who are huge Jam fans down in So. Cal. One's even trying to get together a tribute band. He lives in Costa Mesa...
modfather1965 damn no way. i live about 20 minutes south of costa mesa. how old is he, out of curiosity?
He's my age... Bit younger, actually (I'm 51). He's in his mid/late 40's.
modfather1965 how serious is he about starting a tribute band if i may ask? and is he american?
He's quite serious... Put an ad out on Craigslist, has had some replies. Got a buddy to play bass, he plays guitar, looking now for a Rick... Yep, he's a Yank, but the best kind (i.e., European at heart).
How many of us have tried that boss ME 50 then got shot of it?
Obviously not me...
Great tutorial how difficult to learn 1_10 and do you own all the guitars I'm well jealous great work.
Hi Derek. Yes, they are mine. The collection evolves all the time though. Fun hobby. Glad you liked the tutorial. What a great song, right?
@@modfather1965 thanks for your reply, love the guitars , I went to see the jam at the 100 club and the rainbow club in uk , realy was exciting times , paul Weller incredible song writer ,talented ,did you get to see them , I have also seen the who another incredible band, keep up the tutorials great work ,my other half is a bit fed up with me now playing little boy soldiers all the time ,oh well she will have to lump it. /deal with it.
@@derekaldridge6092 No... Never saw them. Didn't even discover them till '81 over here in the Intermountain West of the USA. Keep playing Soldiers. Great tune. ;-)
@@modfather1965 yeah great tune , now also learning get back by the Beatles, then going to learn ghosts and Liza radley , keep up the tutorials . Good work.

Do you find that flatwounds give you a more authentic sound or do you not bother? Fantastic tutorial and guitar. I'm sitting here with my new 330 and following you, so thanks!
Hey... Congrats on the fab new guitar! I love flatwounds. The give a very stable even sound. Only problems with them are they are harder to bend, and you can't screech the strings. But yeah--fab sound, especially from Thomastic Infeld or Pyramid flats.
Ah, pyramid flats. Heard great things about them. Thanks man. Keep up the great work.
Flats are really nice. very stable sounding, and yeah--vintage vibe definitely. Maybe harder to bend, especially the higher gauge ones (e.g., 11's, 12's, and 13's, which all sound marvelous if you're going for a smooth sound, like Weller's "Whole Point of No Return").
p.s. Great guitar to be following along with...;-)
have seen paul weller live over twenty times since the style council for me wild wood tour using SG's and epiphone casino he achieved his best live sound,
Wow... What a great time to see Weller. Wildwood period is his best since the Jam, I think...
Have you ever done a tutorial on Going Underground? I've been trying it for months but have struggled
I haven't done a tutorial on that one. Guess I could...
There's a really good one on Total Guitar's UA-cam feed. Search for Going Underground TG217.
I figured someone would have done one...
vocal mic and guitar amp need to be a little more in unity. Having to turn it up to hear you speak and down when the guitar starts. But well done content!! I enjoy all your videos
I've got one mic only--the one on my little video camera... Would that I had some better recording gear and actually knew how to use it.
Anti Falklands/War song..
Good insight. 😉
Stop talking so much ffs
Got it... ;-)
