The worst part about dawn releasing ambipom is that’s ashes ambipom… kinda. Imagine trading Dawn your beloved aipom and then she just gives it to a guy that like ping-pong
The irony of the Ambipom release is that the ping pong headquarters are Vermillion City, where Ash was the majority of the Journeys arc and never visited her once 😡
Episode 79 from the indigo league "Friend and Foe Alike" will always be my most hated episode. Nearly everything made me angry about this episode from when I was a kid until now. - Sleep equalled K.Oed - Team Rocket constantly going after Ash - The build up to Ash and Richie's fight and being pushed the last 5 mins - Ash's Team Selection - Not calling officer Jenny that Ash was kidnapped - No one caring including his mother and best friends that Ash was missing - Ash losing in the most anti-Climatic and BS way
That episode angers me too like I understand the message they were giving to Ash about training but I have an idea for how to portray that message better *ahem* REMOVE TEAM ROCKET like I love them but gosh they were just unwelcome in that episode
Ash should have lost because Ritchie was just better at battling. Not because of Team Rocket induced circumstances. Have Ritchie use 3 different Pokémon. Maybe Ivysaur, Wartortle, and Clefairy. When Ash is confused because he was expecting the Pokemon he’d already seen, have Ritchie say something like “Ash you’ve already seen Happy, Sparky, and Zippo in battle. Why would I use them?” Then Ash loses because he didn’t anticipate the right team. A very rookie mistake
As a kid, I used to hate charizard because he won't listen to ash. But when I grew up, I realized that it was ash fault for not trained him. Maybe if he had won his badge more fairly (without team rocket interference), charizard could've respect him a bit.
Honestly though, it really seems like the Indigo League was poorly seeded and Ash happened to be in the weakest bracket by pure luck. Some many of his wins in Kanto were a fluke, luck, or reckless, so it makes sense that a stroke of bad luck would be his undoing.
I like how he chose the episodes that are part of the actual story in each series and not the boring meaningless 100% skippable filler episodes. If he did that then this video would be an hour long.
Something you didn't mention about JN115 that I'd like to add is how all the Masters 8 competitors are people Ash has met before on his journey and literally saved the world with half of them, yet Ash gets absolutely zero interactions with anyone there except Iris. To make things worse, they just give Ash completely cold dead stares as if they never met him before. Ash doesn't even get any interactions with Alain, one of his greatest rivals in the series, other than a cold nod from him. It felt insulting to Ash because the competitors treated him like some nobody when he's actually on good terms with all of them.
Not to mention that Alain's victory aged so fucking poorly. Given how easily Leon thrashed him, I think Ash should've won the Kalos League to begin with, as it was supposed to be.
one other thing is how in the after story that they would post on twitter after an episode airs had them actually do a first bump where Alain said good luck to Ash in the the rest of the tournament but they couldn't bother showing that in the actual episode...At least they have one more interaction when Alain leaves :O
@@BisonGaming3334 Exactly. Steven should've fought Leon, and Ash should've rematched against Alain, preferably with the dumb vines thing in Kalos being fixed and Greninja rejoining his team for one last showdown against Mega Charizard X, in which Ash-Greninja finally wins, as it should've done in Kalos.
I actually had a good laugh during that episode 😅😂😂 But I want that stupid filler of Piplup falling in love with Pikachu in the top 10 that was so boring not even slightly funny like Lost at the League.
Yeah. Gym battles against Electric leaders can either miss harder than a stormtrooper (Both fights with Wattson, Elesa) or be really good (Surge, Volkner, Clemont)
Ambipom’s goodbye is definitely one of if not the worst moments in the entire anime.😡 Thank god for Buizel and Gliscor. Buizel for actually staying committed to Ash and battling, and Gliscor for having one of if not the best Pokémon goodbye’s in the whole anime, and he came back stronger than ever before!😁
Yeah, I don't understand why they randomly made Ambipom develop a thing for ping pong suddenly. It made no sense, and it kind of seems like they were looking for a way to write Ambipom out of the story for whatever the reason, which I really don't know why they would. You would think that it would be a little more important, because the reason why Ash and Dawn traded was that they realized that they had Pokemon that fit the other trainers' style better, not to mention you'd think that they'd want to promote Ambipom more because it was one of the many Pokemon that got a new evolution in gen4
@@matthewkuscienko4616 I know why they wrote off Ambipom. The writers wanted to give Dawn Tgoekiss and Cyndaquill as a way to advertise the upcoming Heart gold and Soul silver games(because togekiss and cyndaquill are johto pokemon lines). However Dawn already had 5 pokemon. So by removing one of Dawn's team members, two pokemon could be shoehorned into the show to advertise the games. Amibpom was chosen since it had the weakest emotional link to Dawn. Dawn had caught all of the her other pokemon, but Aipom was traded so Ambipom was dropped from the show. Which doesnt make sense for this reason: ambipom was itself a Johto pokemon evolution, so I dont understand why Dawn couldnt just be given cyndaquill or togekiss and call it a day.
And what was their reason for doing that? To give Dawn a Cyndaquil with zero personality to promote HeartGold and SoulSilver and a Togekiss who was basically the "late-series undeveloped Pokémon", but for Dawn's team.
More Journey's episodes in this list. Not that many BW episodes made it into this list, it had a fair mix of episodes like the other series on this list
Atleast Journeys had great battles like Ash vs Volkner, Ash vs Cynthia, Ash vs Leon, Ash vs Drasna, Ash vs Iris, Ash vs Bea, Cynthia vs Iris, Leon vs Raihan etc. B & W was just pure BS. Chloe was annoying but atleast she had much less screentime in being annoying than Iris who was present in every damn episode.
I really hate what they did to Alain in the Master’s Eight tournament, even ignoring the fact he was the character I was most excited for returning. Literally brought him back just to immediately send him home, like bruh If they were so dead set on having Alain be the first eliminated, they should’ve made Ash fight him instead, that way it would be a far more meaningful and exciting battle. I would’ve liked to see Alain use Mega Charizard X, Tyranitar, Metagross, and Kingambit (evolved from his Bisharp, who I consider to be his secondary ace behind Charizard) in his fight against Ash lol
That would've really NICE Payback for Ash LOSING the KALOS League!!! Why wasn't that EPISODE on the list? I mean seriously WHY name it Ash's Ultimate Victory or what ever it was called, if you weren't going to have him WIN???
@@darkdragon7210 I'd hardly call THAT proper payback for what they pulled in Kalos Alain didn't disrespect Ash in the finals so he did not deserve that BS treatment from Leon
so, you're telling me... That TR first broke in and cheered for Ash during his first battle in the Indigo League but kidnapped him when the battles were just getting intense? what the actual f-
And they just wouldn’t blast no matter what they got hit with like damn if the point was to make it convincing that Ash would lose to Ritchie that was NOT the way to do it
The irony of Ash having to leave his Greninja behind at the end of Kalos is that a reward from the Sun and Moon demo you could transfer into the games is a special Greninja that can use the Ash-Greninja form.
Even more ironic, SV brought back Greninja...but didn't bring back Ash-Greninja and instead changed Battle Bond into a single-use stat boost to Attack, Sp.Atk, and Speed...and this was a while after Greninja's disappointing return in Journeys.
@@kristheforgottenone Considering their bias towards Charizard and the fact that Charizard wasn't voted #1 (I don't know where it placed but I know it was in the Top 10 somewhere), I wouldn't be surprised if they did.
That's why fans never forgave the writers for the Greninja release and not putting Greninja back on Ash's team, unlike Pidgeot, and never will until the writers do so assuming Ash does come back to the show.
The same series that has my least favourite episode "Three Sides to Every Story", which I didn't like because Maril picked the abusive Elekid whp doesn't even have the same Egg Group over Piplup.
I understand why Greninja had to go but you could have just had it be because Ash literally decided to just chill after Kalos and Greninja wanted to go train or something. You don't need an excuse, just let their paths diverge naturally.
Am I the only person who liked how Greninja had a reason to stay behind? like the entire series he became strong to protect people and he left to protect kalos
@@forjqoijasd which is completely ridiculous, especially since Zygarde is the one who created them in the first place, and we have no explanation on why greninja can find them
The goddamn Ambipom release episode infuriates me because you can tell they released her because they wanted Dawn to have a walking advertisement of a Cyndaquil and a last minute Togekiss, it’s genuinely baffling how they didn’t decide to let Dawn just have more than six pokemon and it feels like they chose a pokemon at random to release because Ambipom leaving for ping pong devalues her ENTIRE arc, so instead of a pretty well written arc about changing goals, she comes off as having the attention span of a goldfish who chases anything new that looks mildly intersting Garbage ass episode
Yeah. Like, if you want to get rid of Ambipom, maybe just have her stay with Johanna. I mean, it’s not unprecedented for Ash’s friends to leave Pokemon with family so they can catch more. Misty left Horsea with her sisters when Horsea needed a place to swim (and Starmie because her idiot sisters forced her to). Brock left his Pokemon with his family before rejoining Ash in Hoenn, the Kanto Battle Frontier, and Sinnoh. May left Beautifly with her mom because they both liked the garden, and Skitty couldn’t get enough of the greenhouse. So why not Ambipom?
@@Jess19980Yeah. And the real ironic thing is that we got an amazing goodbye to a Sinnoh Pokemon owned by one of the twerps that evolved from a Johto one in the 12th season of the anime (Gliscor). And it was in Zactoshi’s TOP 25.
So that they could make room on Dawn's team for a random Cyndaquil to promote HeartGold and SoulSilver...and a Togekiss that was basically just given to her and given next to no development. It had personality, but pretty much was Dawn's equivalent of Ash's Noivern, Gible, and Melmetal.
My theory is Ambipom was written off cause some TPCI executive thought that Ambipom was ugly and should be replaced with a cute pokemon. Thereby destroying its development and giving Dawn a random Togekiss instead.
8:57 The creators of Pokémon wants to think that we're damn idiots, Zygarde could get rid of the vines alone and Greninja could stay on Oak's lab so he can have training partners like Charizard, Sceptile and Infernape so he can come back to be on the Alola league and on the Masters Eight Tournament he could face Leon's Gmax Cinderace but no he is still released because Zygarde lied to him about the stupid vine crap
Zygarde said only greninja can see the vines but whoever had the idea of ash not using his best team in the masters 8 truly does need their brain checked
It's even worse when the episode uses soft lightning and playing sad music to gaslight the viewers into thinking this is an emotionally well-written scene - when in reality - it's not. Even the games have better writing than this episode. This episode alone is why XYZ is overrated for me and why Sun & Moon is unironically a better season for me.
@Loner098You base the quality of a series on just *one episode* it's completely superficial I could talk about the episode where Lana says she wants to become a sea explorer
Ash vs Elesa being 14th is really generous. This episode is the entire reason why people thought, that Ash was an idiot in BW, while he was okay for majority of the battles. While Ash vs Hapu and Leon vs Alain are also mediocre, but Elesa fight for me is the only one in entire anime, that hurts you, when you watching it
Elesa Vs Ash would only seem to prick my foot, but atleast such a thorn could be removed. Leon Vs Diantha was so damn disgusting as if the sliver that pricked you is now inside your veins who knows where. Two days following that episode, I had my entrance exam and on the last night and even amid the exam, I still could see flashes of that episode which would infuriate me. It was THAT bad!
@@nishant9289 after watching Ash vs Leon part 2 it makes it a bit more bearable. At least we could imagine that Dragapult messed with Diantha by constantly switching her team with Dragon Tail and weakening it only for Rillaboom to sweep. It's still awful but at least it's something
@@МихаилЛотов-о8э I have seen that argument several times, and let me tell you, even this argument doesn't make sense. See, Dragon Tail definitely switches out your opponent's Pokémon, but which Pokémon would come out immediately next is completely RANDOM, it doesn't depend on either trainers. Against Ash, this strategy makes sense because all of Ash's Pokémon are prone to a Dragapult (flamethrower for Mega Lucario, Meteor Assault Immunity from Sirfetch'd and ability to hit Dragonite, Dracovish and Gengar for Super-effective damage etc.) If anything, this actually makes Leon look impressive. But against Diantha? Nope! Aurorus hard counters Dragapult because Dragapult can't hit Aurorus for Super-effective damage, but Aurorus can. Also, unlike Ash, Diantha has a fairy type in Mega Gardevoir. What if the dragon tail brought Aurorus? Dragapult would be in trouble. What if it brought Mega Gardevoir, a Pokémon immune to Dragon Tail? Which is why this strategy also doesn't make sense because otherwise it seems to suggest that Leon was relying on luck against a trainer the Anime showcased us as a strategist. Relying too much on luck in a trainer Vs trainer battle is never a great idea.
The worst part about Ambipom leaving Dawn to go play ping pong is that there's ZERO appeal to ping pong over contests Like, seriously, why would the energetic, show-off Ambipom who loves performing and putting on a spectacle, leave Ash and Dawn, the two trainers who put love and care into her, to go play basic ass PING PONG?? P I N G P O N G
The top 2 being an XY & DP episode is a proof that even the best series has it’s flaws, I’m a BW stan & I give mad respect to Zac for not putting too much episodes of that series on the top 10 👏🏼
@@mattiasolsson1523 Ambipom’s release was definitely horrible but I feel like there are alot of episodes that are worse than Greninja’s release, Zac just ranked it really high because he is a Greninja stan
@@migspogi2097 Ambipom release was a worst decision in every way. Greninja however release was to save the Kalos region, not really that bad but i really wish Ash could have broght back Greninja to his other Pokémon, it was also emotional when they said goodbye.
@@migspogi2097 When you mention Pokémon BW. That series have some good episode and even have some of the best Pokémon episode. BW might be a disapointed, But i can rewatch it again when for it.
I did not find Cacnea's release episode to be the worst. Cacnea started to lose focus in DP due to Carnivine taking over the spotlight and gag of hurting James. At least, Cacnea did get better under Gardenia's tutelage compared to James who did not properly train the little fellow enough prior to its release.
@@augustbornone Also given the fact that while James loved his Pokemon, he realized that he never had the fire to train it. I mean why else would him and Jessie keep losing? Because they never trained their team.
I don’t blame Journeys for not resolving the whole vine thing. But, do you know what I DO blame them for (aside from Grookey)? Taking Ash back to Vemillion City for his last three seasons and NOT running into Ambipom, who was supposedly training in the sacred art of ping-pong *IN VERMILLION CITY!* But, I guess if you’re a monkey whose name is not Infernape, you don’t get to be relevant after your expiration date.
Ah, the Ambipom episode. I recall another youtuber saying the same thing, and humorously pointing out how Ash did the same thing with Primeape. And then there's Tobias. Will never forget that Hack win!!!
Hot take: I think the episode with Ash’s second battle is worse than the first one. You have: *It take forever to get to the main part of the episode with us not even getting to the gym until the second half of the episode (The first part involving another one of the TRio’s schemes) *Even then, May just HAD to battle Watt before Ash battled Wattson (Which is one of the few bright spots) *When we actually get to the gym battle itself, it constantly gets interrupted by MORE TRio shenanigans, which would be more forgivable except for the fact that Ash and Wattson’s battle is a ONE v ONE! *And Ash’s Torkoal losing to Manectric’s Thunder Wave (a status move) And this episode isn’t filler as this is the episode where May learns the next contest will be In Verdanturf Town!
The pokemon goodbyes of Greninja and Ambipom always piss me off! All that build-up of their relationship with Ash, or in Ambipom's case Ash and Dawn, is just thrown out the window!
Whilst I Dislike the release of Greninja I can sort of see why they did it, they instead of having him stuck at Oaks doing nothing they gave him a task so he has something to do. The Ping pong however was so bad, like why
@@professorpengu502people keep saying it’s because he’s the only one that can stop the vines but I don’t think that was true. I’m pretty sure it was that he was the only one that could see where the vines would be before they sprout.
My least favourite episode is "Three Sides to Every Story" There was this Lum berry farmer's Marill, which Dawn's Piplup falls in love with. It looks really adorable seeing them together & how they get along, plus they share an Egg Group. So why do I hate this episode? Well, there's this obnoxious Elekid that abuses Marill a lot with Super Effective Electric type attacks. We see one of these scenes of her being bullied onscreen by him. The attacks don't hit her though, but she looks so scared. 😟 Brock points out that he's "teasing her" because Elekid is also in love with Marill. At the end of the episode, she gets to choose between Piplup & Elekid & who does she pick? The Elekid who literally crushed on her by forcing her to dance daily over the Piplup who was nice to you from the start. Elekid is in the Undiscovered Egg Group & doesn't even share any egg groups when it evolves, either! So, according to this episode, if you want someone to fall in love with you, tease them by threatening to punch them, THEN show them you can protect them & flirt. Disgusting!
I would put Ash losing both Indigo and Unova league episodes at worst of entire anime because Ambipom and Greninja's release ruin only one character but those two league episodes ruin whole series.
That sounds quite awful! I really hope this doesn't appear contemptuous if I share my experience. In my case, I was going to give my engineering entrance exam on 28th August, and on 26th August, the infamous JN 122 aka Leon Vs Diantha aired. Here in India, we prepare for this exam for two years (classes 11th and 12th), and since the syllabus is beyond the school textbooks, it is not quite an easy exam and hence the few days prior to the exam are some of the most crucial days/intense and thought-cumbersome days one can feel. This episode, this absolutely one of the all times of episode, struck me for three days, maybe even more, even when I was taking my exam I must have thought how awful that episode was, atleast two to three times. For me this episode will always be the worst episode of all time for these set of reasons.
My opinion on the worst ten: 10. Unova is still the worst league. 9. They did Alain so dirty. 8. WHY DID SHE RELEASE TOGETIC?? 😢 7. Boring. 6. Honestly I haven’t seen the two episodes so it’s a pass. 5. I actually like the episode 😊 4. It’s Team Rocket fault. 3. Felt like filler, but it’s a really bad episode. 2. WHY DID HE RELEASE GRENINJA?!? 1. Letting go of Ambipom was so stupid. I’m still mad at that episode ever since I was a kid.
i can't wait to see the blue pokemaniacs, ash releasing greninja, ambipom, the episode where petalburg city fights ash(why was everyone so hostile?? lots of trainers challenge norman)
I actually really like Togepi Mirage. It was about time to see Misty return and Togepi mature and evolve. The release does hurt, but I think it adds more to the emotion because Misty raised Togepi since it hatched, so it’s like a parent letting their child go on their own.
Aipom was and still is my fav Pokémon. That release hurt me as a kid. You know it was bad that as a 12 year old I thought it was extremely stupid. They built Aipom/Ambipom up for so long just to cut it short for absolutely nothing.
Strongly disagree on the Orange Island final Gym, that double battle was actually really good for the time. Most Gyms in the OS were only half an episode, so I don't see why you're on the TR stuff in that ep when it's the same for most Gym of that era. Seeing Pikachu and Charizard work together was great, as well as Pikachu shock Alakazam for its Hyper beam to strike the ground and hit Marowak, and then the bone club come back on its face. Bulbasaur's final episode was really good too, it was emotional enough and is no different than Oaking a Pokemon, no idea why that would be an issue since Bulbasaur lasted way too long in Johto.
The bulbasur episode is pretty good I think. How he acts like a diplomat between all the Pokémon was fun. The goodbye was bs but everything else was good
I mean it was just Oak'ing a Pokemon, and Bulbasaur lasted way too long into Johto anyway, he should of left in the first year shortly after Charizard and Squirtle did. The ep itself was great,
The absolute worst episode was Ash’s Greninja losing the Kalos league. That is the episode that got me permanently out of the Pokemon Anime. It ruined EVERYTHING about not only XYZ, but also further iterations of the anime. Ash’s journey RIGHTFULLY should have ended there yet it didn’t because of some awful decision made by the writers and/or the higher ups. Truly a travesty indeed.
I mean at least he had more Kalos Pokemon, something he honestly should have had Like picture this team for Alain Charizard Chesnaught Malamar Clawitzer Aegislash Heliolisk
Man growing up, I always liked Ash's Aipom and her personality so, knowing full well that she probably wouldn't return, I always used to tear up at the end of the ping pong episode when they showed a montage of ash's journey with Aipom
You know as badly as they did Ambipom I’m atleast glad they showed her alongside Ash’s other Pokémon during the Champion battle against Leon when Pikachu saw a vision.
So for number 16 Battling the Enemy Within, I will say that it sparked so much fandom love and lore for Evil Ash - which was a huge hit for years. Also Friend and Foe Alike is probably my number one hated. I need to think more but for now it is. Also YES WHY THE FREAK DID THEY DO AMBIPOM DIRTY LIKE THAT?
You know Friend and Foe alike is if in Dragon Ball the Pilaf Gang kidnapped Goku during the 21st tournament, over worked him, and was forced to fight Roshi not at his best which would have ruined the entire theme of the arc
Unova league was so absolute bollocks man. Especially that Axew episode haha. However that Ambipom episode is indeed the worst in my opinion too! A pokemon that came all the way from AG to DP only to get released for Ping Pong which she didnt even love beforehand. It’s stupid that it abandoned contests for that…
They went out of their way to make Greninja leave, then casually did everything in thwir power to make it seem like ash greninja never existed, like the disrespect
@@Radiolonestar if they showed greninja doing this before he got released, it might have made some sense but no, they couldn't even build up to the issue properly and just forced it out of nowhere
@@eljordinio7647 fr and they easily could've made up for it by having ash battle Alain using ash Greninja in journeys, or at least show ash Greninja in the flashbacks, but they went out of their way to erase the form

Greninja's release, combined with the Kalos League loss and the writers not letting Ash get revenge, was such disrespect that I quit the anime for three years before it finally redeemed itself.
Extreme disrespect Ash vs Alain as a battle is amazing, but the OUTCOME is unacceptable. Sure Alain didn't body ash like Tobias did but still, Alain was Ash's other major rival, who he had never beaten, so this was the perfect time to settle the score
@@eljordinio7647 Alain's Charizard slayed 10 megas in a row, plus a member of the Kalos Elite Four. Also, Alain's Charizard went toe to toe with Zygarde, and fought Primal Groudon. It's amazing how many people hate Ash losing to Alain, but Alain is the only league rival Ash met before getting all eight badges.
@@JaMarcusRussellGOAT so? It doesn't help that said mega Zard X also gets knocked out at point blank range by Leon's Charizard in a single shot Greninja is also the reason ash even made the finals in the first place and after everything he went through to perfect his transformation, I think he deserved to win. Not to mention he came extremely close to beating a champion's ace while Alain's Charizard barely even dented one The Kalos league finals are controversial for a reason whether Alain deserved to win or not
@@eljordinio7647 Because Greninja had a cool form? Since this is about the Lumiose Conference, Alain's performance against Leon doesn't matter. Alain's Charizard was shown to be very powerful, and we had a four episode miniseries to showcase it. The same cannot be said for Ash's other league rivals. Maybe it's because I hate Greninja, but even with all the development he got, it's still reasonable that he failed to defeat Charizard. I mean, a Super Water Shuriken to the face, and Charizard is unphased. Remember, Greninja's destiny was to save Kalos, and not win some tournament.

@@SaxophoneSeal does it really make sense or not cause from what I've seen the reason Mudsdale lost cause it got wet when it attacked Pikachu accidentally one of the pillars fell in the water resulting in mudsdale getting wet, then Pikachu used like electro web on it then used a z-move
I didn't remember the episode title for number 1 so I was just like "well what could this be". I am not joking when I say my heart rate rised as I yelled obscenities the moment I saw Ambipom. Greninja's release is garbage, no one can deny but at least it kinda sorta has reasoning with his arc and has him being the regions -weed wacker- protector. Ambipom had all of this setup, was part of one of the only good trades in the anime's history, was overall just fun to have around and her doing contests made sense. So then why, on Arceus' green earth did they throw all that set up away for PING PONG! It is probably one of the biggest fumbles in the anime's history and I get angry everytime I think about it.
2:21 I liked "Battling the Enemy Within". Maybe it was just in terms of the concept but I'm a sucker for a dark side of the main hero trope. Ash is such a pure character in the majority of the series, it was kinda refreshing seeing him have a dark side. Even if it was the result of a possession, It was novel seeing Ash act evil for once.
Same. And that's not even the last time it happens... The Hoopa movie did this briefly too. And (kill me because I'm about to say it) Journeys had this happen during Alister's debut.
As divisive Pokémon Journeys is, at least I personally enjoyed the majority of the episodes but I will admit that I didn’t like how Grookey was caught because the “bond” felt forced in which I personally don’t hate Goh’s Grookey as much as most people but I can agree that this was one of the worst debuts for a starter Pokémon despite me liking the episode and don’t get me started about the releases of both Greninja and Ambipom respectively because they equally angered me a lot, both of them are just poorly written and executed episodes in which sickens me dearly!!! 😦😪😖👎🏻
The thing is they kinda had to "get rid of Greninja" in one way or another 'cause it would've just stolen the spotlight if it had returned with Ashes other Pokémon, but there was literally NO REASON to get rid of Ambipom!
Greninja could have either stayed with Sanpei in Ninja Village since he was a crucial part of its development, or just stayed with Sycamore so he could study the bond phenomenon further, maybe even be the guardian of the lab Or heck, he could have just gone to Oak's with everyone else barring Goodra
Ash does insist on a rematch as well when it’s a more even battlefield, and in Watt’s with Wattson even tries to return the Dynamo Badge because the match was unintentionally rigged in his favour. OG Ash would have used the loophole of receiving it, this shows how much he’s grown and is much more like the Ash who refuses the Sunnyshore badge as a handout (a rare point he and Paul agree on) and prefers to earn it in DP.
I can see where you are coming from, it was nice seeing ash Sweep a gym and even at the end of the episode Ash offered to give the badge back because he felt bad as he thought that he cheated and Watson being the nice old man he was laughed it off and let him keep the badge as the Pikachu Power boost was Watsons fault for trying to startle challengers
I agree the Worst Pokémon episodes for were Friend and Foe Alike and Facing the needs of Many. Ash should have lost to Ritichie fair and square. The referee should have let Ash heal his Pokemon and Ash should have send out another Pokemon besides Charizard to battle Ritchie such as Kingler, Tauros and Muk. And I agree they should have never released Ash’s Greninja they should have resolved the plot with the vines in Journey’s!
You know, maybe “A Double Dilemma” isn’t the worst episode after all. Should’ve made the honorable mentions, but oh well… Hearing Zac go off-script to rant about Ambi-pong was wonderful.
That ep is not only my Least Favorite in AG, but also Probably of all TIME!!! Seriously that episode SUCKED BIG TIME!!! The only GOOD thing about that ep is Torkoal actually getting some WINS!!! SHAME we didn't get to see them. # JUSTICE for Torkoal!!!
8:31 i think thr person who put ash-greninja in sun and moon demo actually liked greninja and did not hate on him for no good reason (im looking at you gamefreak stop hating on the ninja frog)
And people ask why Best Wishes is considered as the worst ... these nightmare GYM battles... that nightmare Unova League... boring final arc... However my number 1 will be always episode 079 After all the built with Richie was just for Ash getting utterly defeated just because his pokemon were tired after dealing with Team Rocket.... Man that was a great example of terrible writing.... that pissed of everyone at that time...
Tell that to those die hard toxic unova fans who either don't know or accept the flaws or are so blinded by nostalgia that they think the anime is just as good as the games. News flash, it isn't. Especially in the last season which was mostly garbage
9:06 Yeah I will admit that episode was horrible But I do get why Zygarde needs Greninja’s help: Because it seems Squishy and Z2 NEED to be in Zygarde Complete Form to do that, but it’s too much strain on their bodies
There should be zero excuse for this. Zygarde is supposed to defend Kalos from threats like this, and it's even partly responsible for the vines showing up. He and only he should be clearing up this mess
Hey, while yes, May losing to Dawn doesn’t make sense given their skill levels, it DOES make sense narratively. May’s no longer the female protagonist, so the battle is a passing of the torch moment.
I feel like they could've gotten rid of the Axew episode and replace it with Ash vs Stephan, and then Ash vs Cameron (having Ash win), and then have Ash lose to Virgil in the semi-finals
The one reason why I don't like Ash vs Hapu is you realise, that Ash could've just brought Rowlet and defeat Mudsdale without much difficulty with Bloom Doom, and Tectonic Rage has no effect on him. Or making Torracat to fight, since he just learned Fire Blast episode earlier and it would be a great opportunity to shine. But Ash chose the worst option on purpose and won by pure Anime Logic, since apparently making Ground type wet equals to using move Soak. At this point random Whiscash or Stunfisk living underwater is already doomed to random Thunderbolt

You've done the best, you've done the worst non-filler, now I would be very interested in a top 10 best filmer episodes. The ones with great comedy, emotional one of characters, engaging conflicts... I'm sure there are some gems spread in the anime!
Whenever the writers have to introduce an overpowered character with no game counterpart just to justify a main character loss. Tobias is who springs to mind immediately, his Darkrai sweeping the Sinnoh League and Ash only taking out a third of his team before losing. The Kanto Grand Festival has Solidad, a new character who has suddenly disclosed connection to three regular characters (who have never mentioned her before or since and she didn’t appear during the regular contests) and exists solely to make sure May can’t progress after beating Drew, similar to how Ash will beat his main rival of the region in the league only to lose in the next round. Defeat Gary lose to Harrison, Paul then Tobias, Trip then Cameron, Sawyer then Alain.
Its pretty noteworthy that the POKEMON are extremely important characters in POKEMON as you can see by the worst two being due to the pure disrespect and disservice done to two beloved and well-developed characters in the show, I honestly thought number 3 was going to be number 1, and to ME it still is the worst most BS episode, but I really do understand the reasoning for numbers 2 and 1.
Honestly most of these episodes while having some albeit small good points are agreeably marred by the many bad ones which takes the fun out of enjoying them fully
I actually liked that episode, sure it was pointless filler, but i liked it, I may be biased tho cuz i adore the mudkip line and am always happy to see it 😅
Thank you for talking about Cameron, because the fandom drives up the fxcking wall with how much we lambaste Tobias and Alain, but complete ignore the grand L that occurred in between. Also, we never talk about the ref that just set Ash up to lose. I mean, a competitor was KIDNAPPED and he exhausted his Pokémon to make to the match on time and they still wouldn’t let him switch out first? Like, Oak is in the stands. It’s probably like a five-minute process to get three able-bodied Pokémon onto his team. And then he has the nerve to declare Squirtle unable to battle like sleep status isn’t a thing. Ooo!!! These two episodes drive me up the fxcking wall.

@@ashgreninja-flurriko2173 The writers did so by making Ash's Unova team notoriously weak by taking the "this Pokemon does not need to evolve to get stronger" logic into the extreme, think comedy and cuteness automatically makes the Pokemon a fan favorite and a powerhouse (Pokemon need more than comedic and cute personalities to be a powerhouse since Gliscor's 28% win ratio proved that theory) and some members were just copy-paste duplicates but done worse (e.g., Snivy is Bulbasaur but with no changes in moveset or evolution, Pignite was a copy paste Charizard and Infernape but not fully evolved, Palpitoad was Kingler 2.0 but not fully evolved)
Here is my top worst list: 1. "Friend and Foe Alike" Episode 81 2. "Johto Photo Finish" Episode 274 3. "At the End of the Fray" Episode 407 4. "The Semi-Final Frontier" Episode 657 5. "A Unova League Evolution!" Episode 767 6. "Down to the Fiery Finish!" Episode 932 In those 6 episodes Ash has lost in every major regional pokemon league in generation 1-6, so you understand why some people really didn't like this anime in the past. Funny things is that the original writer wanted to make some good changes like aging up Ash, and giving him along with team rocket some major character development, but unfortunately the pokemon anime studio has different plans, so we had to wait until generation 7 to see him winning a major regional pokemon league. Ps. The scoring on all of those episodes are obviously 0/10 from me, since they have always rushed towards the next pokemon anime generation, so the regional pokemon league story arcs were always bad with the ending. I could understand using this tactic 2 maybe 3 times but not 6 times in a row (aside from orange pokemon league).
I think Horizons is gonna fulfill Takeshi Shudo's vision now that Ash is finally done and he might return older. Dude is like the Stephen Hillenburg of the Pokemon anime in a sense. But unfortunately corporate greed took over and for them status quo beats good storytelling apparently. It's why so many parts of the Ash anime were stagnant and the anime wants us to care about his long journey when like most of it is just resets, bad writing decisions, missed opportunities, fillers, and inconsistencies. Horizons please be good.

Episode 79 from the indigo league "Friend and Foe Alike" will always be my most hated episode. Nearly everything made me angry about this episode from when I was a kid until now.
- Sleep equalled K.Oed
- Team Rocket constantly going after Ash
- The build up to Ash and Richie's fight and being pushed the last 5 mins
- Ash's Team Selection
- Not calling officer Jenny that Ash was kidnapped
- No one caring including his mother and best friends that Ash was missing
- Ash losing in the most anti-Climatic and BS way
That episode angers me too like I understand the message they were giving to Ash about training but I have an idea for how to portray that message better *ahem* REMOVE TEAM ROCKET like I love them but gosh they were just unwelcome in that episode
And remember, Misty scolded Ash for being depressed after the fight. NO WONDER HE GOT DEPRESSED BECAUSE OF YESTERDAY'S BULLSHIT

On top of that, instead of putting ash in the backstage and make him interact with them, the writers made him sit in the audience.
one other thing is how in the after story that they would post on twitter after an episode airs had them actually do a first bump where Alain said good luck to Ash in the the rest of the tournament but they couldn't bother showing that in the actual episode...At least they have one more interaction when Alain leaves :O

Yeah. Like, if you want to get rid of Ambipom, maybe just have her stay with Johanna. I mean, it’s not unprecedented for Ash’s friends to leave Pokemon with family so they can catch more.
The worst part about Ambipom leaving Dawn to go play ping pong is that there's ZERO appeal to ping pong over contests

*It take forever to get to the main part of the episode with us not even getting to the gym until the second half of the episode (The first part involving another one of the TRio’s schemes)
*Even then, May just HAD to battle Watt before Ash battled Wattson (Which is one of the few bright spots)
*When we actually get to the gym battle itself, it constantly gets interrupted by MORE TRio shenanigans, which would be more forgivable except for the fact that Ash and Wattson’s battle is a ONE v ONE!
*And Ash’s Torkoal losing to Manectric’s Thunder Wave (a status move)
And this episode isn’t filler as this is the episode where May learns the next contest will be In Verdanturf Town!
Greninja wasn't bad? It left to go help clear up the issues from the incident with zygarde
@@professorpengu502people keep saying it’s because he’s the only one that can stop the vines but I don’t think that was true. I’m pretty sure it was that he was the only one that could see where the vines would be before they sprout.
The rage for ambipom being released took me out 😂 nice video Zac!!! 🤗
My least favourite episode is "Three Sides to Every Story"
There was this Lum berry farmer's Marill, which Dawn's Piplup falls in love with.
Brock points out that he's "teasing her" because Elekid is also in love with Marill.
Disgusting!
Makes you ask one thing......WHAT.....THE HELL????
I would put Ash losing both Indigo and Unova league episodes at worst of entire anime because Ambipom and Greninja's release ruin only one character but those two league episodes ruin whole series.
Fun Fact: Zac probably hates Ping Pong now.
The Leon vs Alain and Diantha Episode were pure garbage. Even worst, 115 was aired on my Niece's Graduation, and 122 was aired on my Cousin's Wedding.
My opinion on the worst ten:
10. Unova is still the worst league.
9. They did Alain so dirty.
8. WHY DID SHE RELEASE TOGETIC?? 😢
7. Boring.
6. Honestly I haven’t seen the two episodes so it’s a pass.
5. I actually like the episode 😊

Still, togepi was her partner that she carried with her throughout the OG series. It's just a shame it returned and did something only to leave
i thought the togepi mirage episode was hot garbage even excluding the release of togepi
@@stinkymayas110 Same here.
Aipom was and still is my fav Pokémon. That release hurt me as a kid. You know it was bad that as a 12 year old I thought it was extremely stupid. They built Aipom/Ambipom up for so long just to cut it short for absolutely nothing.
Ambipom is my favourite, with Aipom second, so I feel your pain, and defo felt it as a kid watching it too
Strongly disagree on the Orange Island final Gym, that double battle was actually really good for the time.
I'm actually quite impressed by how bad the Ambipom release episode was; as a kid, watching that episode made my blood boil.
The bulbasur episode is pretty good I think. How he acts like a diplomat between all the Pokémon was fun. The goodbye was bs but everything else was good
BS? It’s not like Bulb really left Ash.
No.

Noticed that only one was considered bad episode from sun and moon, this shows how good that region seasons are
At least, one bad episode from SM that was important enough to not be considered filler.
Not to mention, a lot of that series' fillers weren't even all that bad, they were actually pretty good and super fun
Unova league was so absolute bollocks man. Especially that Axew episode haha. However that Ambipom episode is indeed the worst in my opinion too! I was upset by it soo much. The only thing that redeemed Kalos was Clemont because he was hilarious

Ash vs Alain as a battle is amazing, but the OUTCOME is unacceptable.
Greninja's best feat was just defeating a pathetic trainer's Mega Sceptile.
I think Alain rightfully won that match. It's amazing how many people hate Ash losing to Alain, but Alain is the only league rival Ash met before getting all eight badges.
@@JaMarcusRussellGOAT so? It doesn't help that said mega Zard X also gets knocked out at point blank range by Leon's Charizard in a single shot
Greninja is also the reason ash even made the finals in the first place and after everything he went through to perfect his transformation, I think he deserved to win. Not to mention he came extremely close to beating a champion's ace while Alain's Charizard barely even dented one
The Kalos league finals are controversial for a reason whether Alain deserved to win or not
@@eljordinio7647 Because Greninja had a cool form? Since this is about the Lumiose Conference, Alain's performance against Leon doesn't matter.

The thing is they kinda had to "get rid of Greninja" in one way or another 'cause it would've just stolen the spotlight if it had returned with Ashes other Pokémon, but there was literally NO REASON to get rid of Ambipom!
Greninja could have either stayed with Sanpei in Ninja Village since he was a crucial part of its development, or just stayed with Sycamore so he could study the bond phenomenon further, maybe even be the guardian of the lab

They had every opportunity to set up Chloe's Eevee for gigantamax & failed
I thought the Watson episode was pretty good, honestly. A really creative way to depict how game accurate gym battles would play out.

But I do get why Zygarde needs Greninja’s help:
Because it seems Squishy and Z2 NEED to be in Zygarde Complete Form to do that, but it’s too much strain on their bodies
There should be zero excuse for this. Zygarde is supposed to defend Kalos from threats like this, and it's even partly responsible for the vines showing up. He and only he should be clearing up this mess
Zygarde, cannot sense the source unless it’s already above ground
@@aureliamastergoomba1278 that's literally no excuse. If it can summon those plants from underground, it should be able to find them underground

The Wallace Cup episode where May lost to Dawn after breezing through Zoey was really Dumb imo considering Dawn was still a newbie

Ash got passed two rounds before losing to Cameron. With your formula, Ash's real Unova rival was Stephan.
You originally ranked Farewell Unova! Setting Sail For New Adventures a 6/10. Why is it on this list?

Here is my top worst list:
1. "Friend and Foe Alike" Episode 81
2. "Johto Photo Finish" Episode 274
3. "At the End of the Fray" Episode 407
4. "The Semi-Final Frontier" Episode 657
5. "A Unova League Evolution!" Episode 767
6. "Down to the Fiery Finish!" Episode 932
In those 6 episodes Ash has lost in every major regional pokemon league in generation 1-6, so you understand why some people really didn't like this anime in the past.
@@jedidude6358 yeah this whole corporate greed was just BS and led to a lot of bad writing
I can somewhat excuse Ash's Johto and Hoenn league losses, but the others were disgraceful
@@eljordinio7647 To make things worse, MPM pretty much confirmed that Ash's "Pokemon master" goal is to befriend all Pokemon all along. If that's the case then what is the point of giving 95% of the focus to Ash challenging the league over and over again? I don't really blame the writers. I think even they see the potential the Pokemon anime has. But they have to adhere to the greedy higher-ups who only saw the show as a glorified advertisement and nothing more, forcing them to limit their writing to the status quo and not giving them creative freedom.
@@jedidude6358 the greedy higher ups shouldn't even be in charge of the anime if they think merchandise and money is more important than actually good storytelling.
Like that overused excuse of the show ending if ash won a league. LIES!! Ash won the orange league, Alola league and battle frontier and the show did not end
@@jedidude6358 they should have just made that point clear from the beginning or just focused on a Pokemon master being the strongest trainer, which makes tons more sense since ash has pushed himself to greater heights over the past 25 years
2:47 Complete with Pikachu Thunderbolt-ing him out of exasperation. Oh, and the episode also shows him completely forgetting, until that point, the caveat of Attract. In short, a meme-worthy episode.
To me a contender for worst ep was the one before team galactic's plan bloomed, like to dis the platinum fans by having giratina in 2 frames. 2 FRAMES. And the fact it was some sort of illusion just adds salt to the wound.
Where is 60 ep XY?
In my opinion the worst Pokemon episode ever
Serene's debut in these lesser shows isn't bad, isn't it...... but
-Fennekin just stumbled and Serena is sad and lost... despite the fact that it's just a stumble...
- and this goddamn moment of "Oh god I lost, I'm stupid and I'm going to keep eating... and I have no idea... I'm going to cut my hair and suddenly I'm better" I hate such a stupid theme
Senera in this episode died for me, irreversibly
Ironically, I think that's where Serena starts to get better, since that's where Long Haired Serena died, and got replaced by her better counterpart, Short Hair Serena, bumping her from a 2/10 to a 6/10.
@@theofficialliedetector1545 I think it could have played out better if Serena had a losing streak like Dawn had which kickstarted her development. Her showcase arc just felt rushed in many ways. It's already a red flag that it took Serena 40 episodes to even decide her goal whilst most other characters already have character arcs early in their respective seasons.
@@theofficialliedetector1545 and so it doesn't change the fact that the stupid woman lost then because so did this stupid crying ... in general Women in anime when they have a bad day, they decide to commit this reprehensible act and it doesn't give them anything anyway ... for example Sakura from naruto. Why doesn't she gouge out her eye or cut her tongue like she's bad....
10:30 what episode did this clip come from cus i dont know.
